Does any one remember FRESHMAN DAY in 1941? Of course
you recall we were the freshest littl e snobs that had .been in B.C.S. for
several years. · 'J'here \Vere hv enty in number and of course one of
us, in fact Cad French, had to show his superiority by rec eiving a b eat~
ing by the Senior class of that year. You see h e talked when he \vas
supposed to listen. But don 't we aU?
'J'h en there was the un eventful Sophomor e year. Really nothing
much happened excep t that \V e continued to spend our time grueling
\vith a history book about the b ehavior of the Greeks. Maybe we \Ner e
a lot like them. 'l'hat must have been why Mrs. Carson thought them
so everlastingl~r important.
Next ,:vas the Junior yea r and all the things that had never mattered
to us seemed to avvaken in our thoughts. Probably that vvas clue to
the pressure put on us by the Senior class of ' 4·4 . \ Ve looked up to
them seeing ourselves in their shoes the follo,:v ing year and here vve
are although it isn' t as exc iting as we at first thought. It was during
our Junior year that we sponsored a ve ry successful Bond Ra.Uy. We
help ed the \Nar loan by raising $1000 .00.

Now we are Seniors and we carry an English book with us everywhere. \Ve eat, sleep, and talk English. For some r eason \Ve. have
to pass it in order to r eceive a little certificate that exempts us from
schoo l. vVe are still trying to figure out why English is so important. ·
Maybe Mt'S. l\l[ayham could let us in on the secret aHhough we are supposed to be pretty' dumb. \ Ve received our long-hoped for rings the
fir st clay of school. \Ve Lhought they were the prettiest rings that
any class ever had. \V e raised enough money by g ifts, a bingo party,
and a square dance to go on a Leip on Eastet' vacation. vVe went to
Albany and did \Ve have fun! \Ve \N ere all relieYecl wh en graduation
was over and vve \Nere free .

Have you ever been to a elude ranch? \Vell, let your mind wander
to the elude ranch of Ellie's and Willard 's. It is the quietest spot in the
world . Of course, it l~as to be quiet \vith Ellie there. Ellie decided
that Willard and she cou 1 cl not make much if they raised hogs on the
Trout Lake Farm; therefore she started a elude ranch.
Let's sit in the lobby and watch what happens. Here comes a
guest. \Vell, can you beat it, it' s Jean Monroe . She is a school
teacher in B.C.S. now. She g·ave up that boy in Lake George because
she felt that her heart bled for the poor students in school. 'l'he boys'
finger.s bleed from needle pricks. Jean, a Home J~conomics teacher,
believes that every man should he able to mend socks.
See that switch hoard operator that just came in. She looks familiar, doesn't she? Why, of course, it's Alice Raymore . 'l'elephone
operators always have to he able to chew gum and tell gossip. Alice
sure meets those qualifications. If you want to know the latest happenings of the town, just call the switchboard operator at the " Quietest
Spot in the ·world Dude Ranch" and she \Vill tell all she knO\vs (which
is plenty).
Remember Jean Bentley? I just heard that she was the desk clerk.
She always was pretty good at making bookkeeping hooks balance,
even if the ways she used weren't exactly right. vVhen \Ve were
in school Jean always did come in like a flash and here she comes now.
Here comes the riding master; I can tell that by the riding breeches.
(Confidentially, it looks like a moving ham door). Pete Putnam, the
riding master, told a reporter in an interview, that he felt horseback
riding vvas an ideal sport \vhich would keep one's figure slim and neat.
One of the lobby chairs must he broken because here comes a
handyman and carpentet• to fix it. It is Albert Robinson, of all people! Albert ahvays was pretty good at tinkering with things he didn' t
know much about. If you need your car fixed, call on Albert as he
is also quite a mechanic.
Remember that Barbara Duell who was in om· class? She used to
spend most of her time in the typing room, didn' t sh e ? Well , now she
spends all her time typing and she even carries her typewriter vvith
her. Believe it ot· not, she has finally reached the stage \Vher e she can
type all of 25 net words per minute. She is pretty good at telling
scandals; so, consequently when she comes in to type the elude ranch
menus, she adds plenty to Alice 's gossip.
Every elude ranch has to have a sports director, and at this ranch,
it is Art Ba' clwin. Do you recall Baldy? He always did like to show
oil' his athletic ab ility. Now he instructs people how to play ping pong,
badminton, and other such sports . Art has to be cai'eful that the women don ' t hit him ·with the paddle instead of liitting the ping pong
ball. He hasn' t changed his ways from what they vvere in school.
Oh clear, h er e is ·a late rising guest coming. It is the former Virginia Mo r'ehouse; she always was late, wasn't she? Now sh e is mar I'i ecl to a rich man and spends most of her time ( '<vhen not in heel)
ti'y ing on beautiful sweater s. 'rhat girl just loves sweater s. ·
Here comes the waitress . It's Ml's. 'rruax, the fol'mer Dol'is Coon .
.Must be she continued her job as waitress at that Glens Falls restaurant
and b ecame a professional. Bobby, that sailor has come home from the
Navy, hut he still wo l'ks in the ship yards. His son delights in his
fath er' 's stOI'ies of the sea. Consequently, he , in a sail or suit, tags his
mother alf around and begs her to let him join the Navy.
Can't he the breakfast suited Virginia because here comes the chef
in pel'son . It's John Hal'rington (LaLa). Remember that when John
took Home Ec. he made the most deli cious fudge? John said at that
time, " Ii' I can make fudge that's fit to eat, I ought to be ab le to cook
othel' foods. " rl'he result was that J ohn is a professional cook and hates
to have anyone find fault with his food. He always was a little "touchy".
'rhus we have the l'oll call of th e Senio l' Class of 1945. vVe will
leave them now to have a reunion lil\e they u sed to have, \Vhen they
\Vel'e· in school.

Onc e again th e basketb all team of Bolton Central School showed its
ability on th e coud by taking· runner-up spot in the Adirondack League
Besides takin g runne r-up spot in th e league , the Orange and Black of
Bolton took f1rst place in th e league "P!ayoff", which was played between the f11'St four teams in the leagu e. For these achievements the
Bolton squad received two trophies, which are shown above in the picture. 'l'his task was achieved und er the supervision of Principal
Joseph Keenan and Sidney Bes\vick. Dur~ng our season we won a total
of f11t een games and lost only two, which is not a bad record.
A great aiel to our cause \Vas the spirit which was shown by the
school and by the public. Besides th e spirit shown by the public there
was also extrem e spodsmanship shown by each m ember of the t eam .
Th e cheers coming from the cheerleaders on the sideline acted as a
bac kbone for th e team, because of th e support which they gave the
team .
