or their affinity for all things modern,
but today’s contemporary Filipino can’t
seem to get over his fascination for anything

choice of living atmosphere.
This is why Avida Settings Alviera could
be the best thing that could have happened to
Central Luzon dwellers.
Composed of open fields, verdant terrain,

ho doesn’t want to live in Avida
Towers Astrea?
Given that Avida’s first
development in Fairview, Quezon City brings
the best of both urban and natural living
in one convenient setting, it’s a no-brainer
for people looking to connect with their
community and with themselves.
Avida Towers Astrea is a mid-rise
condominium development that guarantees
secured and organized community living
close to the comforts of nature. Strategically
situated along Quirino Highway, Avida
Towers Astrea is highly accessible, and its
proximity to churches, schools, parks, and
malls make it a convenient home address.
Simply put, Avida Towers Astrea puts
forward natural living within the metro.
The open sprawling central garden called
“green pointe” has large, shady canopy
trees that offer a respite to the Astrea
homeowner. Large play lawns and the
contemporary-designed clubhouse are
areas for community convergence. These
verdant areas, plus interconnected private
gardens in each podium, are testaments to
the masterful planning of Astrea.
Avida Towers Astrea’s recently launched
Tower 1 has 12 residential floors comprising
296 units. Whether you’re a big family, a
young single professional or a couple just
starting on your own, units excitingly come
in varied sizes ranging from 22 to 62 sqm
and special cuts: Studio, one-bedroom, and
two-bedroom.
The residential and retail units are
organized, too. There are fewer but
thoughtfully-planned units per floor,
allowing residents to enjoy more privacy
and avoid hallway traffic. Each room is
designed to allow air to flow naturally, giving
its residents daily occasions to experience
relaxed and comfortable living. In addition,
Avida Towers Astrea ensures that security
and safety of its residents are guaranteed.
Emergency power even inside the units is
likewise provided.
Needless to say, experiencing the relaxing
nature in a modern city is achievable when
you choose a home at Avida Towers Astrea. 05

n communities south of the metro, NUVALI is
leading the pack for a good reason. There’s plenty
to love about the nature-focused area that is
continuously growing its population: green spaces,
an emphasis on a healthy lifestyle, amenities for
the family, and accessibility to the capital. It makes
sense then that Avida’s NUVALI property, Hillcrest
Estates is situated right in this southern hub.
Hillcrest Estates is located in the southside
of NUVALI, which is easily accessible through
various exits and a private road via Mamplasan
Exit. NUVALI even offers shuttle services to
Makati and Bonifacio Global City. Set against lush
rolling terrains and magnificent views, Hillcrest
Estates NUVALI gives new meaning to living life
to the fullest without sacrificing modern-day
conveniences. Go have an early-morning jog at the
Hillcrest Drive or lay back on the manicured grass
under the trees of Greenpark, a pedestrian-friendly
space built with amenities. These little things
impact residents’ health and wellbeing directly,
which makes Hillcrest Estates an optimal choice
for families. Add the fact that NUVALI provides
easy access to schools, commercial and retail
establishments, hospitals, offices, and recreational
areas, and you’ve got all the more reason to set up

alking into Monch Ferrer’s space feels like stepping
into a different world. Dark hues and rich details
set the mood for Monch’s masculine space. His
21-sq.m unit is peppered with fascinating and
vibrant finds that detail his interests: a collection of
cars stacked strategically on a black wall, abstract
paintings hung neatly on another, a Chuckie toy,
and a quote gleaming quietly to remind him to cherish
every moment. An operations manager for My Singapore
Food Street and running a personal party needs business
(magicians, face painting, clowns, anyone?), Ferrer’s
Avida home abides by his personality and tastes using
colors to speak to him, a mirror to open up the small space,
and focusing on the kitchen where he cooks up enticing
meals for himself and family and friends. The effect? A
comfortable shelter that invites one to truly relax and escape
with good company and great food.
Resident: Ramon “Monch” Ferrer
Location: Avida Towers New Manila
Size: 21 square meters
Years lived in: Two years
His style: I just want it to be
cozy, clean, and minimalist.
The design I wanted was just
simple; design that will last
long. It’s a stress-free home.
Design inspiration: Condotels that
use red, black, and white since
it’s so relaxing and cool to
the eyes. Like my unit now, it
speaks about myself; that is, a
simple and cool person.
Favorite pieces: My collection of
Maisto cars. I started collecting
these when I worked at the
Sultanate of Oman.
Favorite spot: The kitchen since
I am in the food industry and I
love to cook.
Condo challenges to overcome: I asked

