South Metro Regional Safety Council
Safer Workplace, Healthier Workplace, Save Money
The Safety Council can help you achieve all three!
The South Metro Regional Safety Council is only one of two authorized the Ohio BWC for Montgomery
County. The South Metro Safety Council was established to better serve the business community in southern
Montgomery County. The BWC felt that this area was under served and could provide a value to the
communities, through education, networking and improved workplaces. The requirements are such that it is
easy to earn a 2% to 4% rebate as well as recognition from the BWC for your efforts. Don’t your employees
deserve a safer—healthier work environment? Enrollment is now open and will only be available until the
end of July. Act now, go to the Safety Council web site at www.southmetroregionalsafetycouncil.org for
more information or phone us at 937 433 2032 ext. 100 to discuss how the Safety Council can work for you
and your business.

Chamber welcomes Austin Landing Young Professionals
The SMRC would like to warmly welcome the Young Professionals at Austin Landing as our featured chamber young
professional organization! We partnered with YPAL at the start of this year and look forward to adding their diverse
and eager group of individuals to our membership. Both the chamber and YPAL look forward to working together on
events and initiatives in the upcoming months in an effort to enhance the businesses and communities of south
Dayton. Founded in 2013, YPAL started out with twelve like-minded individuals who wanted to form a group that
through networking and meeting, could help other young professionals both grow personally and professionally as
well as foster a sense of community within the south Dayton market. Focusing on individuals at the beginning of their
careers between the ages of 22 and 40, the group of twelve grew to over 130 members in just over one year. Through
various organized volunteer efforts and donation drives, YPAL has raised over $20,000 for nonprofits including Big
Brothers Big Sisters and St. Vincent de Paul. The group organizes business after hours events and quarterly
luncheons involving guest speakers of various professions that provide inspiration and professional growth advice to
the members. Past YPAL President, Kim Schenck of the Hilton Garden Inn at Austin Landing has joined the SMRC
board as their group representative and looks forward to being the liaison between the two organizations. For more
information about this group or for membership details, please email YPAL President, Jeremy Smith at
jeremy.smith@thompsonhine.com.
