The purpose of the Guild shall be to provide an avenue to
enrich the community through quilt making, to stimulate an
interest in quilts to promote and advance the art of quiltmaking and related subjects and to encourage the preservation
of quilts and their history.
FROM THE PRESIDENT
Barbara Walker
Fellow Quilters,
I hope you are all enjoying your summer. I just finished painting my dining
room. I'm getting too old for that! And I need to repaint and paper the bathroom
next week! Then the grandkids will be here the following week and that always
wears me out. But, they are so much fun.
I'm sure I will still find time to sit at the sewing machine. My piece for the
February challenge is just begun. I hope your challenge project is at least in the
planning stage, if not started. There were so many great ideas from Jeanne Poore
at last month's meeting..
Happy quilting and I hope to see you all at the July meeting.

NEWS FROM THE EDITOR
Tara Batman
I hope you all had a good and loud 4th of July, I know it was smelly!! Can't
believe the weather was so mild.
I am always looking for new trends in quilting and I have found another popular trend in quiltmaking. I think, when I get over my hexie streak, I will try this one as hand pieced quilt. Panama
Pyramids quilt triangles are the craze which looks as a good block to help me narrow down my scrap
stash, my #2 objective in this year's sewing plans. The group is doing a sew-in on a facebook group
which is closed. All you have to do, is go to facebook then go to group Panama Pyramids and ask to
join, Linda Collins will e-mail you back. Linda has a really neat set of templets that make the block
construction easier and the blocks look really unique which would be interesting in my collection of
Jo Morton fabrics. If you are into the older looking quilts this one be a good one to try.
Check it out but I think it would be a great looking quilt.
Have a good July, try to avoid the HEAT!!

The Piecemaker Sewing group at the
Senior Center appreciates the
donations that have been made as a
result of the Silver Needles newsletter.
We use solid color sheets for liners,
instead of batting, so are constantly in
need of any size sheets. These can be
used sheets; we can work around
minor stains or holes.
One of the groups largest yearlong
projects is making a lightweight bunk
size coverlet for each foster kid that
goes to summer camp at Camp Webster
in August. The number varies from
year to year, with an average of 90.
The Piecemakers recently donated
twelve twin size quilts to the teen
crisis unit at the Mental Health Center.
