Editor's Message
By Chris Berner
Welcome to the July Driver’s Seat. I want to introduce
myself to everyone as the new editor of Driver’s Seat
and Zuffenhausen News.
My wife and I have recently relocated to the Tucson area
from Bellingham, WA. We have been coming to the
area as winter visitors since 2005, but have finally taken
the plunge to be here year round. It’s been a bit of an
adjustment experiencing the summer heat for the first
time, but all in all, we are very pleased with our decision
and our new surroundings.
A bit about me – I’ve been a “car guy” my entire life
having worked my way through numerous VWs, BMWs
and Porsches over the years. Once I experienced the feel
of German cars there was no turning back. As we all
know it gets under your skin and you are quickly hooked
for life. One of my best friends in high school drove an
old, beat up 924 and we both drooled over his father’s
guards red 911 RS America, savoring as many rides in
that beautiful machine as we could get. Probably one of
the reasons I now drive a guards red 997 C2S.
I work as a freelance writer/marketing consultant out of
my home office in Marana and write and edit copy for
ads, brochures, web sites, blogs, PR releases and
magazine articles. When I saw the posting for the
editor’s position, I thought it would be a great way to put
my professional skills together with my love of Porsches
and have some fun at the same time. I hope to fill Axel
Olsen’s very big shoes and offer up some new and
different ideas as well.
Summer is traditionally one of our slower times of the
year, so there's no membership meeting for the month
and our only club event is the annual 4th of July
Celebration at the Dakota Bar and Grill. Details are on
page 5 and we hope to see you there.
I hope everyone stays cool and gets out as much as
possible to enjoy their cars. Drive on!

Congratulations to PCA SAR for
our outstanding web site!
The club was honored at this year's Parade
at Jay Peak with a third place PCA Website
Award in Class II for the PCA SAR website.
A hearty thank you goes out to Steve
Darcangelo and Amy Olsen for all their
hard work and efforts to create a great
product.
EARLY WARNING!! We are looking at 3 years
in a row of SAR sponsoring a tour on Drive Your
356 Day. This year it will be on Sunday
September 18th. Right now I am looking at a
morning run to the Velvet Elvis in Patagonia for
one of the best Pizzas ever found in Arizona.
Anyone with some other suggestions should
email me bob.strickler@gmail.com. Otherwise
you are stuck with Great Pizza! More
information will follow in the next issue. Save the
date. Bob
