Math Pentathlon Teams Compete
The award winning math pentathlon team was successful
again this year. Our tournament season is now over for this
school year and we couldn't be more proud to represent Reagan
Elementary! Over 140 students participated this year in the program.
We'd like to thank all of our volunteer coaches for their
time and effort, the PTA for their continued support, and the
teachers who so graciously let the teams meet in their classrooms after school; we couldn't do this without you.
See you next year. Math On, Rays!

Teacher Appreciation Week: May 4-8
Monday, May 4 - Garden of Gratitude - Please bring your teacher a flower this day.
It could be from your yard, or from the store, in the end there will be a unique bouquet from the students.
Tuesday, May 5 - Tuesday Treats - Look out for information from your Room Rep
about a special treat for your teacher!
Wednesday, May 6 - Workroom Wednesday (NEW THIS YEAR) - Supplies become a hot commodity towards the end of the year as inventories dwindle. Your teacher could surely use more classroom supplies.
For example: sticky notes, paper clips, dry erase markers, pencils, tissues, anti-bacterial wipes, etc.)
Thursday, May 7 - Thoughtful Thursday - Look out for information from your Room Rep about a personalized thank you.
Friday, May 8 - Bounty of Books - Please consider donating a book to the classroom library. Choose one
yourself, or choose one from your teacher’s Book Fair wish list. The book fair will be happening the same
week as teacher appreciation, so stop by the library and select a book.
If you have any questions, please contact your Room Rep.
Baker’s Dozen May Recipe:
Lemon Tiramisu Trifle
Creamy, lemony layers are brightened by berries in this no-bake cross between tiramisu
and trifle. Kids can assemble this treat with
very little help. Perfect for Mother’s Day!
Ingredients
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup granulated sugar
12 -ounces cream cheese, softened
One 8-ounce jar prepared lemon curd
2 cups heavy cream
22 hard ladyfinger cookies
3 cups mixed raspberries and sliced
strawberries
Powdered sugar, for garnish
Whipped cream, for serving
Directions
In a small measuring cup, mix the lemon juice with the sugar and 1/4 cup
water until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
Place the cream cheese, lemon curd and heavy cream in a food processor and process until smooth and a bit fluffy.
To assemble the tiramisu, place half the ladyfingers in the bottom of an 8inch square baking dish, breaking a few to fit, and drizzle with half of the
lemon syrup. Top with half the lemon cream and 1 cup mixed berries.
Repeat the layers, using the remaining ladyfingers, syrup and lemon
cream.
Cover with plastic wrap and chill at least 8 hours or overnight. Before
serving, top with the remaining 2 cups of berries and dust with powdered
sugar. Serve with whipped cream on the side.

Scholastic Book Fair May 4-8
Reagan Rays, come jump into Reagan’s Spring
“Under The Sea Book Fair” and explore An Ocean of
Books, May 4th – May 8th .
Show your teacher appreciation by purchasing a
book from their wish list to add to their classroom libraries – we make it easy; just ask one of the
volunteers how.
Come by and guess how many fish are in the fish
bowl for a chance to win a book.
But if you can’t make it to our ocean, you can still
support our library by ordering online at http://
bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/reaganrays2015.
All online orders will be delivered to the school the
week after the fair.
It takes all the fish in the sea to make our event
successful - to volunteer go to reagan.my-pta.org
Why should you purchase from the Book Fair?
A large portion of each purchase goes towards buying new books for the Reagan library. Typically, Mrs.
Brymer is able to order thousands of dollars worth of
new books each year because of the Scholastic
Book Fairs!
For questions, email Jana Mills
at sjrmills@austin.rr.com.
Join Cub Scouts!
Come see what the Cub Scout Adventure is all about! Meet us May 5th
at 6:30pm in the Reagan Cafeteria or
May 9th 2pm-4pm for a free Scout Fun
Fest (by the Reagan PE fields).
Parents of young boys face a lot of choices in afterschool activities. Boys want to have fun, while parents
want them to learn positive values and skills that will last
a lifetime. If your boy is about to enter first through fifth
grade, Cub Scouting may be exactly what you are both
looking for.
As a parent, you can be assured that Cub Scouting
• involves a variety of family activities
• teaches lifelong values
• encourages good behavior
• strengthens the bonds of family

