THE ARK December 2015 The Catholic Community of St. Luke the Evangelist Director’s Corner Happy New Year! Yesterday at Mass we lit our first Advent Candle and this day marks the start of a new liturgical year for us Catholics, therefore Happy New Year! One candle will be lit every Sunday until right before Christmas. Advent is the most beautiful time of the year as we await the birth of Jesus. For our little ones, it is so exciting to teach them about Advent and how special the time before Christmas is. “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths” Also, you will see an ECC Staff Wish Giving tree, please do not forget to pull a tag from there for your favorite teacher and classroom needs, please read more about this info on page number 2. Thank you for your continued support of our awesome staff! - Matthew 3:30 This year I would like to extend an invitation to you and your family to join us for one or all of the very beautiful Advent and Christmas events at St. Luke the Evangelist! You can stop by the ECC office for an information flyer and/or visit the website at www.stlukescatholic.com. Have a very Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year! I look forward to seeing you in 2016! Our goal this year is to sell $1500 worth of books in order for our program to receive 55% in scholastic books, therefore we need your help! Our PK 3 classroom will be performing a fun "Monster" performance at 6:30 pm. Students in Ms. Angelica's classroom are asked to report to their classrooms by 6:15 pm. The ECC students will participate in a book exchange at the winter parties and parents can purchase these books ($5.00 value) at the book fair and support the overall goal! Parents can also purchase and dedicate books to their child's classroom, and books make the best stocking stuffers and/or Christmas presents! Mass at the ECC On Friday, December 11, 2015, at 9;30 am there will be a Mass at the ECC. Our very own Pastor, Rev. Douglas Guthrie will be the celebrant. PK4 students in Mrs. Maria's and Mrs. Anna's classroom will be attending. PK 4 parents wanting to attend this very special mass, can RSVP to their teachers so that seating can be arranged. Students in PK3, Toddlers, Twos and Infants may also attend the mass with their parents. Parents can pick up there students and make their way to the Acts Suite and then return their students to their classroom following the mass. Grandparents, Godparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even neighbors are also invited to attend. ECC tags will give parents a chance to give back to the ECC by choosing from tags that will cover the costs for a classroom sensory table ($65$125 value) a toddler art easel for Mrs. Gina's classroom ($70 value) and lastly cover the cost for a staff member at our ECC Staff Winter Fun Day ($35 value) ECC parents can pull a tag from the tree, bring it to the ECC office, register for the gift. That parent will then receive a Christmas card so that the student and family may dedicate. Pictures of these students will be displayed.