my favorite colors. Since I have
limited space, I maximized it
by choosing the right size of
the sofa bed and furnishings
that suit my taste. At the end
of the day when I go home and
see my unit, I feel that all the
investments and hard work was
all worth it.
Family and friends’ thoughts: First
reaction was ‘Wow! Nice
and cool, I like it.’ They are all
wondering how a small space
could look big, bright, and cozy.
This unit was used already in
several photo shoots.
Next home project: Repainting and
new upholstery of the sofa bed
Advice to newbies: Choose the right

or a young couple like August and Eira Alagan (both are 26 years old),
their home is like a platform for growth. It’s also an opportunity for the
two to let their personalities shine. August works as an I.T. specialist
for a company in Alabang while Eira, a former preschool teacher, does
freelance graphic design and substitute teaching on the side. “On
weekdays, we’re up by 5am. I prepare breakfast and his baon while he
gets ready for work. There’s not much to do yet since it’s just the two
of us, for now,” says Eira. “If I get home early enough, we go out to eat in one
of the restaurants in Solenad,” adds August. While their works take up much
of their time, the Alagan home is a bit more comfortable than their day jobs.
The space is balanced with clean lines and pops of color. One of the walls is
brushed in deep navy that serves as the backdrop for the clipboards pinned
with interesting details like travel mementos, illustrations, and photos from
memorable trips. Together, August and Eira have transformed (and are still
in the process of!) their first home into an inspiring home. The cute couple
are proof that a dream and good design don’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
Name: August & Eira Alagan
Location: Ridgeview Estates NUVALI

The Style Cozy and travel-inspired. Since
this is our first home together, we didn’t
want to overwhelm ourselves with the
job of decorating a house. We just made
sure that we’ll always feel relaxed when
we’re at home.
Design Inspiration Definitely traveling. We
tried to incorporate ideas we got from
the different places we’ve stayed in
abroad. We set up our accent wall so we
can display the photos and tokens we’ve
acquired from our travels, and placed a
few trinkets around for more character.
Favorite Pieces We love the clipboards on
our accent wall. It’s easy to switch up
and add onto the displays. We can even
clip on our bills there, so we don’t forget
them. It’s very practical.

Favorite Spot In the living room. I like to
watch movies and TV or just listen to
some music while reading a book.

I spend most of my time in the kitchen. I

Food Network. -Eira
Home Challenges While the house was being
built, we made sure that we would have
more than enough storage space. We
were hands-on with the layout of the
built-in cabinets and the division of
space. We also did our own research
online and through interior design
books to get more ideas on how to
decorate our home.
Family and Friends’ Thoughts They seem to like
it! Especially the kitchen and the travelthemed accent wall.

Next Home Project Our extra room
is in need of an overhaul. Right
now, it’s just a space to keep
office supplies. We already
have a plan. We just need to
free up a weekend to work on it.
Advice to Newbies Investing in a
home gives you more freedom
to customize your space
according to your needs.
If you can, have a place for
everything. While making the
layout of our kitchen, we made
sure our small appliances
would have their own space
inside the cabinets to keep
them off the counter top. When
moving in, or designing, focus
on one space/room at a time.
Home Sourcing The bigger pieces
come from stores like Our
Home and Dimensione. Several
items are from SM Department
Store. We go to Ikea when we’re
abroad.
Why Avida Aside from it being
built by Ayala Land, we chose
an Avida home because the
house layout and design
let us maximize the spaces
without compromising the
overall look.
Best Thing about the Community We
love the community and the
amenities it offers. Here in
our village, they promote
having a healthy lifestyle and
being closer to nature. We
have a jogging path along the
greenway that runs across the
whole village. There are also
pocket parks and open spaces.