The Clothes Closet
Please come help us for two final Clothes Closet Workdays
on 5/7 and 5/21 from 10 am-1 pm. We are trying to sort a
lot of donations and get organized and prepared for the
next school year.
We are also in desperate need of kids' jeans/shorts
hangers. If you have any to donate, please put them in the
Clothes Closet Bin.
To receive clothes from the Clothes Closet program,
a parent would need to obtain a voucher from your child’s
school nurse. Please stop by the clinic to request and receive your voucher. Submit the verification/colored copy of
the clothes closet voucher to the Clothes Closet. The nurse
will keep the original copy.

Principal Crawford Welcomes New Baby
Reagan’s Principal, Steve
Crawford, is a daddy again! On
March 31, his wife, Lynsey,
gave birth to their second child:
Lily Grace. Fortunately, Lily
arrived a week early, because
she weighed 9lb. 15oz.!
The household is adjusting
well to the new addition. Big
sister, Olivia Mae, is 3 and she
dotes on the baby by reading to
her and helping out.
The family dog is interested,
and has been doing a lot of
sniffing.
Mr. Crawford has been giving
Lynsey breaks on the weekends. If you notice him acting
crazier than usual, it could be
the sleep deprivation.

Destination Imagination
Teams Advance to State
Two of Reagan’s Destination Imagination Teams
competed in the Austin Regionals on March 7th. They
had been working since the fall on their tasks.
In the Austin Regionals, the “Gryffindors” took first
place in the category of “Improv Games”. Their coaches were Melissa Wotkyns and Marissa Brooks.
The “Time Walkers” took second place in the
Austin Regionals in their category of “Creature Feature”. Their coaches were Eileen Delisi and Lisa
Mauldin.
The teams advanced to the Texas State competition in
Dallas on April 11th. While they didn’t place there, the teams
made memories to last a lifetime.
Box Tops Wrap Up
As another Box Tops year winds down, I would like to
say Thank You to everyone who contributed to making the Box
Tops Program a success. So far this year, we received a total
of $2,922.74 and Mr. Crawford rode a Tricycle around the
school for a day, which was so much fun for the kids! These
funds help to support our Teachers and the supplies that are
needed for their classrooms. Currently, the PTA reimburses
Teachers up to $25 for classroom supplies and we couldn't do
it without your support!
We will not be having another Box Tops contest this
school year, however, if you have any Box Tops that you
would like to turn in before the end of the year, please send
them in a ziploc baggie with your child by May 29th. Some of
the Box Tops have summer expiration dates and in order to
get credit, I will need to send them in by June 1.
If you have any questions, please send an email to
reaganptarewards@gmail.com.
Thank you again for all your participation this year!
Let’s make the 2015-2016 school year an even Bigger Box
Tops year! Have a great Summer, Rays!
Melissa Moritz
Box Tops Coordinator
PS. You can also send in any Labels for
Education and Tyson Labels you may
have as well.
Ladybug Release
The garden committee
would like to invite you to come
by the garden after school on
Thursday, May 28th to help release containers of ladybugs
into the garden. Kids can also
help beautify the garden by painting rocks .
Summer Garden Adoption Program
The garden will still be growing during summer
vacation and we’d like to invite families to adopt the
garden for one week.
During this week, your
family would come to
the garden every other
day to water (unless it
rains, of course). As a
bonus, you could harvest and take home any
vegetables that are ripe!
A garden volunteer will coordinate to
meet with you the first
day to show you how
the ropes. Sign up here.
