The situation is the same now especially for the Copts who make 10% of Egypt’s population and try like the rest of the people to keep their presence through the Egyptian parliamentary elections. The Church immediately encouraged her children to participate in them efficiently because the homeland requires in this period every citizen’s contribution to build the future. So, this category broke its silence, participated by 70% of the total number of Copts, and began a “process of building a new society” according to the Patriarch of Catholic Copts in Alexandria Cardinal Antonios Najib who insisted that “the Christians run the elections with readiness and conviction”. As well, His Beatitude expressed “hope that the elections show the true will of people and several intellectuals from different religions who want a modern country based on citizenship and not on police or religious ideologies” especially after being marginalized throughout history, and the recent consecutive attacks against the churches of Egypt. Pope Shenouda asked God “to protect Egypt and help it to overcome this hard period, so that the parliamentary elections are held in peace and the police is able to achieve security all over Egypt. May it surmount all its difficulties and problems especially the unemployment and that peace and serenity dominate it.” With these elections, will the Copts enter a new era of history, overcoming all tragedies of the past and will their glorious achievements arise again in a brilliant just future, far from religious extremism and fanaticism?! info@telelumiere.com Results of the Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches The 10th General Assembly convened in Cyprus and elected 4 presidents: - The Armenian Orthodox Catholicos of Cilicia Aram I a president to the Oriental Orthodox Family - The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos a president to the Orthodox family - Bishop Mounib Younan of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, a president to the Evangelical Family - Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch Ignatios III Younan a president to the Catholic Family - Bishop Boulos Matar an honorary president of the council In addition, the members of the executive committee and the new General Secretary Fr. As faithful, the path to the Kingdom of God is one: prayer and practice. That day, she woke up and took the Heaven’s way for the last time at her village Sahel Alma, to meet the Father with her pure soul after fulfilling all her religious duties. Myriam al-Achkar for whom Lebanon wept days ago, and the angels of Heaven rejoiced was the Christ’s bride on the day of the Annunciation. The Heaven’s way was the desired one. The shocking news heard by all Lebanese stirred up anger against the violated security, the laws with no clear charter, the systems and officials who only make condemnations and threats without acting. In front of this calamity, our youth are confused today and search for answers giving them a glimmer of hope to have controlled security, coherent state and people realizing the value and freedom of the human person. The youth killed and slaughtered every day not only with weapons or in car accidents but also with wrong promises and hopes made by the old and believed by the little ones, face death in their weird alienation that they thought it is the solution to their problems. Today, the youth are lost and frustrated. So let’s pray for their salvation and that’s of the world to stop anyone attacking the human person, using power against the weak, and considering the poor as impuissant. Let’s pray so that Myriam al-Achkar’s incident announces the salvation of our society and youth so everyone receives the punishment he deserves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRxVMVV0sqc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qGrnUieuDY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlhUUAjaxiY Highlighted Programs Saturday December 3rd Christians in the Arab World Mass in Kafra What is the situation of the Arab Christians nowadays?