Karen Miran talks about bridging the distance between her husband
and family and finding comfort in their cozy little home
by steven gonzales • photos by jar concengco
T
here’s now a whole generation of
women who divide their time between
their family and career. Not in the case
of Karen Miran, 28, a doting mother
to bubbly Brianna, 8, and Liam, who’s
turning five this May. Formerly working
at a call center, Karen is fully focused on
attending to her children, especially since her
husband Eugene toils overseas to provide for
his growing family. It was a hard decision at the
beginning for this beautiful family but with the
advent of free communication technology and
12
AV I DA LI V I N G
apps, overcoming the huge gulf of distance and
timezone became much easier.
“Okay na siya ngayon since there’s the Internet
and we communicate via Skype and Viber but
dati it was a challenge because medyo mahal
[to communicate]. Dati we text lang and medyo
bihira. Lalo na rin when I was working. When he’s
awake, I’m busy with work dahil graveyard shift,”
she admits.
That said, Karen’s move to stay at home, care
for the kids, and hold the family together while
Eugene is flitting between Qatar and South Korea
is an admirable one. That has been how it’s like
for the family for a number of years. “He left after
Brianna turned one so that was 2008. ‘Yung mga
contracts niya [before] every year hanggang sa
nakalipat siya ng company, every six months na
lang [the duration]. He stays here for a month
every six months.”
In those times that Eugene is in the Philippines,
they make it a point to travel out of town whether
as a family or a couple. Last time, Karen and Eugene
reveled in the beauty of Coron, Palawan while
they took another trip with the kids to Baguio.
But when they’re not traveling, the Mirans happily
relish bonding time as well as reconnect with each
other and family and friends at their cozy 39 sq. m
condominium unit—all thanks to Karen’s mother.
“My mom bought her unit first [here in Avida
Towers San Lazaro] and she was the one who
encouraged us to get our own,” Karen shares.
Despite only having lived in their own unit for a
year, they have been in the community for some
time now and that played a factor in their decision
to purchase their own home. It wasn’t smooth
sailing though for the Mirans.
“Wala akong second thoughts to purchase a
home here, ‘yung husband ko ang medyo hesitant,”
Karen says. “I was ready to jump in but he was
still a bit [uncertain]… because of the payments.”
They knew all too well the risk due to the nature
of Eugene’s job. “Before sa company niya, there
were times na pag uuwi siya he’ll end his contract
by choice because he wants to look for another
company for higher pay. So, mababakante siya ng
two or three months and that’s his worry.” But then
Karen reassuringly states, “Ngayon okay naman.”
Actually, it’s more than okay. Karen and her
family’s home—or “sinehan” as her sister and
brother-in-law coined it—sticks to brown hues
and textures with comfort at the top of their
minds. Spacious enough for every member
of the family as well as friends, Karen’s large
earth-toned couch, inherited from her mother’s
unit, serves as the centerpiece of the living area
and the backdrop for interesting details such as
vibrant and petal-stitched throw pillows, potted
plants, scented candles, and stacks of books.
“I just wanted it to be comfortable. Nandyan
lahat ng kailangan ko. But right now, I need to
work on some things!” she says, laughing. In the
bedroom, which is accented by another window,
sits her favorite piece in the entire household:
her wildflower-print bedsheets. “I bought it at
the time na paalis ‘yung asawa ko, ’yung time
na medyo malungkot so I need something na
pampasaya. Malungkot kasi pag aalis na siya.”
Immersing herself in the bedsheets proves a
point that there is always a silver lining to being
part of this kind of family. The home they built for
their family, which they chose primarily for the
convenience it offers, nurtures a love that keeps
them together. That wherever Eugene may be,
Karen, Brianna, and Liam are all ready to welcome
him back in the place they call home.
“I just wanted it
to be comfortable.
Nandyan lahat
ng kailangan ko."

