contestants Akib, Pierre and Hamish made the final round and
Akib was placed second.
Akib’s prize was a trip to Wellington along with a parent,
to represent the Otago/Southland region in the National finals
on March 20. There he was placed sixth overall. The school is
enormously proud of his efforts. Over the last three years Hargest

This is an email received from a teacher at McKenzie
College following the Rail Trail Duathlon held at the end of
February.
“As a secondary school teacher managing a school team at
the Rail Trail Duathlon last weekend, I was highly impressed
by the efforts of your team. Their smart uniform, polite nature,
enthusiasm and committed performance was very admirable.
Please pass on congratulations to the students and the
teacher(s)/parent(s) who managed them.”
The James Hargest College team of Rachael Wilson, Lydia
Smith, Bailey Lovett and Leah Dixon came third in the schools’
