PORSCHE CARS AUSTRALIA
DIRECTOR – PUBLIC RELATIONS & MOTORSPORT
Porsche is the envy of the sports car world.
As a business, our global automotive sales continue to reach new heights
as we eclipse record after record. And on the race track, our success also
continues; our proud German brand recording a historic 17th victory of the
24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015 with countless additional sports car wins
worldwide.
And with eight Carrera Cup championships and 11 GT3 Cup Challenge
series globally, Porsche has an unprecedented level of one-make customer
racing. That's where we come in.
We all celebrated when Porsche won the gruelling Le Mans enduro, and
when Aussie hero Mark Webber claimed his maiden LMP1 win. Locally,
however, we measure success differently. Not necessarily by lapping the
quickest. Nor by always finishing first.
4
In Australia, Porsche's objectives are clear: To ensure Porsche Carrera Cup
Australia remains the country's leading, most professional, premium and
enjoyable motor racing championship where our customers are
unquestionably satisfied, no matter where they place on track.
We believe our Carrera Cup is the best motor racing championship in
Australia, though we must constantly evolve and improve to remain at the
forefront of sports car racing in Australia.
For 2016 we have introduced a new track destination, returned the hugely
popular Rennsport event and attracted Porsche Carrera Cup Asia for a
combined round in Sydney, as well as increased resources within our
Motorsport Department to better service our teams and drivers.
In the coming year we will also ensure our drivers continue to leave each
event with a smile; with their teams, families and friends also feeling great
having enjoyed a terrific weekend of Porsche motorsport.
5
It is also our objective to ensure all our event and team sponsors feel proud
to be involved with Porsche.
Forging strong and long lasting relationships is essential to successful
business and in 2016 we aim to make that success even greater for all our
stakeholders.

KURT SAKZEWSKI
PORSCHE CARS AUSTRALIA
MOTORSPORT MANAGER
Welcome to Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, 2016 edition.
The 2015 season, my first in the role of Motorsport Manager, was immensely
enjoyable and made apparent why this formula is so successful in Australia.
It has everything – the profile, community, stability and innovation
required to succeed. However, in this day and age we need to keep
improving to stay ahead of the motorsport game.
At Porsche, we constantly ask ourselves how we can improve, innovate
and ultimately perfect the Carrera Cup product in Australia. The answer: to
brew the perfect mix of stability and innovation to ensure we deliver our
continued level of premium motorsport with a fresh twist each season.
Carrera Cup thrives on the stability of attending the best motor racing
events in the country – Clipsal 500, Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix,
Bathurst 1000 and the Gold Coast 600. And the popular series delivers the
authenticity of one-make racing where success, more than ever, is reliant
on driver input.
8
And in 2016, we are introducing new innovations that will make this
season the most enjoyable yet.
Firstly, we have the pleasure of hosting our Porsche Carrera Cup Asia
neighbours at our Sydney Motorsport Park round in August. This event
will give us the unique ability to pit Asia's best professional and semiprofessional sports car drivers against our local talent for the first time and
will allow for a spectacular Pan-Pacific gathering of 911 GT3 Cup cars.
In 2016, Darwin returns to the Carrera Cup calendar for the first time since
2007. The Northern Territory capital lights up with the arrival of the V8
Supercar circus every year and will provide not only enjoyable circuit
racing, but also a truly incredible northern Australian experience for our
teams and drivers in June, 2016.
9
We also welcome the return of Porsche Rennsport Australia – the allPorsche motor racing festival that debuted in 2013 at Sydney Motorsport
Park. With its success, Porsche is again holding the popular motor racing
event, at which Carrera Cup will headline with its annual Pro-Am.
These new elements, and many more to come, will ensure we deliver the
perfect motor racing blend in 2016.
See you in Adelaide.

ABOUT US
Now in its 12th season, Porsche Carrera Cup Australia is the top one-make
sports car championship in the country.
Owned and operated by Porsche Cars Australia, the championship
exclusively uses the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 991) car – a purpose-built
race car constructed at the home of Porsche in Germany.
The stars of Carrera Cup range from experienced high-profile racers and
young up-and-comers to businessmen who hold their own behind the
wheel of a race car. This mix of professional and semi-professional drivers
provides both the high level of popularity and exposure and strong
foundations for a successful motor racing championship.
The one-make Porsche formula is a proven success, with Carrera Cup
championships successfully racing in eight regions around the globe –
Australia, Asia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and Scandinavia.
12
Porsche hosts these championships in conjunction with its top-tier
international one-make championship, Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, which
races solely as a Formula 1 support category.
The majority of Carrera Cup rounds in Australia are held at V8 Supercars
events, with the 2016 championship to continue its annual Formula 1
Australian Grand Prix visit and headline the second running of Porsche
Rennsport Australia.

