Ukraine Exhibition
For an impressive presence, IKCO decided
to demonstrate its two latest sedans i.e.
Dena and Runna in the exhibition. These
two were accompanied by Soren ELX
sedan powered by the turbocharged
EF7 engine and also Samand LX sedan
supplied by TU5 engine.
Ukraine is a potential car market for
IKCO, the potent attendance of which in
this exhibition would expand and stabilize
the company›s position in this market.
Fifty Iranian companies showcased their
products and services at the exhibition.
Following Russia, Ukraine possesses the
most high-demand car market amongst
CIS countries. There are less than 150 cars
per 1000 people in Ukraine. This figure
indicates a good market potential in this
country.
Samand, one of IKCO›s main cars, has
performed successfully in the cold weather
and on the rough roads of CIS countries
including Ukraine.
Based on the studies and poll taken in
different cities of Ukraine and also Iran’s
exclusive exhibition as well as regarding
the price of products, IKCO cars are able
to compete the same segment cars present
in this market.
Importing cars to Ukraine are to observe
Euro III standards that would be up to
Euro V by the next year.
Visitors Welcome IKCO
IKCO pavilion was the focal point of
visitors to Iran exclusive exhibition in
Kiev. Most of the visitors were wondering
which country IKCO cars belonged to
or which country’s license they were
produced under. They were surprised
when they knew that all the cars are Iranian
and their Intellectual Property belongs to
IKCO. The visitors were mostly satisfied
with the price of IKCO cars.

First deputy chairman of the Rada’s foreign
affairs committee, Taras Chernovol, was
Ukraine’s most high-ranking official who
paid a visit to IKCO stand. During this visit,
he stated that the exchange of knowledge and
technology between the industrial companies
of Iran and Ukraine would bring about a better
bright future in two countries’ bilateral tie.
Referring to export of more than five thousand
IKCO cars to Ukraine, Chernovol pointed out
that Ukraine would be a good market for IKCO
cars and IKCO would be able to stabilize its
position in this country.
More Export to Ukraine
Taking part in Iran’s exclusive exhibition in
Kiev, Middles East’s leading car manufacturer
aims to expand its export to Ukraine.
Referring to Ukraine car market as the second
biggest one in CIS region after Russia, Javad
Najmeddin, IKCO CEO pointed out that the
company intends to increase presence in
Ukraine and introduce new products to this
market.
The company plans to surge Samand exports
to Ukraine to 20,000 per annum. IKCO has
exported totally 5,600 Samands to Ukraine
during 2005- 2009 and ran 21 dealers in this
period.
Resuming the export of Samand products
to Ukraine would demand more sales and
after-sales service representatives in that
country, thereby, IKCO is now focusing on
negotiations with Ukrainian companies to
cover this issue.
IKCO cars are guaranteed for three years or
100 thousand kilometers, whichever comes
first and this issue is the main reason of the
Ukrainians satisfaction with the quality of
IKCO cars and after-sales service in their
country.
IKCO previously offered Samand and Soren
in Ukraine car market and purports to resume
IKCO has exported
cars to more than 30
countries around the
globe. It also runs 188
active dealers in its
target markets
its strong and permanent presence in CIS
region by introducing new products.
IKCO is the leading car manufacturer in
Iran and the Middle East with over half a
century experience in producing different
types of passenger and commercial vehicles.
It produced 760 thousand cars last year and
has targeted the production of 860 thousand
sets in 2011.
Ukrainian Journalists Admired Dena
Ukrainian reporters and journalists, who
visited IKCO’s pavilion, admired the
performance, safety and unique design of
Soren ELX and Dena and they asked IKCO
officials to export more cars to Ukraine.
In their visit to IKCO stand, reporters
of Unian Ukraine Form, Liga Business
Inform and Interfax news agencies as
well as journalists of Den, Segodnia and
Ekonomicheskie Izvestiya newspapers saw
IKCO’s latest achievements and products.
In the meantime, Volv Vovchok, Unian
Ukraine Form reporter referred to the
intense competition in Ukraine auto market
and said that due to the high quality and fair
prices of IKCO cars in this market, these
cars have gained great popularity in this
market.
Volv Vovchok finally admired Iran auto
industry and expressed hope to see more
Iranian cars in Ukraine.

