L.A. Airport Police Union Takes Another Step Forward
in Fight for Equal Pay for Equal Work for Airport Police Officers
Union hires well-known labor law firm as General Counsel
Los Angeles, CA – As the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers’ Association (LAAPOA)
moves forward in its campaign for equal pay for equal work, the union that represents
the sworn police officers and firefighters of the Los Angeles Airport Police Department
assigned to protect and serve Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), LA/Ontario
International Airport (ONT) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY), has announced they have
retained the law firm Mastagni Holstedt, APC as General Counsel. Mastagni Holstedt is
a professional law corporation focusing on all aspects of labor law and negotiations with
public entities.
“LAAPOA is excited that a law firm of this size and experience is expanding its work to
the City of Los Angeles and Southern California,” said LAAPOA President Marshall
McClain. “I'm confident they will assist us in our current contract negotiations as well as
pave the way for a smooth transition for our members working at Ontario Airport now
that the sale is underway. Given Mastagni Holstedt’s track record of success, including
the litigation and resolution achieved for the Los Angeles City Attorneys Association,
we’re confident they will help us achieve parity for Airport Police Officers.”
McClain continued “There truly are big things happening at Los Angeles World Airports
(LAWA) with an 8 billion dollar renovation and expansion underway effectively making
LAX the busiest airport in the country. LAWA 's fiscal year 2014 is a useful indicator of
its financial condition and at the close of fiscal years 2014 and 2013, LAWA’s assets
exceeded liabilities by $4.8 billion and $4.6 billion respectively representing a 6.4%
increase or $291.4 million. The money is there to pay Airport Police Officers equal pay
for their work.”
“LAAPOA wants to ensure that the brave men and women of the Los Angeles Airport
Police are no longer left behind and treated with disrespect. For far too long Airport
Police have been understaffed and subjected to lower wages and benefits while having
to work in run down public safety facilities with outdated equipment. We are confident

the Mastagni Holstedt firm will help us accomplish our priorities centered about
achieving parity for Airport Police Officers.”
