The holly mocked, as if a crown Of laurel for a king; Yet intertwined were cruel thorns That pierced – a blood-let ring. The sharp pain tore His tender brow But that was only part; -Penetrating, O, so deep – It broke His tender heart. The Father said, ‘Forevermore The holly tree shall bear Crimson berries with the green Like laid once in His hair. ✝ This Week We Remember ✝ Dec 19 Dec 20 Dec 21 Dec 22 Dec 23 Dec 24 Dec 25 Miles W Lynch Rev James Paul Mitchell Thomas Vincent Greene Francis J Toner Rev James H Reinsborough Yvon Durand Patricia Boudreau Barry John Burns Joseph Aurelle Michaud Rebecca Hazel Carten Brendon Layden Oreto Margaret Lynch Artemas Knee Violet Evelyn Adams Eva Powers Cyr 1987 1989 1993 1975 1982 2002 2003 1999 2003 1994 1998 1961 2004 2008 2000 Faithful Departed Ruby Murdoch, mother of Verna Shaw And thorns would never form again Upon the holly tree But berries red, and prickly leaves Would be for all to see.’ At Christmastide the wreaths are formed Of holly green and red – Reminder of what our dear Lord Had wound ‘round His head.