Makeover Tips
For Your Bedroom
Foolproof tips to turn your bedroom into
the coziest space at home by barry viloria
T
he bedroom is that one place at home where you are at your most
comfortable—free from all the stress and worries that mostly haunt your
professional life. Often, though, we take it for granted and leave it cramped
and cluttered. Interior designer, set stylist, and furnishing expert Nini Falcon
comes up with these easy, back-to-basic tricks to make the most out of your
room of recluse.
Remember three things when
doing a bedroom makeover: color,
texture, and pattern. It can be “tricky,”
says Falcon, as “some overdo it.” The
solution: just pick one under each. To
give off a sense of cool and cozy for your
bed, Falcon suggests blues and greens
(color), satin and tweed (textures), and
floral or simple prints (patterns).
✱
If you want to go trendy when
it comes to your bed, Falcon
recommends patterns like Hampton
links, Alston stripes, or broad stripes,
all of which are designs that are not too
busy to the eyes.
✱
✱
For your entertainment, get a
cushioned armchair where you can
watch TV or read a book. Falcon says
a Lazy Boy can be a good investment
albeit bulky. “An armchair is different
from a bed, as they offer a resting area
for your arms and elbows,” says Falcon.
A big pillow can be an alternative to
an armchair if you want to just lay
around and relax. “But, obviously, not
too many of it, as they take too much
space,” warns Falcon.
✱
If you have a couch or chair in the
room, you may adorn it with a
throw blanket. It’s an oversized scarf
that captures dust and dirt (from
fingers and other natural forces). “At
the same time, it adds color and texture
to your furniture,” says Falcon.
✱
Transform your work area into a more
organized space without foregoing
your working discipline. “Some of us like
to work with only a few things on the
table. Some of us have to have stuff on the
table as part of our job,” says Falcon. “Just
make sure if you have things on the table,
they should be of immediate use. Add a
bulletin board to help keep your schedule.”
✱
14
AV I DA LI V I N G
For a more ergonomic work area,
however, you might want to familiarize
yourself with the basics. “You don’t want to
squeeze your work life into your personal
life, but, if you have to, make sure your
work area doesn’t bring in the stress to
your supposed rest area,” says Falcon.
“Know the rules: The ideal height of the
table from the floor is 75 centimeters, while
that of the chair to the floor is 40 to 50.”
She adds that you should be on eye level
with your computer when you’re using
it. Better pick an adjustable chair for this.
These all minimize stress and strain.
✱
For a cooler feel, choose equally cool
colors such as blue, green, and white. You
might want to add plants for a greener touch,
says Falcon. “Get some succulent plants and
hanging plants, which come in small pots.”
Another option would be a mini terrarium,
which is a transparent globe or container of
any shape in which plants are grown.
✱
Make the natural lighting work to your
advantage, advises Falcon, so it’s best to
study it first. A room that faces the sunset,
for example, receives the hottest amount
of sunlight during the day. Likewise, if you
choose to have too much natural light in
your room, it might turn the room too hot
and, thus, exhaust the air-conditioning. It’s
best to have blackout drapes, adds Falcon,
or wooden blinds, shutters, or Roman blinds,
all of which are offered in neutral colors for a
more tranquil feel.
✱
A makeover can also mean a change in your lifestyle, says Falcon. She suggests that, to make your
personal space more comfy and convenient, you should also be disciplined enough to check on both
your furniture and well-being from time to time. “Make sure you’re really there to rest, so discount things
that stress you out. For example, buy a chair and a lamp if you like to read and it relaxes you. At the same
time, don’t charge your phone near your bed, as it adds distraction when you’re supposed to be relaxing.”

It’s safe to say that the
bathroom is probably the
first room you go into when
you wake up in the morning, so
make sure it’s a space that perks
you up and brightens your mood for the day. If
you’re lucky enough to have windows in your
bathroom, don’t cover them with thick or dark
colored curtains—instead, opt for sheer, very
light shades or, better yet, use a frosted glass
sticker to let ample light into the room. This
is especially important if you do your makeup
in the bathroom, as natural light is best for
getting the most natural look. If your bathroom
doesn’t have windows, make sure to keep it
sufficiently lit with an even overhead light.
TOWELS
The quality of
your towel can
make or break
the look of your
bathroom (and your mood for that matter). Move
on from cheap towels that shred with every use
and splurge on some truly quality plush towels
that won’t go threadbare in just a few washes.
These will last you a while, so you’ll want to
choose colors that will last, too. Classic clean
white or off-white shades in cream or eggshell are
always sophisticated or if you need more edge,
grays and navy blues are safe picks as well.

