Formed 1st September 2015 with thanks to all at EPN for organising and hosting this symposium executive board executive board President: Paul Brown United Kingdom Vice-President: John Baldwin Canada Secretary: Sofi Wadsjö Sweden Treasurer: Jonas Nordmo Myhre Norway why do we need IFISA? (a quick recap for those not able to make the meeting yesterday) In a flight safety critical industry, is it not reasonable for a pilot to expect a standard level of FISO service from one nation to another? Bjarne just highlighted some fundamental differences between nations on some basics aspects of our roles which affect area as well as aerodrome FIS Training requirements vary wildly Minimum hours of duty range from once every 90 days, to 50 hours in 3 months 25% of countries polled have no national regulations! 12.5% had no mandatory competency checks post validation! An international association has been talked about for many years - you now have it! reason 1 established 1961 ATCO associations have been working together for 54 years Why not FISO’s? reason 2 Who currently represents FISO’s interests internationally? reason 3 Who is best qualified to represent FISO interests with regard to updating ICAO circular 211-AN/128 from 1988! reason 4 Similar to ATC, we would all benefit from standard rules and procedures across the board. Why Not? reason 5 FISO FIS AFISO RIS HFIS HFISO FFP AFIS FFS The FISO service is referred to by many different titles? Why not standardise? reason 6 Issues FISO’s experience are not nationally unique, working together to resolve these WILL get results. Until today, no international representation available to promote the FISO’s viewpoint what next? Create/develop website ICAO/EASA recognition Make contact with as many national FISO Associations with a view to expanding membership the surprise! You are all just going to have to wait till next Wednesday! any questions?
