On behalf of the Citrus Park Staff, We welcome back our returning Citrus Park residents and a special welcome
to our new residents that are spending their first season with us. We hope you had a pleasant summer and are
ready for a warm and exciting winter with us here in Citrus Park.
Please take note of a few friendly reminders:

In April of this year Citrus Park was informed by the local municipalities that curb side pick-up will no
longer be available and offered in our community.  Instead it has been mandated that ALL bulk items
(TV’s, sofas, beds, mattresses, appliances etc.) be placed in our designated location next to our
recyclable container at the Clubhouse parking lot. Please do not contact Advance Disposal as they will
not pick up any curb side items!! NO CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS!! Violators will be fined.

Please take note of the new mailroom hours; the mail window will be open from 12:15 – 3:15 P.M.
Monday thru Friday. Our postal delivery takes place between 11 a.m. and noon during the week. For
this reason our goal is to have that day’s received mail in your mailbox by 3 p.m. Please keep in mind
that this long standing mail delivery service in the RV section has been a courtesy provided by Citrus
Park through the cooperation and understanding of our City Officials and even more so our United
Postal Service located on Old 41. For any questions please contact Mandy Soards at 992-3030 ext. 200.

All vendors used for work on the outside of your home must have their insurance and liability
information on file at the Administration Office. Otherwise, Citrus Park will not permit them to work
on the property.

The Administration Office will be closed for lunch from 12:30 – 1:30 Monday thru Friday. Please turn
your cell phones off when in the administration lobby. Also, there are still items in our lost and found
from last season. If these items are not claimed by January 1st we will dispose or donate them. Thank
you.

The cost for a new or a replacement bar code is $20.00.

Let us toot our own horn for a moment. Some exciting things that have and are still changing our
community in a positive direction;
We have a reverse osmosis water system that has been in operation wonderfully since April.
We have a new lid cover for our water tank
You will notice several roads in our Mobile Home Resort section getting resurfaced. This upgrade will
take approximately 2 – 3 years as we have decided it is in our best interest to complete this upgrade in
street phases.
Some wonderful tiki shade umbrellas have been added at both pools.
Stay tuned for the long awaited pickleball courts ***coming in 2015***!!!

ALL SALES ARE FINAL for tickets that are purchased
through the Activities Office for outside events
(i.e Theatre, sporting events, bus trips, etc.)
You are welcome to sell your tickets to a Citrus Park
resident, but MUST notify the Activities Office of the
new ticket holders name and contact information.
In house events (i.e. Dinner Dances, Shows, Concerts,
etc.) will be refundable up until 7 days prior to the
event date. Please understand that the Activities Office
cannot absorb the cost of fees related to last minute

Please register your phone number with OFFICE this
will help connect you with the automated security
system and allowing you to call in your visitors with
ease. THE AUTOMATED NUMBER IS 992-8144.
Visitors, Workers entering Citrus Park are time
stamped - entry, checked at the gate as well as the
workers license and insurance. All visitors, repair
company’s, lawn contract people, expected at your
residences are granted entry if called in to the
automated line. ( Again, medical is the exception)
NO CALL<> NO ENTRY - if we try to call you and
cannot reach you they will be turned away, your
phone number at security must be the phone
registered.Our automated line is for your convenience
as well as the arriving guest. You can call from any
phone number : to use your registered number and
code when calling in your guest.
RESIDENT LANE - If you have to back up after
entering the resident lane, check your back window to
be sure it is up..your speed sometimes helps, you may
want to STOP at the sign enter the lane slower...to give
the reader a chance to “see” your barcode..

Podiatry Services
Nancy Russell has recently joined Dr Pham and
Dr Swift (Podiatrists) owners of Florida Regional Foot
and Ankle Specialists as Director of Operations.
The Doctors will be opening their new office in
Bonita Springs.
Nancy has provided Wellness BP clinics to our
community for several years. Podiatry clinics will
continue at our park at lease once a month so watch
for sign up sheets posting dates and times. During the
podiatry clinics Nancy will be happy to do your BP as
time permits.