BATH
MATS
Bath mats are a necessity, so
have fun with yours by layering
two or three on top of each other.
Play around with patterns and
colors, mixing solids with prints,
even the shapes, sizes, and
textures of your mats. Just make
sure to limit yourself to a certain
amount of space, lest your entire
bathroom floor be covered in
bath mats.
CLEANING
SUPPLIES
Plungers and toilet brushes may
be the ugliest things in your
bathroom, but they needn’t be.
If you look in the right places,
you can find “designer” looking
bathroom cleaning tools that blend
in with your bathroom, instead of drawing
unwanted attention. Choose tools that are
of similar colors to your tiles and counter.
TOILETRIES
Because your toiletries are most likely of
different brands, it can make a bathroom
look messy and unorganized. One easy
fix is to compartmentalize them in
matching organizers. Any container
store will have these, or you can even
get creative by repurposing bowls,
glasses, and mugs. Another solution is
to repackage your toiletries in generic,
streamlined bottles and jars.

THE
MILLENNIAL
MOVEMENT
A new generation of homeowners—with discerning tastes
and great expectations—is coming. And Avida Land is
ready for them. by corinne ramos
I
f there was ever a universal
bucket list, homeownership
will—without a doubt—be on
top of everyone’s list. The
independence, privacy, and
sheer satisfaction of having your
own space is truly invaluable.
The thought of purchasing a home is
typically welcomed once the euphoria
of adult freedom fades away and the
pressure of stability kicks in. These
days, however, many are starting to
realize the value of a nice home at a
much younger age, with millennials
leading the pack.
But more than a space they can call
their own, millennials are realizing
that a nice home transcends its basic
purpose of providing shelter. Today,
homeownership isn’t the end goal
anymore but a stop along the way, a
springboard towards achieving their
dreams for the future—the command
center of all their goals and ambitions.
On its 25th stellar year, Avida Land is
joining the millennials’ dream. Besides
delivering sure, secure, and sensible
developments that uphold the basics of
a quality home, Avida Land is gearing
up for a real estate landscape that
provides all the lifestyle essentials for an
enriching life.
DESIGNED FOR
OPPORTUNITIES,
POSSIBILITIES
At work, you will be in a constant
state of inertia if you are in an
environment that doesn’t nurture
your goals. The same is true at home.
Quality and innovative designs foster
an environment which encourages
possibilities for one to take charge of
their dreams.
With air freely flowing and sunlight
pouring in your home, every moment
spent at your Avida home is a gentle
tap—an encouraging nudge—to remind
you that you can let your true self shine
without worries. These moments help
you be at peace in your surroundings
and devote your energy toward
activities which get you closer to your
life goals.
Endless possibilities are also created
within the signature Avida environment
teeming with comfort, space, and fewer
crowds. When you are secluded from
the mayhem of the city and enveloped
in a peaceful community, room for
personal growth and meaningful
interactions is abundant. For artists
honing their passion, home can be
their creative refuge, the place where
their ideas bloom and thrive. Young
couples who have just moved in can
share the process of building their
future together in their first home.
Even the little ones hone their skills at
home whether it be taking their first
step or uttering new words. Whatever
your passion is, an exciting array of
possibilities open up when you’re in an
environment that allows dreams and
hopes to run wild.
A master at developing communities
in the most convenient and vibrant
locations, everything is accessible
for multitasking millennials. With
condominiums right in the heart
of the city, you are always at the
right place at the right time. Young
professionals who thirst for the perfect
work-life balance will find pursuing
their passion for sports and an active
lifestyle a breeze with majority of Avida
developments peppered with excellent
amenities and opportunely close to
parks and recreation areas.
For 25 years, Avida has provided
inspired living that tune in to the needs
of Filipinos and now, the resolute focus
of millennials toward a more fulfilling
life. At Avida, everyday moments
take on a whole new light because
everything you need to do is around
you. Every day at an Avida home is
indeed a chance to live happy, live
inspired, and live for the future. Now,
all that’s left to do is for you to grab
those chances and welcome inspired
and happier living not just today, but
always.