Mass-production
of 1400cc EF4
Engine
Next Year
EF4 engine that will be mass-produced and installed
on Runna next year, is the third member of national
engines family with 95 percent of domestic parts.
Javad Najmeddin, IKCO CEO in this regard said,
«EF4 is a natural breathing engine with most parts in
common with the 1700cc EF7 engine.”
Fuel efficiency is the most important specification of
EF4 and it’s the only Iranian engine that meets Euro
V requirements.
EF4 engine is designed and developed in two
versions of gasoline and CNG-based. The gasoline
version is now under test operation to be installed on
Runna and cars of the same segment.
Two laboratory prototypes of EF4 were manufactured
two years ago and it was the starting point of building

Fuel Efficient Peugeot 405 SLX in the Market
Keeping up with the government’s
policies for producing fuel efficient
cars, IKCO intends to present
Peugeot 405 SLX outfitted with
TU5 engine.
This car is also equipped with new
facilities and safety accessories.
Some of these facilities and
accessories are front fog lamp,
optimized Engine Management
System (EMS) by Valeo, keyless
entry system, new reclining seats,
trunk release button, new style
trim, front and rear clear lens lights
and also spoiler.
In addition to fuel efficiency, TU5
engine optimizes Peugeot 405
SLX power by 10 percent.
TU5 engine is popular for its
smoothness, high acceleration,
fuel efficiency and easy to get
after-sales service.
the EF4 engines which are going to be mounted on
Runna while passing durability tests as well.
Najmeddin believes that using an Iranian made engine
on Runna would be a great success in development of
the national brand.
The CEO later referred to the capabilities of IKCO
engine shop and part makers and added, “All the
required casting and machining of EF4 parts have been
accomplished by Iranian industrialists and about 95
percent of the parts are domestically developed.”
Based on the schedules, IKCO aims to produce 25
thousand Runnas with EF4 engines the next year. This
amount would be raised to 100 thousand units per
annum within three years.

IKCO Sets New Daily Production Record
Producing 3100 cars a day, IKCO registered
a new production record in its history.
“In order to meet customers’ demands,
IKCO aims to increase its daily production
to 3200 thousand sets by this Iranian
yearend i.e. March 20, 2012,” said Javad
Najmeddin, the company CEO.
Currently IKCO produces an average of
3100 cars per day and it has made the stage
ready to chalk it up to 3200 units in near
future. Considering the fuel efficiency and
popularity of Peugeot 206 among Iranians,
the company is going to increase the number
of production of this car from 720 units a
day to 1000 units by March.
Najmeddin finally restated that IKCO target
plan is to manufacture 850 thousand units
of passenger cars by the end of this Iranian
year, 423308 units of which were produced
by October 22.