Citrus Park Storage Compound
The electronic keypad has been hit more than once
with lightning this summer causing the gate to remain
inoperable. Because of this costly, continuing
problem, we have purchased a totally new system that
will require a REMOTE to open the gate for entry.
The cost of each remote will be $40.00. This will be
refunded whenever you no longer need storage usage.
All storage users must check with Bill Farmer or
Larry Thompson upon arriving to purchase their
REMOTE. Much research has been done with other
communities and a remote system seems to be the
most reliable. The compound office will be open every
Wednesday from 8 AM - 10AM starting
Nov 5, 2014. Work days will be during those hours.

Mardi Gras Pancake Breakfast- Saturday, January 10th – Clubhouse 8:00am

9:30am. To eliminate confusion please enter from Tarocco to Redblush. Parking will be limited on Parade Day so please do not

This year in January we will have 3 openings. We need board members to serve this community that
have and can assist with computer skills, people skills and business practically. There are 2 training
sessions held each year one in the fall and another in the spring, it is a great learning experience.
If you love this Park and the paradise we live in, we need you to help us protect it.

Hope you all had a safe trip down and found your units in good condition. If you are new to the park or to your street,
look up your street Director and introduce yourself. The list of street directors is listed on the wall outside of the library
if you need that information.
Thanks to the Citrus Park administration for the improvements to the park and all the preparations made for us
returning Snow Angels. Thanks, too, to Citrus Online for keeping all us Northerners update on park activities and
enabling us to keep up with the losses of some of our friends and neighbors. It is so helpful to us. (If you have not joined
this internet site, we urge to do so if you have a computer.)

Citrus Park Woodcarvers
Shuffleboard
Beginning January 8, 2015 and running until the end
of the season, the Citrus Park Woodcarving Group will
meet every Thursday afternoon from 1:00 PM to 3:00
PM at the Chiki Hut. We welcome both men and
women the opportunity to hone their skills with other
members. If you are interested in learning to carve or
are an experienced woodcarver, we invite you to come
join us. There are no dues for this group and a lot of
knowledge to be gained. Spectators are also welcome,
just stop by the Chiki Hut on any Thursday afternoon.

The Belles of Harmony are excited about the start of a
new season! Our first practice will be Monday Nov. 10

The Citrus Park Holiday Craft Show will be held at the
Clubhouse on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 8:00AM
to 1:00 PM.
The few tables that are left and are going on a fist come
first served basis with a $5.00 per table charge (due at
registration). The table fees are for advertising this event
in the Banner. The newspaper advertising is
supplemented by notices posted at various resident
communities in the area which helps to bring more
customers to the show.
Only CP residents can display at this show, and all items
are to be handcrafted by residents.

Mixed Chorus
Welcome back Citrus Park Chorus members.
Also to persons who wish to become chorus members.
We will have several events for the 2015 season.
There will be the participation of several groups involved
in the Christmas Eve concert which is enjoyed by all.
Also coming up in January and February will be the
pancake breakfast with the Patanque group on January
24th and our annual Chinese Auction taking place on
February 14th. And lets not forget the spring concert
which will take place on March 8th.Wishing everyone a

Citrus Park Shuffleboard club will officially begin on
Monday, November 3, 2014, at 9:00 A.M. Please come
8:45A.M. because of announcements and drawing.
All are welcome! We would like to encourage those who
are interested in meeting and making new friends.
This is the game that is a lot of fun. There is always
members that are willing to help those who want to learn
the game.On Monday’s we draw for a partner and on
Wednesday’s we draw for singles. There are shuffle sticks
available in the library, behind the door. There will be a
Sunday afternoon fun shuffle.
More information will be provided later.
There will be a 50/50 sale New Year’s Eve at the club
house. It can be worth your while. Your support is always
appreciated.On Saturday, January 10, 2015 there will be a
dance at the club house. It will feature Joe Turner.
Dance tickets sold in advance is $5.00 per person.
Club members will be selling tickets. The cost will be
$7.00 at the door. Group sitting of 6 or more can be
reserved. Tickets go on sale December 1, 2014.
Get your tickets early, this was a very popular event last
year and it will be again this time.
There is a membership charge of $15.00, which includes
the end of the season banquet dinner, park tournaments,
and pizza party if possible. Please consider coming to
play shuffle.
It is a great game and a chance to make new friends.
Gray Nineties
Gray Nineties first meeting Thursday Nov. 6 at 4:30 p.m.

