The executive board serves as a leadership team to envision and create vibrant Jewish life on campus.
The Executive Board works closely with the Hillel program staff to develop their action plans. The
Executive Board meets weekly with the Program Director. In addition, the Executive Board joins with
all Hillel Fellows (below) for a full Board meeting once per month. Executive Board members are also
responsible for convening “team meetings” every other week. The Execs will work closely supervising
and collaborating with Hillel Fellows in their area of responsibility (see application below for
descriptions) to develop exciting programs and opportunities for Jewish growth. In addition to their
program and engagement budgets, Executive Board members will receive honoraria of up to $200 at
the conclusion of each quarter. Full honoraria will be granted for excellence in participation in weekly
meetings, creation of successful programs, engagement of students, and dedication to making Hillel a
vibrant hub of Jewish life on campus.

These 11 leaders gather for meetings with the VP of their team every other week to envision
and create vibrant Jewish life on campus. Additionally, they will meet as a full board once a
month. The Hillel Fellows will work closely with their VP and collaborate with other Hillel
Fellows in their area to develop exciting programs and opportunities for Jewish growth. In
addition to their program and engagement budgets, Hillel Fellows will receive honoraria of up
to $100 at the conclusion of each quarter. Full honoraria will be granted for excellence in
participation in all meetings, creation of successful programs, engagement of students, and
dedication to making Hillel a vibrant hub of Jewish life on campus.

interests and skills as they relate to these particular positions.
Please see the descriptions on the cover page for overall information about Exec and Hillel Fellow positions. The
positions below in bold will comprise the Executive Board. Those individuals will serve as the primary leaders for
overarching areas of SB Hillel Programming and will entail additional responsibilities and benefits.
Each position listed below a VP will have specific responsibilities in that overall area which are unique to each role.
___President
The President will preside over Executive Board and Board meetings, motivate Executive Board members to succeed in making
Santa Barbara Hillel a vibrant hub of Jewish life, represent Hillel to the broader academic and general community, and work
closely with the SB Hillel Program Director to achieve excellence from the Executive Board and the Hillel Fellows.
___Finance VP
The VP of Finance will be directly responsible for advocating to AS and other granting organizations on behalf of Hillel
programming. They will work closely with the SB Hillel Program Director to keep financial records organized and up to date.
___Communications VP
The Communications VP will spearhead marketing for Hillel. This includes all forms of publicity and communications. This
individual should be well versed in social media (i.e. Facebook, twitter, etc.) as well as in design and layout. If you have an
interest in photography and scrapbooking, this is the position for you.
___Activities VP
The Activities VP oversees a wide array of programming areas to promote further social engagement. This individual should
have an interest in fostering a fun and social environment and a passion for creating alternative spaces in which students can
socialize.
___Hillel Fellow – Seniors and Alumni
This individual will work to engage and program for the senior class. This includes working closely with the Development
professional on staff in addition to the Activities VP in engaging seniors as they transition to alumni as well as to create and
implement strategies to engage alumni.
___Hillel Fellow – Social (2 positions available)
These individuals should be excited by working in a highly creative space. These individuals will work to offer an extensive
array of programming appealing to a wide range of student interests. These individuals will also be responsible for Kosher
Cookout prep, marketing, and implementation. They will work directly with the Activities VP.
___Engagement VP
The Engagement VP oversees the following positions with the intent to engage a maximum number of Jewish students
throughout the academic year. This individual must understand the needs of a wide demographic of students.
___Hillel Fellow – Freshman Outreach (2 positions available)
These individuals will be responsible for the engagement of Freshman students at Hillel and will work directly with the
Engagement VP.
___Hillel Fellow – Greek
This individual will be responsible for the engagement of SB’s Jewish Greek students and will work directly with the
Engagement VP.
___Hillel Fellow – SBCC
This individual will be responsible for the engagement of Santa Barbara Community College students and will work directly
with the Engagement VP.
___Jewish Life VP
The Jewish Life VP is responsible for creating a meaningful and enriching Jewish experience for SB Hillel students. This
individual oversees the following aspects of Jewish life, including Israel programming and corresponding with various Israel
groups on campus.
___Hillel Fellow – Shabbat
This individual will be responsible for developing themes to enhance Shabbat, coordinating set-up for Shabbat and ensuring that
the meal experience promotes community. This individual will also be responsible for coordinating Shabbat services and ensuring
that Shabbat is an experience that can be enjoyed by Jewish students of all types. He/she will work directly with the Jewish life
VP.
___Hillel Fellow – Holidays
This individual will plan and implement enriching, fun and exciting holiday programming. He/she will work directly with the
Jewish Life VP.
___Tzedek and Outreach VP
The Tzedek & Outreach VP is responsible for bringing all social action and tikkun olam programs to fruition. This individual
will work closely with the Hillel Program Director to oversee the organization of Alternative Spring Breaks and engagement of
both the Board of Trustees as well as interfaith groups.
___Hillel Fellow – Community Service (Local and Abroad)
This individual should have a passion for social action and tikkun olam. He/she will work to coordinate and market local
community service projects as well as Alternative Spring Breaks. This individual will work directly with the Tzedek VP.
___Hillel Fellow – Partnerships with Student Orgs
This individual will work to engage and collaborate with interfaith and SB student organizations to build bridges and foster
meaningful connections in the larger campus community. He/she will work directly with the Tzedek & Outreach VP.
