Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Cigars
The Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva series is the flagship of the
esteemed Arturo Fuente brand. Representing four generations of
family tradition, every Arturo Fuente cigar carries the personal
family touch that makes it one of the world’s finest. Only the
highest quality vintage tobaccos and hand workmanship go into
Arturo Fuente cigars, resulting in a blend of art and craftsmanship.
Each leaf is selected from a private reserve set aside exclusively for
the making of these cigars. These fine tobaccos are internationally
recognized for their superiority. Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva cigars
are then skillfully rolled with African Cameroon, Connecticut shade
or Ecuadorian sungrown wrappers. Taking absolutely no shortcuts,
every step of the cigar making process is done completely by hand,
to ensure a finished cigar without parallel. The cigars are then
aged in Spanish cedar vaults to the peak of perfection to create
a marriage of the blends producing an excellent “individualistic”
heavyweight cigar to be counted among the world’s finest.

“My grandfather made Perfecto cigars; they were
very popular during the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. When
I was growing up we made perfectos by hand, but
as time went by there were fewer and fewer cigar
makers rolling perfectos. As the cigar makers grew
older, they retired, they passed away. It took a real
master to make a true Perfecto cigar.“
“As a child I was fascinated with that shape and
the really difficult art of the craft that the Perfecto
cigar represents. So when we first came to the
Dominican Republic in 1980, I thought we should
start making those shapes again. At that time nobody
was making shaped cigars. I wanted to bring back
that old world style, just to keep the art, the tradition,
the craft, alive.“

In September of 1998, Hurricane Georges tore through the Carribbean Sea causing
widespread destruction throughout the region, including the famous Chateau de la
Fuente farm in the Dominican Republic, where the wrapper leaf for the acclaimed
Fuente Fuente OpusX cigar is grown and harvested.
Two years later the storm’s destruction resulted in a shortage of Fuente Fuente OpusX
wrapper tobacco. Rather than halting production, Carlos Fuente Jr. ordered the use of a
different wrapper, an aged Connecticut broadleaf. Once again, the Fuente family forged
triumph from tragedy, and the Arturo Fuente Añejo cigar was born.
One of the world’s most rare cigars, the Añejo cigar is rolled with the very best
Dominican filler and binder from Chateau de la Fuente, then adds a 5-year-old
Connecticut maduro wrapper aged in a Cognac barrel. This blend yields a rich, spicy,
slightly sweet smoke and the unique aging process leaves a distinct finish.
Typically only available at Father’s Day and Christmas, this cigar is one of the most
exclusive cigars in the world today.