Jan Kresin has created a musical production for the Gray
Nineties this season which will be performed March
14 and 15, 2015. “Down Memory Lane - A Musical”
highlights song and dance over the decades. “Bring Him
Home”, “Heartbreak Hotel”, “Hey Jude”, “Try to Remember”, waltz, jitterbug, disco and the stroll are all featured
in this musical journey.
Everyone interested in production, costumes, decorating,
singing and dancing is invited to the first monthly
meeting and rehearsal being held November 6, 4:30 p.m.
at the Clubhouse. Rehearsals will continue each Thursday
and alternate Sundays until show time.
Jan has the music and schedules ready.
Her enthusiasm is contagious.

Sunday meetings are the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month
at 1:00pm in the Clubhouse (this is subject to change.)
For the past several years the Computer Club has had
classes from January through March.
Until 2012 the attendance was excellent. In 2013 the
number of people attending dropped off.
However, we have received positive feedback that
interest is renewed. We will resume classes each
Wednesday in the Rec Hall at 9
am beginning January 7, 2015
If you are going to get a new computer rather than letting
the computer store set it up for $100, We can do it for a
small donation which will go to purchase computers for
deserving children.

Benefits of Eating Well
Eating well is vital for everyone at all ages. Whatever your age, your daily food choices can make an important difference
in your health and in how you look and feel.
Eating Well Promotes Health
Eating a well-planned, balanced mix of foods every day has many health benefits. For instance, eating well may reduce
the risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, bone loss, some kinds of cancer, and anemia. If you already have one or
more of these chronic diseases, eating well and being physically active may help you better manage them. Healthy eating

Eating well gives you the nutrients needed to keep your muscles, bones, organs, and other parts of your body healthy
throughout your life. These nutrients include vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrates, fats, and water.
Eating Well Promotes Energy
Eating well helps keep up your energy level, too. By consuming enough calories -- a way to measure the energy you get
from food --you give your body the fuel it needs throughout the day. The number of calories needed depends on how
old you are, whether you’re a man or woman, your height and weight, and how active you are.
Food Choices Can Affect Weight
Consuming the right number of calories for your level of physical activity helps you control your weight, too. Extra
weight is a concern for older adults because it can increase the risk for diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart
disease and can increase joint problems. Eating more calories than your body needs for your activity level will lead to
extra pounds.
If you become less physically active as you age, you will probably need fewer calories to stay at the same weight.
Choosing mostly nutrient-dense foods -- foods which have a lot of nutrients but relatively few calories -- can give you
the nutrients you need while keeping down calorie intake.
Food Choices Affect Digestion
Your food choices also affect your digestion. For instance, not getting enough fiber or fluids may cause constipation.
Eating more whole-grain foods with fiber, fruits and vegetables or drinking more water may help with constipation.
Make One Change at a Time
Eating well isn’t just a “diet” or “program” that’s here today and gone tomorrow. It is part of a healthy lifestyle that you
can adopt now and stay with in the years to come.
To eat healthier, you can begin by taking small steps, making one change at a time. For instance, you might
- take the salt shaker off your table. Decreasing your salt intake slowly will allow you to adjust.
- switch to whole-grain bread, seafood, or more vegetables and fruits when you shop.
These changes may be easier than you think. They’re possible even if you need help with shopping or cooking, or if you
have a limited budget.
Checking With Your Doctor
If you have a specific medical condition, be sure to check
with your doctor or registered dietitian about foods you
should include or avoid.
You Can Start Today
Whatever your age, you can start making positive lifestyle
changes today. Eating well can help you stay healthy and
independent -- and look and feel good -- in the years to come.