BEHIND
THE SCENES
Meet the hardworking creative minds
behind the TVC campaign as they bust
out of their own quarters to share their
thoughts on being part of this project
Nino Reyes
Associate Creative Director, TBWA
Where did you get your inspiration
for the TVC campaign?
The campaign was very personal for me because
it happened at a time when I had to move out
of a home that I had been living in for almost
20 years. It was difficult to be inspired when I
only had a few days left to find a new home. At
the time, I was also hospitalized due to dengue.
It was in the hospital that I came up with the
song. I reminisced about the good times I had
at the home I was about to leave—the warmth,
the love, the laughter, and the happy moments,
things that would forever be found at home. I
drew inspiration not from my home, but from the
memories I made there.
in the wardrobe and production design. We
even assigned a specific lens type and camera
movement for each character to give each
vignettes a totally different feel. As for the
acting, we were careful to give them specific
prompts and latitudes so their expressions of
inspiration, joy, happiness, and contentment
manifested differently from one another.
How did the message in the TVC
campaign resonate with you? Did you
relate with any of the characters?
How is this TVC material different
from other TVCs you’ve directed
before?
Each character was actually a representation
of the different stages of my life. Migs and his
friends: the fun, crazy times I spent as young
twentysomething out of college. The artist: my
present self, continuously painting the missing
pieces of my career that I had passionately built
slowly but surely. The couple: what I really aspire
for, the future I envision for myself.
Ianco Dela Cruz
TV director
What was your reaction when you
first saw the storyboard of the TVC?
It was a merry mix of excitement and
nervousness. These days, emotional narrative
spots have become quite a scarcity. And
suddenly, here we were, telling three different
tales with three different sets of characters
with three varying degrees of emotions. I
could tell that both agency and client put in a
lot of thought and effort into crafting such an
inspirational assortment of stories. Now it was
up to our team to tell these stories in the most
beautiful and effective way we possibly could.
What was the inspiration for the
treatment applied on the material?
The biggest challenge was how to make each
set of characters memorable and yet clearly
distinct from each other. We decided to assign
a specific color palette for each story, which
manifested through lighting and subtle cues
22
AV I DA LI V I N G
First, it’s been a while since I last did a
60-second TV commercial. I think all of us in the
industry agree that we don’t see much of those
any more. That in itself was already a refreshing
treat for me. But perhaps the biggest difference
here was being given the freedom to develop
and expound a variety of characters and their
stories as we see fit. Opportunities like these
remind us how TV commercials are still very
much like filmmaking indeed.
How was the experience like working
on this project?
This was truly a one-of-a-kind experience for
me. I feel like everyone—from the client to the
agency and the production team as well as the
post and audio houses—was eager to collaborate
while being mindful and respectful of each
other’s opinions. This openness inspired all of us
to bring something unique and beautiful to the
table. The result is something that we can all be
proud of for many years to come.
Johnoy Danao
Singer
What was your first impression when
you read the lyrics and heard the song?
It’s definitely catchy, that’s what I first thought
of the song. But then I got a little bit nervous
recording it, thinking ‘Can I give this song
justice?’ Glad to be working with great people on
this song, it came out well.
While recording the song, what
memories of home came to mind?
Lutong bahay came to mind. Nothing beats homecooked meals! My mom cooks the btest tinola! What are the things that inspire you
as a songwriter/musician?
People around me. Anything that tickles my heart. Can you share how you were inspired
to pursue a career in music?
After listening to Ultraelectromagneticpop of
Eraserheads, I picked up a guitar and taught myself
to play their songs. That was the start of my
journey to becoming a singer/songwriter. Home is
where I can play my music. My guitar and me. Top Suzara
“Home is Here” arranger
What inspired the arrangement you
made for the song?
I drew inspiration from the brief and the copy,
and the whole idea of dreams being achieved
one by one and the fact that I totally agree that
home is home and nothing could and would ever
compare to the feeling of having your home and
being home. How do you relate to the song and the
campaign material?
After the brief was given, what was great for me
was actually how my life fit with the whole idea
of the campaign. And after reading the copy, I
almost naturally gravitated towards how I wrote
the song and recorded and sang it. It was as if I
was actually there, living the dream of achieving
a milestone in my life. I even told Francis
[Bagnes] that I really enjoyed doing this song and
that it was emotional for me. It was a very good
feeling overall!

