TRANSFER ADMISSION
GUARANTEE
Are you planning to transfer to UC Davis from a California community college? Make sure you’re on track with the
UC Transfer Admission Planner (UC TAP) and a UC Davis Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG). We collaborate
with California community colleges to offer TAG, which lets you know at least a year before you transfer exactly which
courses you must take and the grades you must earn to guarantee admission to UC Davis in your first-choice major.
WHAT IS A UC Davis TAG?
A UC Davis TAG is a formal, written agreement assuring fall admission to UC Davis in your desired major. The online TAG contract will outline the
courses you must complete, the GPA you must maintain and any other admission requirements. The approved contract guarantees your admission as
long as you meet the terms of your contract and apply for admission during the UC application filing period.
Who is eligible for a UC Davis TAG?
Domestic and international students who are enrolled full time at any California community college between spring 2015 and spring 2016 are eligible for
a fall 2016 UC Davis TAG. Part-time enrollment is permissible for good cause; students should provide a brief explanation on their UC TAG Application
giving their reasons for part-time attendance. A TAG may not be written for individuals who, beginning fall 2015, are working toward high school
graduation while simultaneously enrolled at a California community college, or who are simultaneously attending a California community college and a
four-year institution. Visit tag.ucdavis.edu/students for additional details regarding TAG eligibility.
What are the requirements to qualify for a UC Davis TAG?
TAG requirements can change annually—UC Davis TAG criteria are released to California community colleges each May. We strongly encourage you
to meet with your counselor and review requirement updates on the UC Davis TAG website at tag.ucdavis.edu/students between mid-May and early
September.
The following minimum requirements for fall 2016 applicants must be completed by the end of summer 2015:
■■
30 UC-transferable semester (45 quarter) units
■■
3.20–3.30 UC-transferable GPA (dependent upon major)
The UC Davis TAG requires you to self-report a complete academic history and a plan that demonstrates how you will fulfill UC transfer admission and
UC Davis selective major requirements by a specified deadline. Please visit tag.ucdavis.edu/students for details.
HOW SHOULD I START PLANNING MY tag?
The UC TAP will help you plan out the courses you need to complete for your UC Davis major. As soon as possible, begin posting coursework on
the UC Transfer Admission Planner (UC TAP) at uctap.universityofcalifornia.edu. Discuss transfer goals and TAG opportunities with your transfer/
counseling center representative as soon as you enroll at your California community college. Six UC campuses participate in the TAG program, and each
campus has their own unique process and guidelines. The criteria required to qualify for a TAG can change annually in May, so we suggest that you meet
with your community college counselor between mid-May and early September one year in advance of your planned UC Davis enrollment.
When can I begin my UC TAG Application and when do I submit it?
Start your UC TAG Application online using the UC TAP account you created at uctap.universityofcalifornia.edu. Submit the UC TAG Application in
September, one year prior to your planned enrollment. Once submitted, your primary California community college and UC Davis partner to review and
approve your UC Davis TAG.
DO I NEED A TAG TO BE ADMITTED TO UC Davis?
No. A TAG has many benefits, including guaranteed admission and strong academic preparation resulting from specialized counseling. While we
encourage students to arrange for a TAG if possible, you may still be a competitive applicant for admission through the regular UC application process.
