Dear VOB festival guest,
Thank you for attending our first Village of Brewster Film & Food Festival. The
Walter Brewster House holds its place in our town’s rich history—and we plan to
make history of our own with this event! Through your participation, interest, and
support, we hope this will be the successful inauguration of an annual tradition.
We are appreciative of the many people and organizations whose joint and
cooperative efforts brought this venture to fruition. None of which would
have happened without Bob and Stacy Dumont of The Bowl Company—our
visionaries, who were also the founders of ArtBeat, a highly successful crafts fair
started in 2011. The Brewster Chamber of Commerce saw the partnership as a
way to bring the Arts and business community together.
Our roots in this community run strong.
We’re more than your local bank.
Our roots are here, too.
We’re your neighbors, friends and family.
Together, we build a better community.
We wish to thank all the talented and ambitious filmmakers who brought their
stories to the Festival. And of course, we thank the endless list of volunteers who
have provided their talent and time to making this day possible.
The VOB Festival is just one way that the Chamber provides exposure for its
members while bringing the community together. We have become an integral
and beneficial force in Putnam and its surrounding communities as we engage
our businesses with networking events that include: monthly dinner meetings,
Breakfast B4 Business and After Business Mixers. Our local businesses grow and
thrive and in turn enrich our town, community, and county.
That’s the power of partnership.
On behalf of all who participated in the Village of Brewster Film & Food Festival:
eat, drink, be merry, and enjoy the show!
Sincerely,
Cathy Purdy

Above all else, we are story tellers. Hailing from Milwaukee, WI,
directors Adam Santiago & Michael Gerrity have been telling
stories together for almost 5 years. Having attended the same
arts high school, their background in theatre enables them to
incorporate the more collaborative aspects of theatre into their film
work. Shot entirely on location in Chicago, IL, Before I Met You is
the latest joint-effort of the two directors.
Currently, Michael Gerrity is finishing his last year of college
education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Adam
Santiago is the head of a Digital Media department at a start-up
social networking website in Albuquerque, NM. In spite of the
distance, the two budding directors are maintaining their creative
drives.

Eugene Armencha is a visual effects artist and filmmaker, working
in New York City. Walrus vs. Unicorn was his thesis project for the
3D animation program at Pratt Institute. Combining his love for
both film and effects work, he wrote, shot, and animated Walrus
vs. Unicorn. The film takes place in a fictional version of Brewster,
where Mr. Bowman, a walrus, runs for mayor in opposition to a
corrupt corporation’s attempts to construct a giant mall. Armencha,
with the new skills and resources he has gained since graduating,
he has begun work on two more episodes to complete the Walrus
vs. Unicorn trilogy.

Victoria DeMartin is currently entering her junior year as a BFA
Film Directing major at the SUNY Purchase Film Conservatory.
She is 20 years old, from White Plains, NY and has been making
“films” since first bossing her dad and his VHS camera around at
age seven. A passion second to film in her life is ballet, which she
has continued since an early age as well. She would like to thank
the Village of Brewster Film Festival for selecting Round Trip
for consideration and adds the fun fact that, after multiple readthroughs, the film was shot in 2 hours; one hour riding the train up
from White Plains to Southeast and another hour going back.

Gary Ploski is an actor of stage, screen, and the web. quiet de luxe
marks his directorial debut and is the first film created out of the
newly formed production company, flipmeover.com. Made during
the NYC 48 Hour Film Project, the entire film was written, shot
and edited over the course of one weekend. This is the first short
film for Raffaella Meloni and the second for Katelyn Collins; both
were cast hours after the 48 hour countdown had begun. With
its focus on LGBT issues, quiet de luxe embodies the misson of
flipmeover.com — to use “media to raise awareness of social
issues.”
