(949) 497-2110 COVER SPOTLIGHT: Laguna Beach Music Festival Four days of outstanding classical and contemporary music! The annual Laguna Beach Music Festival is right around the corner February 12-15 and will take place at a variety of venues. The Festival includes a full weekend of concerts, special events, outreach and discovery. The Festival has historically been a platform for up-and-coming Wendy Castellanos-Wolf, of L.A. Flamenco artists with world class musicians performing at intimate venues. Included in the weekend are special appearances by friends of Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, including the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, Janelle DeStefano, Phil Proctor and L.A. Flamenco. This year the Festival incorporates the Valentine’s Day weekend as LAGQ & Friends will explore Spanish romance, Flamenco dance and Don Quixote. Festival Director, Laura Ricker, is thrilled to be hosting the Taste of the Festival at the Laguna Art Museum and introduce the Festival’s Guest Artistic Director and Musicians with Tapas, sangria and a performance of short selections to kick off the weekend. LBMF will feature three concert performances beginning with Opening Night and two of America’s most dynamic chamber quartets uniting to explore new sounds. LAGQ and LAPQ perform unique arrangements for four classical guitars and four percussionists as well as the world premiere of Ymir by Jeffrey Holmes conducted by Brian Head. Other repertoire highlights include Steve Reich’s Six Marimbas, Steve Forman’s Bitcoins and John Bergamo’s Piru Bol. Tickets may be purchased for the Opening Celebration held at the Laguna Playhouse which includes delicious wines, special food treats and a private on-stage dessert party afterwards with the musicians. The Laguna Beach Music Festival is a presentation of Laguna Beach Live! and the Philharmonic Society of Orange County. Tickets for the 2015 Laguna Beach Music Festival are now on sale and can be purchased at www.lagunabeachmusicfestival.com. Ongoing Events IN LAGUNA LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE: Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin. The answer is “yes.” All her Chloe, Gucci and Louis Vuitton handbags are the real deal. Since she was a little girl in her native Poland her first love was always purses! When she moved to Orange County as an Au Pair and a student of finance, she started selling designer purses on eBay to overseas customers where she found the Japanese market to be the hottest because women were constantly changing their style. As local interest grew she decided to set up shop in Laguna Beach because of its shopping allure. Anya buys her vintage luxury brand handbags from reputable sources and will purchase bags outright from anyone willing to sell. She also carries designer wallets, some non-name brands, jewelry and accessories from around the world. Her bags are in pristine condition and a fraction of the price of department stores. People often ask why buy real and the answer is quite simply craftsmanship. A quality handbag should last 20-30 years and they never lose their value. Shopping from Anya lets you see and feel the merchandise and you never need to run the risk of online scams. Anya’s Secret Boutique is located at 735 S. Coast Hwy. (949) 232-9128. Publisher and Editor-in-Chief: LISA FARBER Associate Editor: CRISSY SAMUEL Printing Services: KATIE FORD / FORD DESIGN GROUP Laguna Beach Vibe is a bi-weekly publication published every other Tuesday. PO Box 1385, Laguna Beach, CA 92652. Phone: 949-241-6966. Email: Advertising@ LagunaBeachVibe.com. Nick I. Hernandez is passionate about writing songs and performing on stage but his favorite stage exists on water. Surfing and fishing have been a lifelong obsession since age 5. “Taking chances surfing big waves or diving off a boat in the middle of the ocean to spear fish gives you a rush and makes you appreciate life.” For the last 18 years Nick has been dedicated to passing on that “rush” by working with Surfers Healing, a non-profit which introduces surfing to children with autism across the globe. His musical collaborations include writing the theme song with Hans & Carmen Rey of Wheels for Life which supplies bicycles to underdeveloped countries, Wyland and the Blues Planet project which promotes the Wyland Foundation’s mission to preserve and protect the oceans, as well as writing several songs with the late Redz from Rebel Rockers, currently available at Sound Spectrum. Catch Nick with his band A.D.D. on Fridays at Mozambique. Music by Nick I. Hernandez and Common Sense are online at cdbaby.com WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADVERTISE IN THE LAGUNA BEACH VIBE?