Nov 2011
In order to develop the country’s fuel portfolio and
taking advantage of diesel passenger cars, national
diesel engine will be mass-produced by 2013.
Mohammad Zali, IPCO (Iran Khodro Powertrain
Company) CEO in this regard said, “Based on the
schedules, 50,000 sets of diesel Samand are going to
be produced and marketed by 2013.”
IKCO-made diesel engine meets euro V standard
requirements. This 1500cc engine produces 90 KW
of power. Its torque is 256 Nm and it sips only 5.2
liters of fuel per 100 Km.
Due to the importance of providing proper fuel, Euro
IV and V standard-approved fuel will be accordingly
provided by Iran’s ministry of petroleum next year
while the Ministry has participated in the design and
development process of this engine.
So far, 23 sets of this diesel engine have been produced,
three of which have been mounted on IKCO cars to
pass required tests. Samand, Soren, and Runna are the
candidates to receive IKCO diesel engine. Apart from
the combustion chamber, which IKCO went through
its production process in collaboration with a foreign
partner all the other parts have been designed and
developed by Iranian part and component makers.
The experience gained in design and development of
EF7, was the pilot for design and development of this
diesel engine. Technical knowledge acquired in EF7
project paved the way for Iranian part makers to easily
overcome the problems and since the two engines
share many parts, the diesel engine would be mass
produced sooner than expected.
Hybrid car, gearbox and direct injection are the other
three projects IPCO is working on. The related studies
considering these projects have already started and
the company will soon embark on the design and
development of hybrid powertrain.
The intellectual property of EF7 engine belongs to
IKCO. It comes in CNG based, gasoline, turbocharged
and diesel types, while the first two have already been
mass produced.
Mass Production in Iran Khodro Fars
Fulfilling the commercialization process of
production, Iran Khodro Fars, IKCO’s fifth local
production site will start mass production of cars
in December.
“The site will produce one car an hour that
is supposed to get to five cars an hour,” said
Mohammad Javad Habibi, Iran Khodro Fars CEO
during the visit of journalists to this site that is
located in the southern Iran.
Production capacity of Iran Khodro Fars exceeds
30 thousand cars per year. Peugeot
Pars will be the first car to be produced in this
company, which holds the capacity to produce all
types of Peugeot 405 and Samand sedans.
Iran Khodro Fars can largely meet demands of the
automotive market in the southern cities of Iran
and can significantly drive down vehicle transport
costs from the mother company in Tehran.
In the first phase, Iran Khodro Fars created 200
direct job opportunities and will facilitate the
creation of part and component makers in different
cities of Fars province. Supporting private sector
investors on auto part and component production
is also on the company’s agenda, while one of the
main goals of Iran Khodro Fars is to export cars to
Persian Gulf region countries.
This subsidiary of Iran Khodro Fars aims to
produce 15 to 20 thousand cars in 2012 and so far
50 Peugeot Pars sedans have been manufactured in
this company, the total investment for which rose to
almost 60,000,000 dollars.
In line with the decentralization policy of the
government (pushing the industries out of the
capital), IKCO has already started to establish
production sites throughout the country.
IKKCO (Iran Khodro Khorassan) was IKCO’s first
out of the capital production site, established in
Khorassan province (North East of Iran) in 2004.
IKKCO production capacity is 150,000 cars a year.
Following that IKCO established Iran Khodro
Tabriz in 2007 and Iran Khodro Mazandaran in
2010. The production capacities of these two sites
mount to 100 and 15 thousand cars per annum
respectively.

Nov 2011
Developing eight countries (D8)
appointed IKCO to design the
platform for their joint car.
In a three-day summit of industry
ministers of the D8 held in Istanbul,
Turkey on October 4-6 2011, IKCO
was appointed to design D8 joint car
with the cooperation of Turkey and
Indonesia.
During the summit, Turkey was
designated to establish D8 Society
of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers
within eight months.
Uniforming technical regulations
and standards of D8 countries in
automobile and part manufacturing
with those of United Nation
Economic Commission for Europe
(UNECE) as well as applying for
membership in this association
was another agreement of the
summit. Egypt was the member that
undertook this responsibility.
The members of this working
group also reached an agreement on
promoting research and development
activities in new fields as CNG
technology, hybrid technology, plug-
in cars, new materials and nanotechnology.
Improving the quality, the level of
technology and also the capacity
of supply chain was another issue
settled by D8 vehicle working group.
Representatives of Turkish part
manufacturers, Egypt National
institute of standards, Indonesian Car
Manufacturing Association and its
main holding of part manufacturers
took part in this two-day vehicle
working group meeting in which
Malaysia acted as the supervisor.
Focus on the Region’s Car
Increasing sales in neighboring
countries, entering new markets in
Eastern Europe, acquiring a new
approach to export portfolio, and
planning on product diversification
based on the production capabilities
are among IKCO strategies to stick
to its competitive advantages in
automotive markets.
On the sideline of his visit to the
exhibition, Mir Javad Soleimani,
IKCO deputy CEO in quality and
development of products referred
to the markets of Eastern European
Countries as emerging markets that
are suitable for Iranian carmakers
activities. He then pointed to IKCO
plans for selling its new cars such as
Runna and Dena in Ukraine market
and added, “During the past two
years, IKCO export programs have
been reviewed and they resulted in
putting more focus on the region and
neighboring countries’ markets as
well as development of the national
brand market share.”
“For instance, I can refer to Iraq
that due to various reasons like
accessibility, market needs and
similarities of the neighboring
cultures has turned into a strategic
market for IKCO cars,” he added.
Soleimani finally underscored that
IKCO has upgraded car emission
standards to Euro IV in order to be
compatible with those of its target
markets like Russia and Turkey.
During the past two years, IKCO
accelerated the activities of its
production site in Belarus. A part of
Russia and Ukraine market demand
would be met by this site that is
a joint venture with a Belarusian
company established in 2006. Fifteen
thousand sets of IKCO branded cars
are to be produced and exported by
this site per annum.
IKCO has exported cars to more
than 30 countries around the globe.
It also runs 188 active dealers in its
target markets.
9% of Products Will be
Exported This Year
IKCO aims to export 75 thousand cars by year end i.e.
March 20, 2012. This amount equals nine percent of the
company’s total production and shows two percent Y-o-Y
rise in global sales.
Javad Najmeddin IKCO CEO in this regard said, “IKCO
branded cars sold globally mount to 36,000 sets.”
During the past two years, IKCO export programs have
Markets
been reviewed seriously and the result was putting
more focus on the region and neighboring countries’
markets as well as development of the national brand
market share.
Entering new markets in Western Europe, acquiring
a new approach to export portfolio, and planning
on product diversification based on the production
capabilities are among IKCO strategies to stick to its
competitive advantages in automotive market.
IKCO has exported cars to more than 30 countries,
mostly those in CIS, MENA, Europe and America
since 2003. Last year the company exported 40
thousand cars and intends to drive its global sales to
75 thousand this year.

