OURNEY TO THE HOLY LAND -with

7th January – 18th/23rd January 2016
DAY 1: Thursday 7 January
DEPART SYDNEY
Depart Sydney this afternoon at 1705 on your Thai Airways flight,
TG472, to Bangkok. On arrival at 2235, transfer to your El Al Israel
Airlines flight, LY82, to Tel Aviv departing at 0020 (31January).
DAY 2: Friday 8 January
ARRIVE ISRAEL, JAFFA, CAESAREA, MT CARMEL, HAIFA
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport International Airport this morning at
0640. You will be met and assisted by your guide and driver. Travel to
the ancient port city of Jaffa (Joppa). Continue along the coast of
the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea, where Gentiles first heard the
Good News from Peter and were baptised. See the Roman Amphitheatre and aqueduct. Travel to Mt Carmel, with spectacular views
across the Jezreel Valley. Finally, you’ll check into your hotel in Haifa
and enjoy early dinner and an early night (D)
DAY 3: Saturday 9 January
MEGIDDO, NAZARETH, CANA, SEPPHORIS
After breakfast, drive to Megiddo to visit the archaeological
excavations including the well preserved water supply system.
Continue on to Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. Passing
through Cana, visit the lovely Tzipori (Zaphorus). In the afternoon,
enjoy dinner and overnight at the Nof Ginosar Kibbutz Hotel on the
Shores of the Sea of Galilee. (B,D)
DAY 4: Sunday 10 January
KORAZIM, BANIAS, TEL DAN, & KURSI
Visit Korazim before we travel to Caesarea Philippi. See the Banias
spring and waterfall where Jesus was recognized as the Messiah by
his disciples. Continue to Tel Dan. Tour the Golan Heights with its
valleys, grazing land and snow capped mountains. Return to
Tiberias with a last stop at Kursi. Dinner and overnight is at the Nof
Ginosar Kibbutz Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 5: Monday 11 January
CAPERNAUM & MOUNT OF BEATITUDES
Following breakfast, we visit the Ancient 1st Century boat “Jesus
Boat” found on the shores of the lake. Then we take a boat ride
booked for our group at 9.15 am across the Sea of Galilee. Our
morning travels then take us to Capernaum to visit the ruins of an
ancient synagogue and Peter's home. Then travel on to Mensa
Christi, where Jesus asked Peter do you love me. Then on to the site
of the multiplication of loaves and fishes at Tabgha and then to
Mount of the Beatitudes overlooking the Sea. Dinner and overnight
at the Nof Ginosar Kibbutz Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 6: Tuesday 12 January
BETH SHEAN, JORDAN VALLEY, JERICHO, BETHLEHEM
Drive down the Jordan Rift Valley and visit Beth-Shean, one of the
ancient Decapolis cities and visit the Roman theatre and Colosseum. Continue through the Jordan Valley to Jericho where we can
stop for lunch and to see the Tel excavations there. We drive up to
Jerusalem past Bethany and on to Bethlehem to see the Church of
Nativity and below it the cave-stable of Jesus’ birth. Enjoy dinner
and overnight at the Olive Tree Hotel in Jerusalem. (B.D)
DAY 7: Wednesday 13 January
QUMRAN, MASADA, & THE DEAD SEA
This morning, we travel through the Judean wilderness south of
Jerusalem to the lowest place on earth - the Dead Sea. See the
Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
Continue via Ein Gedi to Masada, the last stronghold of the Jews
after the Destruction of the Second Temple in AD 70. Ascend
Masada by cable car and visit the food storeroom, water irrigation
system and Herod’s Palace. Enjoy floating in the Dead Sea, before
returning to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight at the Olive Tree
Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 8: Thursday 14 January
CITY OF DAVID, MT ZION, NEW CITY
This morning, subject to fine weather, we visit Siloam Pools in the City
of David. We’ll walk through the newly excavated tunnel and up to
the Southern Wall entrance, at the Davidson Archaeological
Centre. See the rolling stones at Tomb of the Kings. On Mt. Zion we
see the "Upper Room" where the disciple whom Jesus loved laid his
head on his breast and where later Thomas cried; "my Lord & my
God." One of the most educational and interesting attractions is a
scale model of the ancient city. You will grow in your understanding
of the intricate details of the Temple decor as well as the type of
housing that stood inside and outside the walls. Visit Yad Vashem,
Israel’s memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. Return to the Olive
Tree Hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,D)
DAY 9: Friday 15 January
DAY OF LEISURE
Enjoy the day at leisure for any independent sightseeing, shopping
or relaxation. Dinner and overnight at the Olive Tree Hotel (B,D)
DAY 10: Saturday 16 January
JERUSALEM, DEPARTURE
Our sightseeing of Jerusalem will begin from atop the Mount of
Olives, where we will enjoy a panoramic view of Jerusalem, Mount
Moriah and the Dome of the Rock Mosque. Continue down the Mt.
of Olives to visit to the Garden of Gethsemane. Enter the Old City
through Zion Gate and walk through the Jewish quarter, with a view
of the Western Wall, to the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus cured the
cripple. We visit the Herodian Palatial Mansion (of one of the High
Priests). We move on to the Judgement Hall of Pilate, hear of those
who conspired against Him, are reminded of His brutal beating and
humiliation. While walking along the Via Dolorosa, we are reminded
of His way of suffering; view the Church of the Sepulchre. We also
visit Christ Church near Jaffa Gate. Those participants flying home
this evening will have the opportunity to purchase a falafel or
schwarma for early dinner before being transferred to Ben Gurion
International Airport this evening for your return El Al Israel Airlines
flight to Bangkok, LY 81, departing at 2305. On arrival into Bangkok at
1450 (30 Jan) connect with your return Thai Airways flight to Sydney,
TG475 departing at 1910.
DAY 12: Monday 18 January
ARRIVE SYDNEY
Arrive back into Sydney this morning at 0830 with some wonderful
memories of a fabulous trip!

