very popular during the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. When
I was growing up we made perfectos by hand, but
as time went by there were fewer and fewer cigar
makers rolling perfectos. As the cigar makers grew
older, they retired, they passed away. It took a real
master to make a true Perfecto cigar.“

using the time-honored traditions he learned from his father as a young boy. His intent was to recreate the experience and

The Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro is the best-known castle fortress in Cuba and was built to
guard the Bay of Havana. Construction began in 1589 and was completed in 1660.

In September of 1998, Hurricane Georges tore through the Carribbean Sea causing
widespread destruction throughout the region, including the famous Chateau de la
Fuente farm in the Dominican Republic, where the wrapper leaf for the acclaimed
Fuente Fuente OpusX cigar is grown and harvested.
Two years later the storm’s destruction resulted in a shortage of Fuente Fuente OpusX
wrapper tobacco. Rather than halting production, Carlos Fuente Jr. ordered the use of a
different wrapper, an aged Connecticut broadleaf. Once again, the Fuente family forged
triumph from tragedy, and the Arturo Fuente Añejo cigar was born.
One of the world’s most rare cigars, the Añejo cigar is rolled with the very best
Dominican filler and binder from Chateau de la Fuente, then a 5-year-old Connecticut
maduro wrapper aged in a Cognac barrel is added. This blend yields a rich, spicy,
slightly sweet smoke and the unique aging process leaves a distinct finish.
Typically only available at Father’s Day and Christmas, this cigar is one of the most
exclusive cigars in the world today.

Rich maduro wrapper leaves aged in Cognac
barrels make the Arturo Fuente Añejo cigar a
unique smoke. While this line features several
different sizes, it is home to one of the world’s
most famous shapes, the No. 77 or Shark as it is
commonly known. The Shark is the first torpedo
shaped cigar ever rolled that progresses from a
rounded parejo shape to a square press, as shown

commemorate the company’s 100 year anniversary.
Made with wrappers from Chateau de la Fuente, this
line of cigars uses a Habano seed rather than the
Corojo seed variety used to make the renown Fuente
Fuente OpusX. Destino al Siglo will delight those who prefer a full-flavor, robust smoke.
This cigar which is so exquisite, could only be contained in the finest packaging, from the beautifully detailed cigar band to
the Spanish cedar lift-out trays, the packaging is ornate and designed so that is looks like a book. A century of destiny that
marks a major milestone in the Fuente family story.
Carlos Fuente, Jr., the cigars creator, remarks that the cigar represents the Fuente family story, the heritage, the love for the
family and friends, the love for our supporters, our neighbors, it represents everybody. “That’s what I tried to compose,”
says Carlos. “That’s why even the sizes are Siglo de Amistad (Century of Friendship), Siglo de Passion (Century of Passion),
Siglo de Amor (Century of Love), and Siglo de Familia (Century of Family). It’s a special cigar with a special meaning. There
are a lot of symbols and messages all over the label. Even the color is significant – why blue? Because my grandfather’s
original label, the one that I remember when I was a little boy, had the shield with AF the same as we have today, but
instead of being red it was blue. It was that [shade of] blue. I was the one who changed the shield to red, probably back in
the late 70s. So I thought it would be appropriate to go back to my grandfather’s original color for this label.”

The term “Angel’s Share” is used in the wine making
process. Wine makers often use oak barrels to store
their wine during the aging process. When the
wine ages for long periods of time, some of it will
evaporate from the barrel. The evaporated wine is
called the Angel’s Share, alluding to the belief that
the guardian angels that watch over the wine, sample
it and give their blessings.
Since we lost so much priceless aged tobacco during
the fire in 2012, the inspiration for this cigar came
from that exact term. The warehouses that burned
down contained tobacco that had been aging since
the late 40’s and 50’s. The Fuente family was saving it
for the special, 100 year anniversary. Unfortunately, it
wasn’t meant to be as the fire consumed much of the
precious tobacco. It made the family extremely sad
and depressed, but out of that came the Angel’s Share
cigar. From this it is implied that the Angels enjoyed
the enticing aroma from the tobacco that burned
in the barns, but in turn, gave their blessings to the
Fuente family for future successful endeavors.
The Fuente Fuente OpusX Angel’s Share uses a
wrapper from the middle priming of the tobacco plant
as opposed to the top priming from which Fuente
Fuente OpusX are typically made. Carlos Fuente Jr.
focused more on this part of the plant, which he
believes is where most of the heart and flavor is.
