OGAE Greece was founded in 1988 and since 2000 it is officially recognized from the Greek
state. Since its establishment, at least one of its members attended the Eurovision Song
Contest every year since 1999.
From 2000 and on, OGAE Greece members attended the contest in quantities. In 2003 OGAE
Greece invented an annual game for its members called MPLE. The initials in Greek (ΜΠΛΕ =
Μουσικό
Παιχνίδι

Eurovision) stand for Music Game for Eurovision Lovers. All OGAE Greece members are
divided in teams of 2 or more persons (no more than 5) and a draw is taking place in January.
All teams are obliged to find a song from the country that has been selected for them during the
drawing and present a complete file of participation (song, lyrics, photos) to a special committee
that was formed for that reason in December. All submissions are searched thoroughly and then
presented to the members. Another draw takes place and divides all teams/countries in two
separate semifinals. Each team votes in their perspective semifinal (in fact each person of the
team gives their score separately, then added to the score of the other members of the team)
and the committee (and only them) finds out which countries make it to the final. 12 countries
from each semifinal meet last year’s winning country in the final and special video clips are
made for each one of them! MPLE festival takes place in November and that very night all
members find out which countries made it to the final. All countries/teams vote in the final (just
like Eurovision) and the big night ends with the announcement of the winner. During the festival
big Eurovision entrants may attend the show. In 2011 Lys Assia (CH 1956, 1957, 1958), Anne
Marie David (LUX 1973, FR 1979) and Alenka Gotar (SL 2007) were MPLE’s special guests,
giving fine live renditions of their Eurovision entries and more! In fact Lys Assia presented the
song “C’est ma vie” for the very first time live on MPLE stage!

Every January OGAE Greece invites their members to a 3-day excursion somewhere in the
middle of Greece, so that all members can be close and attend. And when the Eurovision period
starts meetings with each participant of the Greek Final are arranged with very big attendance!
Big parties with pure Eurovision music are also arranged throughout the year! And all members
have free pass in the national final!