JORDAN EXTENSION
DAY 10: Saturday 16 January
JERUSALEM
Our sightseeing of Jerusalem will begin from atop the Mount of

DAY 11: Sunday 17 January
ALLENBY, GADARA (UM QAIS) & JERASH
This morning, leave Jerusalem and cross into Jordan via Allenby
Bridge. Proceed to the excavations at Um Qais of one of the
Decapolis Cities also known as Gadara. Enjoy a stunning view of the
Golan and the Kinnereth. Then to the Roman city of Jerash, popularly called the Pompeii of the East. There we see the Elliptical Forum,
the street of columns, the Temple of Artemis and Roman theatres
before continuing to Amman for dinner and overnight at the Crown
Plaza Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 12: Monday 18 January
MADABA, MT NEBO, MACHAERUS, PETRA
Drive back up to the Christian village of Madeba to see the ancient
mosaic map of the Holy Land. Also see the remains of Byzantine
church with their mosaic floors. Drive on to Mount Nebo where
Moses viewed the Promised Land. You can see the Jordan Valley,
Jericho and the Judean hills beyond. Stop at One of Jordan’s
undiscovered gems which is Herod the Great’s ancient fortress of
Machaerus, located by the village of Mkawer before continuing to
Petra for dinner and overnight at the Beit Zaman Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 13: Tuesday 19 January
PETRA
Enjoy a full day to explore the Red Rose city of Petra. Walk to the site
through the dramatic "ciq" or canyon. See the Treasury, carved in
the pink stone, and continue past the Roman theatre, the Corinthian Tomb and Palace Tomb to the Roman road. For those who
wish to take the 60 minute walk to the Monastery they will be
rewarded with one of the best sites in Petra. Dinner and overnight is
at the Beit Zaman Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 14: Wednesday 20 January
WADI RUM, AMMAN
This morning, leave Petra and take a tour of Wadi Rum using a 4
wheel Jeep ride. Wadi Rum is scene of many of Lawrence of
Arabia's exploits, set in dramatic desert scenery of buttes, sand
dunes and Bedouin tribes. Return to Amman via the Desert Highway.
Dinner and overnight is at the Crown Plaza Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 15: Thursday 21 January
BAPTISMAL SITE, DEPART JORDAN VIA ISRAEL
Enjoy a slow morning in Amman. Leave Amman and drive to the
Baptismal site near the Jordan River, before crossing into Israel to
Ben Gurion International Airport for your return El Al Israel Airlines
flight to Bangkok, LY81, departing at 2305. On arrival into Bangkok at
1450 (04 Feb), connect with your return Thai Airways flight to Sydney,
TG475 departing at 1820(B)
DAY 17: Saturday 23 Janauary
ARRIVE SYDNEY
Arrive back into Sydney this morning at 0740 with some wonderful
memories of a fabulous trip!
