Tip of the Month Karen Guignard, Bark Busters Dog Behavioral Therapist and Master Trainer. Go to www.barkbusters.com for more information Choosing a Puppy - A dog's age, breed and temperament, combined with your lifestyle and personality, all play an important role in determining what kind of dog is the best fit for you and your family. Adopting a puppy has certain advantages—you will be able to choose a dog with the best temperament for you and ensure he gets a proper education before behavioral problems or bad habits develop. But puppies bring added responsibilities, too. During the first few months, a puppy requires more of your time than an older dog for housetraining, socialization, feeding, and entertainment, as well as additional training as your goals change and your puppy matures. If you do not have the time for a puppy, consider adopting a full-grown dog that has already gone through the puppy stage. For further details on choosing a puppy go to www.barkbusters.com. Page 4 Issue 18 ADOPTION UPDATES 'W' m Bernadette - a Bernese Mountain Dog mix was adopted by Eleanor Farlow and her husband. As you can see she is doing great and is getting lots of love. Bernadette maybe be our biggest lap dog ever! Thanks, Eleanor Noah,;now named Ozzie We adopted Ozzie from you back in December. He is training to be a therapy dog. However, he has already won the hearts of the residents at my mom's assisted living. He even attends church with us and sits quietly in his cage. Thank you so much for choosing us to be bis new family. Jeremy, a Maine Coon mix, has been adopted by the VanPatten family and is settling in nicely in his new home and doing great with his new friend. Page 5 Issue 18 Needs a "forever" home Brownie is a Dachshund mix about 2 years old. He is on the shy side and is not sure of people still. Brownie needs that special someone to bond with and learn to trust. He has been in the kennel too long and needs his "forever" home. He can not go to a home with small children. He is a beautiful little guy and deserves his second chance in life VOLUNTEERS N E E D E D As the HS CAR grows the opportunities for more events also grows.
