Hamano-machi Shopping Area
Hamano-machi is Nagasaki's shopping district, and is referred to by the locals as "Hamano-machi" or simply "machi." The

Glover Garden
Aiming to be part of the World Heritage, Glover Garden is one of the sites that belong to "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial
Revolution."There are a lot of must-see attractions in Glover Garden. One of these is the Glover Residence, formerly owned
by Thomas Blake Glover, who contributed to Japan's modernization. Other attractions are the nine historical Western-style
buildings dotted around the lush landscape and the wonderful overlooking view of the Nagasaki Port from the hills. (As of

Hashima (Gunkanjima)
Gunkanjima used to be the home of undersea coal mining - the industry that supported the modernization of Japan. Blocks
of high rise apartments standing in the small island are one of the features of Gunkanjima and are a rare find in the world.
The island's name was derived from the exterior of the island that resembles the battleship "Tosa." Aiming to be on the list of
World Heritage Sites in 2015, Gunkanjima welcomes more than 150,000 visitors every year, and there are also a lot of
tourists visiting the island through an organized trip by the cruise ships.(As of May 2015)

Peace Park and Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum
Heiwakinenzo (peace statue) is the symbol of peace in Nagasaki Peace Park. The statue's raised right hand points to the
sky to symbolize the threat of atomic weapons while the horizontally-raised left arm symbolizes the city's wish for peace. The
closed eyes of the statue symbolize prayer for the repose of the atomic bomb victims. In addition, materials displayed in the
Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum show the threat of atomic weapons and the miseries of war, and at the same time strongly
express the value of peace.

Oura Catholic Church
Formally referred to as the Church of the Twenty-six Martyrs of Japan and designated as a national treasure, the Oura
Catholic Church is dedicated to the twenty-six saints who experienced martyrdom in the year 1597.
Built through missionaries from France in 1864, this church is the oldest wooden gothic church in Japan. The church interiors
are also adorned with stained glass dating back to 100 years.

Spectacles Bridge
The bridge was named "Megane Bridge" or "Spectacles Bridge" due to its arches and reflection of the river that forms an
image resembling a pair of glasses. It was built in 1634 by MokusuNyojo, a monk and the temple master of Kofukuji, and it is
Japan's oldest stone arch bridge to date. "Spectacles Bridge" is designated as one of the important cultural properties of
Japan.

By the time the passenger ship arrives at the port, the passengers receive a warm welcome from the locals through brass
band performances and wadaiko (Japanese drum) from students and children and other local performers. In addition,
tourists can also witness a dance unique to Nagasaki - the "Ja-odori" (dragon dance).

Nagasaki Kunchi Festival
Nagasaki Kunchi Festival is a shrine festival of the Suwa Shrine held every autumn. The festival shows its pride of having
more than 370 years of history and tradition. It is said that the festival was referred to as "Kunchi" (9th day) because it was
celebrated every 9th of September in the lunar calendar. However, the celebration is currently held from October 7 to 9 every
year and has been designated as an important intangible cultural property of Japan. During the celebration, the city is
bustling with dancers and shops.
