We partnered with YPAL at the start of this year and look forward to adding their diverse and eager group of individuals to our membership. Both the chamber and YPAL look forward to working together on events and initiatives in the upcoming months in an effort to enhance the businesses and communities of south Dayton. Founded in 2013, YPAL started out with twelve like-minded individuals who wanted to form a group that through networking and meeting, could help other young professionals both grow personally and professionally as well as foster a sense of community within the south Dayton market. Focusing on individuals at the beginning of their careers between the ages of 22 and 40, the group of twelve grew to over 130 members in just over one year. Through various organized volunteer efforts and donation drives, YPAL has raised over $20,000 for nonprofits including Big Brothers Big Sisters and St. Vincent de Paul. The group organizes business after hours events and quarterly luncheons involving guest speakers of various professions that provide inspiration and professional growth advice to the members. Past YPAL President, Kim Schenck of the Hilton Garden Inn at Austin Landing has joined the SMRC board as their group representative and looks forward to being the liaison between the two organizations.
