Harris Hotel Visitor Guide - Florida Institute of Technology
Harris Hotel Harris Hotel Dear Guest: On behalf of Florida Institute of Technology, welcome to the Harris Hotel, a Unique On-Campus Experience! In August 2008, our beautiful Harris Village residence hall opened to provide housing to returning students throughout the school year. This suite has been specially outfitted for your visit, and we are committed to ensuring that your stay is both enjoyable and comfortable. We invite you to take a stroll around our amazing campus, take in some sunshine, check out our unique 15-arce Botanical Gardens, or even play some basketball or volleyball with the family. While you are staying with us, our hope is that Florida Tech will become your "home away from home." Our goal is to provide a friendly and inviting atmosphere, along with a clean and comfortable room. For non-emergency concerns (Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm), please contact the Conference Service Bureau at (321) 309-EVENT (3836). If you encounter any emergencies while staying with us, please contact 9-1-1 or Campus Security at (321) 674-8111. We welcome your comments, feedback, and suggestions. You will find a feedback form in your room. Please fill out with your feedback and leave the form in your room upon departure, so that we can continue to improve this unique “hotel” experience for future guests. We hope that your stay is everything that you envisioned and that you enjoy exploring what Florida Tech has to offer during your visit. The WR-100 radio has a special receiver that tunes to the 24/7 broadcast issued by the National Weather Service. The combined All Hazards/Weather Alert broadcast network is the single, most immediate source for comprehensive weather and emergency information available to the public. In the event of special warning broadcasts, the radio is automatically activated along with a loud tone, an LED indicator, and an “alert” message on the LCD. Emergency weather bulletins include alerts about: tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, ice/snow storms, and other severe weather. To Operate: 1. Press the WEATHER/SNOOZE button to turn on the radio. 2. Listen to the alert. Note: Brevard County is a large county, so it is important to listen for the area’s key words: “South Brevard,” “Melbourne, or ”Palm Bay.” 3. When you are done listening to the alert, press the WEATHER/SNOOZE button to turn off the radio. 6 Harris Hotel Television Brighthouse Cable Channel Guide 2 WESH (NBC) Daytona Beach-2 3 WOFL (FOX/Ind) Orlando-35 4 WOPX (ION) Orlando-56 6 WKMG (CBS) Orlando-6 7 WFTV (ABC) Orlando-9 8 WKCF (CW/Ind) Clermont-18 10 WRDQ (Ind) Orlando-27 11 TNT 12 TBS 13 Central Florida News13 14 WACX (Ind) Leesburg-55 15 WGN (Ind) Chicago 16 WRBW Orlando-65 17 WOTF (TeleFutura) Melb-43 18 WVEN (Univision) Orlando-26 19 WTGL (Ind) Leesburg-45 20 WMFE (PBS) Orlando-24 21 QVC 22 WHLV (Ind) Cocoa Beach-52 23 CNN Headline News 24 CNN 25 CNBC 26 MSNBC 27 The Weather Channel 28 FOX News 29 ESPN 30 ESPN2 31 Sun Sports 32 Speed Channel 34 Nickelodeon 35 Disney Channel 36 Cartoon Network 37 WE 38 TV Land 39 USA Network 40 Lifetime 41 The Discovery Channel 42 A&E 43 History 44 Animal Planet 45 The Learning Channel 46 Turner Classic Movies 47 Bright House Sports Network 48 American Movie Classics (AMC) 49 Local Programming/NASA 50 FOX Sports Florida 54 SOAPnet 55 Lifetime Movie Network 56 The Travel Channel 57 Bravo 58 The Golf Channel 59 Food Network 60 truTV 61 HGTV 62 WTMO Telemundo 64 Oxygen 65 E! One trail has been named the Dent Smith Trail in honor of the founder of the Palm Society, a worldwide organization primarily engaged in the study of the palm family in all its aspects. Florida Tech, through the intense interest of President Emeritus Jerome P. Keuper and the inspiration and help of Mr. Dent Smith, is well on the way to becoming one of the most unique botanical gardens of its kind in the continental United Sates. The campus is now beautified by a collection of approximately 200 different species of palms, all of which have been catalogued and marked for students' information. More than 300 palm trees have been donated to the university's collection. Some of these palms have been donated by eminent palm tree authorities and are very rare and irreplaceable. To help protect the flora and the fauna and the safety of visitors, we ask that bicycles, skateboards, and dogs not be taken into the garden. Also removing, cutting, or tampering with the plant life in the garden is considered a serious offence. The garden is a pleasant place for all, if all who use it will take pride in its cleanliness and beauty. The Botanical Garden is open daily from dawn to dusk. 11 Harris Hotel Clemente Center Phone: (321) 674-7785 Summer Hours: Monday-Thursday: 11am-9pm Friday: 11am-7pm Saturday-Sunday: Closed Equipment: • Treadmills • Elliptical Machines • Stationary bikes • Olympic Weight Set • Complete Dumbbell Set • Weight machines • Stability Balls • Medicine Balls • Racquetball, Badminton, Basketball, and Volleyballs available upon request 12 Harris Hotel Food Service & Dining Panther Dining Hall Panther Dining Hall is the main residential dining room; located in the center of campus, just south of the Clemente Center.