ISACO (IKCO Spare Parts & After-sales Service Co.)
has experienced a 25% sales increase in the seven month
since the beginning of this Iranian year i.e. March 21.
Freidoon Aghabeigi, ISACO deputy CEO in trading, in
this regard said, “In the past seven months, the company’s
proper policy in supplying spare parts for IKCO cars
has led to an increase in supplying parts for all brands
by IKCO distributors; the highest growth belongs to
Peugeot parts.”
Despite the current severe economic sanctions, ISACO
has no restriction to supply spare parts for IKCO cars.
The main goal of ISACO is to provide a condition for
IKCO customers, so that they could confidently refer to
IKCO dealers and service stations to get standard and
original parts and components.
IKD to
Produce
First
Accordion
Bus
In an attempt to supply the demands of
urban transport network, Iran Khodoro
Diesel is to produce Iran’s first home
made accordion bus.
Hashem Yekkeh Zare, IKD CEO in this
regard said, “This hi-tech bus meets the
latest global standards and will hit the
market by the end of this Iranian calendar
year.”
Yekkeh Zare pointed out that the company
production lines are fully prepared for
this purpose and it will reduce Iran’s
dependence on importing accordion
buses.
“Quality and passengers’ comfort and
satisfaction are the two major issues
IKD put special focus on,” the CEO said
and added, “our experts will carefully
consider all measures required to comply
with Iranian travelers’ needs and this
would be the main specification of this
bus compared to imported ones.”
Yekkeh Zare finally restated that the
special design of this bus enables it to
travel all around the city besides BRT
lines. An important point about this bus
is that it will be outfitted with European
powertrain that will grant it a higher
quality in comparison with the existing
BRT buses in Iran public transport system.
IKD atop Iran’s
Commercial Vehicle
Manufacturers
With a 17% percent increase in production volume,
Iran Khodro Diesel Co. stood atop other Iranian
commercial vehicle producers.
Overall performance betterment caused IKD to
achieve the highest production rate in the past five
years. Setting a new record in the production of Wagon
Hood trucks in the first half of the current Iranian year
(March 21 to September 21), in comparison to the past
ten years, was a part of this production increase, while
this year’s production volume in the 1H has passed
last year’s total production.
It is noteworthy that along with boosting the number
of products, the quality has been improved too,
according to a report by Iran Standard and Quality
Inspection Institute.
Previously, Hashem Yekkeh Zareh, IKD CEO had
announced the company’s comprehensive plan to
manufacture and market a wide variety of commercial
and heavy vehicles.
