Subjective area competence
My main subject of knowledge is in the field of epidemiology, psychological theory, and
research methodology as applied in the public health sciences. In particular, epidemiological
analysis, health psychology, biostatistics, prevention, and research design. My research
focus concerns analyses of inequalities in health, evaluation of internet-based interventions
for behavior change and stress-reduction, and surveillance of health determinants in the
general population.
Scientific collaborations
Sexual and Gender Minority Health – A European wide initiative with the aim to: increase
knowledge on sexual and gender minority populations differences in health and health care
in Europe; promote monitoring of health disparities among LGBT populations; explore the
underlying mechanisms and reasons for health disparities in this group; spread knowledge
on sexual and gender minority populations differences in health and health care; and
promote the development of interventions that aim to tackle these differences.
Melanoma Genetics Consortium, GenoMEL - The Melanoma Genetics Consortium,
GenoMEL, is an international consortium with members from 11 European countries,
Canada, Australia, Israel and the USA. The collaboration was initiated in 2003 and in 2005
the consortium received extensive funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework
Program (FP7). Since December 2005, I have been responsible for the behavioral research
endeavors within the consortia. I have had the main responsibility for conducting a large
scale international collection of behavioral data relevant for melanoma development,
prevention and detection in 12 countries, and the analysis and reporting.
