An Extreme Christmas
Makeover
By Jeff Wilson (Lead Pastor)
We have all seen Makeover Shows on television.
They take some poor woman, give her an old
pair of glasses, put some frumpy clothes on her,
talk about her difficult life and mess up her hair
a little. Then they transform her by taking away
her old clothes, applying makeup, doing her hair
and giving her $5,000.00 to purchase some new
clothes. Presto! She’s a brand new woman! She
is ready to face the business world, build new
friendships and act like she’s got it all together. If
only life were that easy! Or is it?
I also love watching the television show “Extreme
Makeover Home Addition”. They take a family
that is down and out and lives in a dilapidated
house. This family has no money to do anything
and they are on the brink of not knowing where to
go next. In their desperate situation, the Extreme
Makeover team arrives. The Extreme Makeover
team sees potential in their house and property
and they have the knowhow to make the “dream
house” come to fruition. They also have the
money to pay for everything.
That’s a lot like Christmas. Jesus came to tap
into the potential in you. Christmas is about
the love of God. He loved you so much that He
sent His Son into the world. He didn’t send
Him to condemn you, but to give you hope, life
abundantly, a future, and to bring you back into
relationship with Him through His Son.
Maybe you’re like that family, waiting for that
extreme makeover. You don’t know how you’re
going to take your next step this Christmas, and
you have given up on yourself and your future.
This Christmas God wants you to know that He
has already sent someone into the world that has
provided a future and a hope for you. God sees
the possibilities that you and I can’t see.
Check out this great passage in scripture,
from Jeremiah 18:1-6:
18
The word which came to Jeremiah from
the Lord, saying: 2 “Arise and go down to
the potter’s house, and there I will cause
you to hear My words.” 3 Then I went down
to the potter’s house, and there he was,
making something at the wheel. 4 And the
P age 2 - C orn e rst o n e C o n n e c t i o n s
vessel that he made of clay was marred in
the hand of the potter; so he made it again
into another vessel, as
it seemed good to the
potter to make. 5 Then
the word of the
Lord
came to me, saying:
“O house of Israel,
can I not do with you
as this potter?” says
the Lord. “Look,
6 as the clay is in the
potter’s hand, so are
you in
My hand, O house of Israel!
Christ is the potter and knows exactly what you
need. He knows everything about you. He can
look at your situation and provide all that is
needed. He is the greatest architect that has ever
lived.
This Christmas He wants you to discover the
“plans He has for you.” Where vision seems to be
lost, Jesus steps in and provides new sight. “He
gives sight to the blind”. He wants His word to
come alive and wants you to discover all that He
has made you to be.
Do you know the great plans He has for your
life? God does what you and I can’t do. He brings
freedom to the captive and deliverance to those
caught up in chains. He forgives your sins and
heals all your diseases.
Just as the Extreme Makeover team came in and
paid for whatever needed to be done, so does our
God. Ty Pennington comes in with his builders,
they do a fabulous job and then they tell you the
house is paid in full. Go live your life. “For God
did not send His Son into the world to condemn
the world, but that the world through Him might
be saved.” John 3:17
What a Christmas gift for you! Someone who
sees your potential, possesses the knowhow for
what needs to be done, and has the ability to pay
for all that needs to be accomplished. Thank God
for this indescribable gift!

Magnificent is He
Glory shone upon the earth,
On that blessed day.
Miraculous was the birth
Of Truth, the Life, the Way.
Christ Jesus, the babe’s sweet
name.
A gift from God above.
As Isaiah said, Christ came,
To lavish us in love.
Holy, High Priest, Royal is He.
Christ the King of all.
Came to set the captive free.
Unto us doth call.
Trumpets sound and angels sing.
Magnificent is He !
Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
Our gift eternally.
