WWI memorial windows

As WWI came to a close, public monuments
appeared throughout the country. Stained-glass
windows were less visible than the statues of
soldiers, avenues of honour and obelisks, but no
less important as symbols for remembrance and
gathering places for collective mourning. On the
eve of ANZAC Day 2016 Dr Bronwyn Hughes
will speak about these memorial windows and
her latest work in progress – Lights everlasting:
ANZAC commemorated in stained glass.
