Photo by Lon Reeder. Editor's Message By Chris Berner Welcome to the July Driver’s Seat. I want to introduce myself to everyone as the new editor of Driver’s Seat and Zuffenhausen News. My wife and I have recently relocated to the Tucson area from Bellingham, WA. We have been coming to the area as winter visitors since 2005, but have finally taken the plunge to be here year round. It’s been a bit of an adjustment experiencing the summer heat for the first time, but all in all, we are very pleased with our decision and our new surroundings. A bit about me – I’ve been a “car guy” my entire life having worked my way through numerous VWs, BMWs and Porsches over the years. Once I experienced the feel of German cars there was no turning back. As we all know it gets under your skin and you are quickly hooked for life. One of my best friends in high school drove an old, beat up 924 and we both drooled over his father’s guards red 911 RS America, savoring as many rides in that beautiful machine as we could get. Probably one of the reasons I now drive a guards red 997 C2S. I work as a freelance writer/marketing consultant out of my home office in Marana and write and edit copy for ads, brochures, web sites, blogs, PR releases and magazine articles. When I saw the posting for the editor’s position, I thought it would be a great way to put my professional skills together with my love of Porsches and have some fun at the same time. I hope to fill Axel Olsen’s very big shoes and offer up some new and different ideas as well. Summer is traditionally one of our slower times of the year, so there's no membership meeting for the month and our only club event is the annual 4th of July Celebration at the Dakota Bar and Grill. Details are on page 5 and we hope to see you there. I hope everyone stays cool and gets out as much as possible to enjoy their cars. Drive on!
