Temporary Traffic Control Workshop Series
This workshop will provide attendees basic strategies
for working safely on the road, as well as best
practices for handling temporary traffic control and
flagging. The topics to be discussed include:
ƒƒ Working safely on the road
ƒƒ Recognizing hazards and taking measures to
prevent incidents
ƒƒ The importance of proper personal protective
equipment and visibility
ƒƒ The basics of temporary traffic control
ƒƒ Best practices for flagging traffic
About the Instructor
Neal Carboneau is the founder of the Transportation
Training Institute, which he created to provide
training, certification, and technical assistance
in a variety of road and bridge topics including
construction, maintenance, and management.
Neal is a professional engineer with 16 years of
experience in the road and bridge construction
industry and four years of experience with Purdue’s
School of Civil Engineering. While at Purdue, his
focus included training, technical assistance, and
implementation of research findings. Some of his
areas of expertise include budgeting, estimating and
construction management with a focus in bridges,
soil retention, stabilization, and concrete construction
and repairs.
Who Should Attend
This class has been developed to provide safety
training to managers and workers alike.
City engineers, county engineers, highway
supervisors, street commissioners, city/county
elected officials, will learn what is required to
support and manage crews that perform roadside
temporary traffic control. Crew leaders, equipment
operators, laborers, and flaggers will learn how to
reduce the dangers found on the worksite for both
workers and drivers, and begin to think about safety
every day on every job.

To register, complete the attached form and email,
fax, or mail it to the Indiana LTAP office.
•There is no fee to attend this class.
•Lunch will be provided.
•The day of the event, sign-in will open at 7:30 a.m.
Continuing Education Units
Participants who complete the entire workshop will
be eligible for 0.5 CEU. To receive credit, participants
must sign in at the beginning of the workshop and
submit a CEU request form at the end of the day. Requests for CEU will not be accepted after the session.
Road Scholar Program
This workshop meets the requirements for Core
Course #7 in the Road Scholar Program. Attendees
interested in earning Road Scholar Core Course credit must be present for the entire workshop.
Course Certificates
Certificates of Attendance will be available for
download from the LTAP website after each class
(check for them the following week). Sign-in at the
beginning of the workshop is required to receive a
certificate.
