Welcome to the 15th year of Secret Gardens of Oxton. This popular community event, in a delightful Wirral conservation area, has raised over £250,000 for charities and events in the village since 2002, so thank you for your support. This year’s event marks Father’s Day, so bring your Dad along, and treat him to a great day out. Visit The Hub (in Mount Pleasant) for event information, refreshments, music and to take your chance on the raffle. Discover the 22 gardens on view, have a lunch break, enjoy the entertainment (including children’s activities) and visit the arts and crafts stalls. There is something for everyone. Most importantly, enjoy the day with your friends and family. For children Throughout the day: Carousel – Cooke’s Yard, Village Centre (sponsored by Brennan Ayre O’Neill) (proceeds to Secret Gardens’ charities) Craft activities in The Green Shop, Village Centre Face Painter – Village Centre (15% donated to Secret Gardens Charities) Donkey rides – Claughton Firs, Village Centre from 11am (15% donated to Secret Gardens’ charities) Parkgate Ponies – Rose Mount Close (H on map), from 11am (proceeds to Parkgate Pony Sanctuary) … and for adults too Christ Church (C on map) From 12 noon The Church’s history and Secret Miniature Gardens by pupils of Christ Church Primary School Horse-drawn omnibus (by garden 4 on map) Victoria Mount, from 11am Climb on board a horse-drawn omnibus for a trip back in time. Pay the driver (15% will be donated to the Secret Gardens’ charities). Great for children and nostalgic adults. Panoramic views of Wirral, Cheshire and Liverpool (V on map) Ascend in groups departing every 30 minutes. Can be booked in advance from 11.30am at The Hub. Narrow access, 100 narrow spiral steps, risk of vertigo and claustrophobia. Flat shoes only please. Also look around the church and see a small display about its history. Williamson Art Gallery View mini gardens made previously during children’s workshops. Pick-a-Prize raffle At The Hub. Not your usual raffle. View the wide range of prizes on display and distribute your tickets among the prizes you actually want. All proceeds to the Secret Gardens’ charities. The draw takes place at 4.30pm 1 ticket = 50p 5 tickets = £2 10 tickets = £3 20 tickets = £5 40 tickets = £7 The more you buy the cheaper the ticket. Plant sales Village Centre while stocks last. Oxton Village In addition to refreshments provided by charitable organisations, the Williamson Art Gallery and businesses in and around the village offer a wide choice throughout the day. From a snack to a three course meal, see what is on offer at the cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants.
