NEWS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DESK
If I haven’t met you yet….you’re on my list!
For those of you who haven’t heard , I replaced Joel
Fridgen on August 1 of this year and I’m terrifically
excited to begin a new chapter for the Chamber. I’ve
spent the past two months meeting and listening to
you, our members, about what you want from your
Chamber, what you don’t want and most importantly,
what we can do for you. Some of you expressed surprise when I posed this question, but ultimately, everyone answered almost the same way; you want us—the
Chamber—to help you connect to customers.
We are putting together a plan to bring more value back
to you—our members. Because communication is so important—and ultimately connects
people to your business— we have upgraded our email system and are working hard to
make sure we have the right contact information for you and your organization. We are
improving our website and have some terrific and very low cost ways to spotlight you on
our site. We are active on Facebook, and will be unveiling a Twitter feed and Instagram
account in time for Heritage Christmas. I’m on the radio once a week on Newstalk 103.7,
representing Greencastle-Antrim, and our community and we are exploring many options for other marketing opportunities including bill board advertising, direct mail
campaigns, and magazine articles and new sponsorship opportunities.

My ultimate goal —indeed my only goal—is to make our Chamber as active, relevant,
exciting, and valuable as possible. To do so, I need your help! Communicate with us; tell
what you want to see; participate in the activities and events the Chamber sponsors and
be a voice that embraces the opportunities and supports the community.

ANNUAL BANQUET & CELEBRATION
We TURNED 60! Our anniversary party (sponsored by F&M Trust) was on September 17
at Green Grove Gardens. We had a great night celebrating
our past and looking forward to our bright future. The
evening also paid tribute to two very special guests: Frank
Traver, our James P. Oliver Business Person of the Year
Award and Joel Fridgen, past Executive Director for the
Chamber.

Greencastle is getting the Royal Treatment!
Heaven Zweemer is opening Lady Mary’s Royal Tea Shop this fall at 30
West Baltimore Street in Greencastle. Her idea is inspired from her days as
a young lady having tea in her grandmother’s garden every day after school.
Heaven will be offering the full experience of high Victorian tea, complete
with sweets and savories to enjoy along with a blissful cup of delicious tea.

NEWSTALK 103.7 FM
Did you know that we are on the radio? Once a month, Newstalk 103.7 FM
partners with the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce and spotlights two small or medium size businesses who are members of the
Chamber of Commerce. The show airs on Saturday morning from 9-10 AM
and is a great way to get free air time for your business and talk about your
successes, your challenges, your future and any specials or promotions you
want your customers to know about. In addition, First Community Bank of
Mercersburg will provide you with a free thumb drive of the show that you
can upload on your own social media site. It’s a great benefit to Chamber
members.
In July, we showcased Dan Grooms from the Greencastle Bicycle Exchange
and Sandra Fink Freeman from Greencastle Eye Care. In August we welcomed Heaven from Lady Mary’s Royal Tea and Inner Beauty. In September, we spotlighted Bill Wissinger from the Tennis Club in Zullinger and
Jorge from Express Personnel and in October we spoke with Eric Forrester
from Mason Dixon BBQ and Dean Martin from Sunnyway Foods.

Guests were treated to a self-guided walking tour of the plant which
provides a wide range of print solutions from attention grabbing marketing material to mission critical business collateral and label services.
Industry segments served include banks, credit unions, hospitals,
school systems and universities, major manufacturers, food packagers
and non-profit organizations. The Greencastle-Antrim Chamber
of Commerce is proud to be one of the non-profit organizations that
relies on Graphics’ great customer service and superior quality.

College where he will be
majoring in mechanical
engineering. Members
had a busy summer selling brooms at Marion
Festivals and the Greencastle Sportsmen Ox
Roasts. Thanks to those
Organizations for giving
us this opportunity. The
October fundraiser supported White Cane Day
on Friday, October
9. Donations raised will
be used specifically for
sight projects, including
purchasing eyeglasses
for needy individuals. If

CARL’S DRUG STORE EXHIBIT CELEBRATED
Allison-Antrim Museum, 365 South Ridge Avenue, Greencastle, PA hosted a special open house
on Saturday, September 12, for the public to see
the Carl’s Drug Store exhibit – a one-of-a-kind
collection. The exhibit commemorated the
190th anniversary for the oldest, continuously,
operating drug store in the U.S. For 149 years,
three generations of the Carl family owned the
pharmacy. Dr. Adam Carl arrived in Greencastle
in April 1825. He opened his drug store on April
27 in his residence at 13 South Carlisle
Street. Throughout the 190 year-old history of the
drug store, the business has been located at seven
different addresses in the Borough of Greencastle. Allison-Antrim Museum is partnered with
Frank Ervin, former proprietor of Carl’s Drug
Store, and Carl’s Drug Store in celebrating this
momentous milestone, with never-before-seen
artifacts and memorabilia. The story of Carl’s
Drug Store is not only part of GreencastleAntrim’s history but it is also part of American
history. Allison-Antrim Museum is regularly
open Monday to Friday, noon to 4 pm. For more

GREENCASTLE AREA ARTS COUNCIL
Greencastle Area Arts Council invites the chamber members and
their customers to view their art wall at the Lillian Besore Memorial
Library. The exhibit space is by the computers near the circulation
desk. There is a new exhibit every 7 weeks.
Currently being displayed are beautiful watercolors by local artist,
Glen Sabetto. Glen’s stunning artwork resembles a photograph,
very rich in subject with the softness of a dream. Come see her
work through November 3, 2015.

Congratulations to Rotz/Stonesifer on receiving their peer
review highest rating of PASS in their recent evaluation.
The Peer Review Committee of the Pennsylvania Institute
of Certified Public Accounting (PICPA) completed an independent review of the company’s accounting and auditing

The wait is over! After a summer spent renovating and updating it's
store, ELM Shoes of Greencastle will reveal it's updated new look
this Monday October 19 at 11 AM. Located in the heart of Greencastle

This year’s beautiful ornament is a celebration of the 25 Anniversary of Heritage Christmas. This community-wide
celebration now boasts more than 50 events which include the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Lights of Love, the Santa
Parade, Santa’s mailbox, Pictures with Santa, Horse and Buggy Rides on Friday nights in December, Music, Caroling, Cookie Decorating, and so much more. This ornament highlights the town square, the iconic Bank Tower clock