About
From hardworking employees
to satisfied homeowners,
Avida Land is home to a
variety of happy personalities
Aside from giving me opportunities to
travel and meet people, Avida has given me
the chance to indirectly contribute to nationbuilding through the housing projects it offers
to hardworking middle-income Filipinos and
their families. After all, we are a company that
provides Filipinos the shelter they deserve. Not
to mention that being an Ayala company, it
makes me proud to be a member of the Ayala
family, too. Somehow, I feel like Don Jaime is my
grand-patriarch.

It must be cliché to hear,
‘What I love about Avida are the
people’ but since they are my real
reason for being in the company,
it has become a mantra. There is
no better sense of satisfaction in
my line of work than having the
opportunity to serve and develop
such a unique set of people.
Seeing them apply themselves,
serve others to the best of their
abilities, and work together to
accomplish audacious goals
brings a rare sense of joy and
fulfillment that creates a smile
on my face and warms my heart.
My everyday immersion to the
vast spectrum of people and
personalities in Avida is indeed
living life in color.

Living in a condominium is new for me. I thought it
would be uncomfortable to live in a condominium since
I'm not used to it. But that thinking changed when we
transferred to Avida Towers BGC 9th Avenue.
The location is good since it is near our office and
commercial centers. The security guards and staff are all
polite. Having them in the building assures us that we are
secure. We have no worries leaving our things in the unit
every weekend. I can say that the security guards always
prioritize the safety of the residents.

Everything that I have worked

Avida led me to big opportunities. It is not every
day that a person is given a chance to change the
landscape of a city and create positive developments.
It has provided me a ground to create difference
through small ways. I also believe in the core values
of the company: being a responsible and dependable
developer. We are constantly reminded on how we
want to do business the right way. Lastly, I like the
company culture. Everyone is empowered. Everyone
is willing to lend a hand to be able to reach our goals.
It just shows that they also love what they do.

What I love about Avida is the fact that we share values like
excellence and integrity. We act with uncompromising honesty in
everything we do and we strive to consistently exceed expectations of
both external and internal customers. The company is also committed
to sustainability and responsible business in its land use, environment
protection, and, ultimately, a contributor to nation-building. The
most enjoyable part of the job is the friendships I have gained and
the fellowship of the team members. The work itself is challenging on
many levels but what makes it manageable is that I am empowered

The Queen City of the South never stops to amaze its visitors
CITY
ESCAPES
There’s always a reason to go
to Cebu. Whether to sight-see,
to attend the annual Sinulog
Festival, to go on a food or
business trip or to move to your
new home at Avida Towers Riala,
this city will always be a never-ending
fascination both to outsiders and locals.
Taboan Public Market
Taboan is the best place to get the most variety
of dried seafood and other local commodities.
Countless woven baskets carry sun-dried
goods to be purchased by the bulk, and
you can even buy fish or shrimp guinamos
(specialty bagoong) by the glass. If you’re
visiting Cebu, it’s best to come with a local so
they can introduce you to their suki vendor.
Carbon, Cebu City Zubuchon
If Cebu is lechon country, Zubuchon is its
official flag carrier. Pronounced by Anthony
Bourdain as the best roast pig ever, Zubuchon
has certainly made its mark all throughout Cebu
serving its signature lechon offering. Headed by
Joel Binamira of Market Manila Blog fame, this
food joint may not serve the typical Cebu lechon
profile, but you can’t resist its charm either.
What’s also remarkable about Zubuchon is their
own take on other restaurant offerings, such as
Crab Relleno, Zubuchon Sisig and Slow-cooked
Adobo. Even their beverages are unique, with
choices like Duhat Shake, Kamias Shake and
Lemongrass and Lime Juice. If you’re worried
about time, you can grab a quick bite at their
airport branch or bring some on the plane with
you to take home.
