Windansea 6th Annual Halloween Costume and Dance Party
To Benefit the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County
Highlands, NJ -- Today the owners of Windansea announced that their Annual
Halloween Costume and Dance Party will serve another purpose other than
ghoulish fun – it will also serve as a food drive for the Food Bank of Monmouth
and Ocean. The Halloween Costume Party held annually is one of Windansea’s
most successful nights and attracts a wide variety of witches, werewolves and
even Elvis!
“There are many here in Monmouth County that are struggling to feed their
families. The Food Bank provides a safety net for many who otherwise would go
hungry. So we are asking each person that comes to celebrate with us to bring a
can of food with them on Halloween night,” said Dan Shields, one of
Windansea’s owners.
Shields went on to say that he and his partners chose the Saturday night,
October 31st Halloween party for the food drive because annually it has been one
the restaurant’s best nights -- generally packed with people dressed as monsters,
maidens and madmen (see pics at Windansea’s Facebook page and website at
www.windanseanj.com).

“When people are celebrating and happy, they are also more likely to give and a
can of food seems like a simple, direct way to help out people that may not have
much to celebrate right now,” noted Shields.
A drop-off will be stationed inside Windansea’s front door all day Saturday,
October 31st. Among the items Windansea is requesting guests to bring are:
ready-to-eat canned meats, canned tuna, canned fruits, canned vegetables,
instant potatoes, canned and dry soup, peanut butter, jelly, canned pork and
beans, canned juices, sip-size juices, hot and cold cereal, nonperishable milk.
Cash donations or checks will also be collected and Windansea will match a
percentage of those donations. For every $5 donated, the Food Bank can
distribute $25 worth of food for needy families.
