Notes from the President
At the November guild meeting, we decided that our December
luncheon will be the traditional pot luck rather than catered. That
means you need to bring your favorite dish to:
Immaculate Conception Church, 125 Amelia Street, Sutter Creek
on December 8th. ***See the map on page 3.
In past years, the proportions of appetizers to main dish to salad to
desert have miraculously worked out perfectly. Check your intuition
before selecting your contribution, and I’m sure it will work out as
always. The kitchen reportedly has enough plugs for our crockpots, and
please remember to bring the necessary serving dishes and utensils.
As this goes to press, (sorry, my Dad was a journalist) we are still in
need of a president and vice president! The nominating committee
would love to swear in all four officers at the December luncheon;
please consider filling one of these openings.
The ongoing saga of where to meet continues. Our current choices are:
1. Back to the New Fellowship Church in Pine Grove on a month to
month basis. 2. The Immaculate Conception Church in Sutter Creek.
3. Faith Lutheran Church in Pioneer with a change of time and day
(Monday classes and Tuesday afternoon meeting). 4. The Jackson
Rancheria turned out to be welcoming but quite expensive ($400/
month).
Regrettably, I may not be able to make it to the luncheon as my
husband has surgery tentatively scheduled for December 7th in San
Francisco. If I can’t make it, the rest of the board will do a marvelous
job orchestrating the luncheon.
Please accept my best wishes for the holiday season and my heartfelt
thanks for all the support and good will you have shown me.

Here are the classes and workshops that have been scheduled for the next 7 months!
The January class will be a community quilt workshop;
In February, there will be a chemo cap workshop;
In March, Jenny Lyon will return. She will be teaching “Fills and Things”;
April is Ellen Dambacher with “Modern Amish” quilts;
In May, Sue Siefkin will be teaching “Focus on Flowers”;
The June class with Schatzi Brimer includes using dryer sheets. Start saving your used dryer
sheets now;
 Scheduled for July is Marjan Kluepfel, with her “Sky Painted Landscapes”.







Sierra Gold Quilt Guild Members
I, Donna Stokes, received the generous donation of $xxx at
our November meeting. This amazing effort of gifting has
my heart and soul reveling in your generosity and feeling
overwhelmed with gratitude. It is really hard to describe
how one might deal with a tragedies that happen that shake
your very foundation, but when community, friends and
family all come together you realize the value of just what
and how you can endure. I am eternally grateful for the
incredible gift of monies given both to Anita and myself, it
is really immeasurable and touches and comforts me deeply,
to come along-side to support and encourage.

Sarah Hart’s Quilt
In her words; “Once the quilt show is over with, and as we settle down into fall and winter, if you
want to make a little 8 1/2 inch (8 inch finished) square out of some of your scraps in one of your
favorite patterns I would love it. Greens and browns to remember the pine and cedar woods,
dark red and green for the manzanita, lavenders for the lilacs and wisteria that melted from the
heat, cream and white - or any color - log cabin pattern for mine and other houses saved by
wonderful firefighters, red and yellow for the fire trucks everywhere (my crew was yellow so
firemen aren’t always in red), or anything to represent this beautiful area we call home or what
touched you by going through all this together. Just no grays and blacks please. There is enough
of that around here.”
So let’s get busy and make her some commemorative squares! Please bring your 8 ½ inch
square to the January 2016 meeting.

Here we are at the end of a very unusual year!
So many high points and a few really low points.
No one can say we're not "flexible"!!
My heartfelt thanks to you all who blessed our
"treats table" with something special from your
heart and home during this year.
We've all enjoy your "little something" with our
coffee and tea during our monthly meetings.
Here's to a happy Christmas season and may the
new year bring each of you lots of good things

End of the Year Chemo Cap Challenge!
My challenge to you is that the all of our
members together can make more caps than
Martha Phillips has made by herself.
So far, Martha has turned in 189 caps this year.

****Martha, Linda and I would like to let the members know that we'll be handing the
reins over to someone else to do the Mini quilt show after the December meeting.****
Our 4 years have been fun and challenging and we'd like to thank all of you for participating in it.
It's time we get new blood to take over. We've found small groups of three or four people, works
very well. I think we all love the mini quilt show so talk to your small groups and see if this is
something you'd like to do as we all love to see the beautiful quilts hanging around the room.

Interfaith Food Bank
THE FACES OF HUNGER
I’m a child, I’m a senior citizen, I’m a single parent, I’m homeless, I’m temporarily unemployed or
can’t earn a sustainable living wage. I’m disabled, I’m a veteran, I’m a recovering alcoholic/drug
addict. I live in your community. You often pass me on the street. Your children go to school
with me. You work with me. I sit next to you in church. I live in your community but I don’t
want anyone to know my situation. I am your neighbor and friend. These are the faces of
hunger…
Today… Right now… Over 6,000 Amador County residents
struggle with food insecurity.
What is food insecurity? In short, “struggling to avoid hunger”.
You can assist the Interfaith Food Bank in
fighting food insecurity and help feed the many faces of hunger by
becoming a monthly sustaining donor of any amount you choose.
Your monthly contribution will provide a steady stream of funding during the year when
donations are low and inconsistent.