PROFESSIONAL CLASS
The Professional Class consists of some of the country's top motor racing
drivers. Traditionally, two types of driver have filled the role of a Professional
Class driver: Young up-and-coming talent looking to make a career in
V8 Supercars or international sports car racing, and experienced drivers
aiming to continue racing in a professional, competitive championship.
TAG HEUER CARRERA CHALLENGE
Porsche Carrera Cup Australia's 'race within a race', the TAG Heuer Carrera
Challenge consists of semi-professional racers. For these drivers, Porsche
racing is their weekend's game of golf, though they are intensely
competitive and often challenge their professional counterparts on track.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Challenge class is for racing enthusiasts aged over
35 who have not received an income from driving related activities.

Porsche provides a clear pathway for drivers' careers. In Australia, a young
driver entering GT3 Cup Challenge or Carrera Cup will have the ability to
progress up the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid and into a professional motor
racing career. For older enthusiasts, the same structure allows these drivers
to hone their skills and become more confident and capable at the wheel
of a Porsche.
Conversely, Porsche race cars move down the Pyramid within Australia.
Once imported by Porsche, 911 GT3 Cup cars will be eligible for Carrera
Cup competition for its generational cycle before being subsequently
eligible for GT3 Cup Challenge and Porsche Club competition.

JUNIOR PROGRAMME
Every year, the most successful drivers from the international Porsche
one-make series are nominated by the respective Porsche Carrera Cup
and invited by Porsche Motorsport to a common assessment event.
Over the course of two days, the one-make series drivers try to set the
fastest possible lap time as well as demonstrating their technical
understanding and their analytical skills while setting up the Porsche 911
GT3 Cup cars. The winner is sponsored with 200,000 Euro as a Porsche
Junior in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
In 2016, Porsche will again send its best young talent from Carrera Cup
Australia to the Junior Programme Shootout for their shot at becoming
a Porsche Junior.

2016 PARTNERS
PORSCHE CARS AUSTRALIA
Porsche Cars Australia has proudly supported Carrera Cup racing in
Australia since the category's introduction in 2003.
As Porsche's first right-hand drive export market (established 1951),
Australia has enjoyed a special and very close relationship with the Porsche
factory. Today, Porsche Cars Australia, as a wholly owned subsidiary of
Porsche AG, is responsible for annual sales of around 3,500 Porsches.
Porsche Cars Australia's long-standing and loyal relationships with its
customers – whether they drive Porsches for sport or pleasure – is based
on more than six decades of commitment and experience.
Australia is acknowledged by Porsche headquarters as being an
“enthusiast's”market; which goes a long way to explaining why Australia
boasts ratios of 911 GT3, GT3 RS and Turbo sales that are amongst the
highest per capita anywhere.

MICHELIN AUSTRALIA
OFFICIAL PARTNER AND TYRE SUPPLIER
Globally Michelin's involvement with Porsche Carrera Cup is more than just
supplying tyres; it is a technical partnership with designers from Michelin
working closely with Porsche to develop a tyre that ensures the total
performance of the cars on which it is fitted.
At the heart of the company's strategy is the philosophy of MICHELIN Total
Performance. This strategy delivers enhanced safety, longevity, fuel savings,
and driving pleasure, without compromise.
For Michelin, racing is a technological laboratory at the service of
innovation. After being tested in the extreme conditions of a race track,
innovations that increase tread life, ensure sustainable tyre performance,
improve safety and enhance energy efficiency are then used to develop
Michelin passenger car tyres.
66
Michelin has tasted success in 24 Hour of Le Mans, the World Endurance
Championship, and more locally Porsche Carrera Cup Australia. With an
impressive record of 24 victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including taking
out an 18th consecutive victory in 2015, Michelin is a proven world leader.
The highly successful Michelin and Porsche partnership also extends off
the track. Many of Porsche's most demanding vehicles, such as the 991 GT3
and 918 Spyder, come fitted with Michelin as standard, helping to create
the legendary Porsche driving experience.

Mobil 1 stands for innovative developments, high quality engineering and

synthetic oil provides for the lubrication of the 460 hp engines of the race
cars as well as for road cars.
Every single Porsche engine is filled with Mobil 1 ex works. Due to the
