LESS THAN A DIME A DAY! How much will a one mill levy cost you? The cost varies among homeowners based on the value of their homes. Example: For real estate tax purposes, the county auditor assesses a $100,000 home at 35% or $35,000. A one mill levy costs that homeowner $35 per year: ($35,000 X .001 = $35) $35 divided by 365 days = $.095 Vong is now easier than ever! ⇒ ⇒ ⇒ Vote at the Polls on November 6th, 2012 Vote at the Board of Elections before Elec2on Day Vote by Absent Voter’s Ballot Call the Board of Elec2ons at (740) 947-4512 for informa2on and important deadlines or stop by in person at 230 Waverly Plaza, Suite 1100, Waverly. DID YOU KNOW? Your taxes will not increase as this is a Renewal Levy. Most of Ohio’s 88 Counties have a Senior Citizens Levy. Meals on Wheels and personal care services help senior citizens stay in their own homes longer. In 2011, 60,835 meals and 25,764 personal care hours were provided through the Pike County Senior Citizens Center. Thanks to the Senior Citizens Levy, senior services continued despite drastic cuts in federal and state funding in 2010. The need for home delivered meals and personal care is rapidly increasing and expected to double during the next 10 years. Vote YES November 6th!!! I love you!” on a banana peel using a toothpick. By lunchtime, the marks will turn brown and your message will appear. Hull strawberries and cut them in half lengthwise to look like hearts. Nestle “hearts” halves in muffin batter and bake for a sweet breakfast treat. Cut the crusts off a regular sandwich, then cut two corners off to make a triangle roof shape on top. Use the crusts to outline the roof and to make a front door. Butterfly bag Cheese guy Make a butterfly snack bag by filling a snack-size bag half full with crackers, granola mix, carrots, or grapes. Scrunch the bag in the middle and clip on a clothespin. Turn a stick of string cheese into a cute little friend by cutting strings of “hair” about a quarter of the way down. On the opposite side, cut cheese in half about halfway down to make legs. Cut arms, and, optionally, add on a face using an edible marker or sesame seeds. Apple Bites Flower Power Tasty Rainbow Smear a bit of peanut butter or honey on each of two red apple slices. Sandwich marshmallow “teeth” between the slices and you have funny treat. Using flower-shaped cookie cutters of different sizes, cut layers o f bread (large), meat (medium), and cheese (small) and layer to make an edible flower. Pizza Face English muffin smiley-face pizzas are the perfect snack to tide hungry kids over until supper. Layer jarred spaghetti sauce and pepperoni on half an English muffin. Use sliced olives for the eyes and mouth, and cut a hunk of cheese for the nose. Zap in the microwave or under the toaster oven until warmed. Create a rainbow of fruit by lining up strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, green grapes, blueberries, and red grapes in a rectangular snack box or on a wooden skewer. Write a note of encouragement Writing notes to your child will help with communication and give them encouragement to have a great day. The notes don’t always have to be “love” notes you can put a joke in there or a surprise. Columbus will be putting on the 46th Annual Oktoberfest at the Ohio Expo Center on the Ohio State Fairgrounds September 28th - 30th. At the Columbus Oktoberfest there is something for everyone from authentic food, bands, kids play area, and craft vendors. Admission is free but there is charge for parking. Across the river from Cincinnati in Newport, they have the Hofbraushaus, which is an authentic German restaurant that is modeled from the original in Munich, Germany. It is actually the first authentic Hofbraushaus in America. Looking for a good German style restaurant? Try Schmidt’s Restaurant and Sausage Haus in Columbus, OH. Schmidt’s is known for their Bahama Mama’s and their Cream Puffs. Schmidt’s started as a meat packing plant in 1886 and in the 1920’s moved into the restaurant/concession business. As one the favorite concession stands at the state fair it is also the second oldest at the fair. In 1967 Schmidt’s Restaurant officially opened around the corner of the meat packing plant.
