EHS wrestling team has successful season
by Shelley Gillespie
Esterhazy High School
(EHS) Warriors Wrestling
Club enjoyed a very successful season during the
2015-2016 school year, including an award for the
Saskatchewan Amateur
Wrestling
Association
(SAWA) 2016 Provincial
Bantam Female Team
Champions
and
the
SAWA Female Bantam
Wrestler of the Year.
Wrestlers in the Bantam category are in Grade
7-8, and all wrestlers
competed in freestyle
wrestling.
Kiara
Wiechert, Grade 8 student at EHS, was
awarded the Female Bantam Wrestler of the Year,
and was also on the team
awarded the Bantam Female Team Championship whose members
included Wiechert, Natalie Newton, Grade 8,
Dawson Jepson, Grade 8
and Sara Lajeunesse,
Grade 7.
There are approxi-
mately 20 wrestlers that
are members of the
wrestling club, according
to head coach Kara Deshaies, and almost half of
the athletes are female.
Twelve members of the
team traveled to Weyburn
for the SAWA Provincial
Championship Tournament on April 9, and in
addition to the two previously mentioned awards,
the team came home with
four gold, three silver and
one bronze medal.
“All of the wrestlers
that competed were up
against approximately
25 other athletes, so
they had to work hard to
place at the provincials,”
Deshaies said. “I have
been the head coach in
Esterhazy for five years,
and members include
students from Grade 612. One of the things I
like most about the club
is that the older kids are
so good with the younger
members. We are like a
family.”
All four members of
the Female Bantam
team also received gold
medals competing individually. Torie Patterson,
Grade 7, Kaitlyn Nordal,
Grade 8 and Zach Gehl,
Grade 9, all were
awarded silver for their
individual efforts, and
Kayden Duchek, Grade
6, received a bronze at
the provincial meet in
Weyburn.
Three of the club
members also qualified
to compete in the Canadian Amateur Wrestling
Association (CAWA) National competition held
in Calgary April 14-16.
Zach Gehl, Perry Erhardt, Grade 12, and
Surafel (Surfie) Ferguson were there for the official
weigh-in
on
Thursday, participated
in their various competitions on Friday and Saturday, and traveled
home on April 17. While

did not place at this
event, qualifying for the
event itself is an accomplishment.
During the total 20152016 season, the club
members amassed 13
gold medals, nine silver,
and eight bronze, as well
as many fourth and fifth
place finishes. They competed in Weyburn, Warman, Swift Current,
Moose Jaw, Prince Albert
and Saskatoon.
EHS Wrestling Club
meets on Tuesday and
Thursday each week for a
season that is approximately five to six months
long. In addition to being
the head coach for the
wrestling club, Deshaies
teaches art and home
economics, as well as an
art class in the evenings.
Ryan Gehl is the assistant coach, and has been
a huge asset to the club,
according to Deshaies.
“The first year I was
here we had less than 10
members,” Deshaies said.
“The second year I believe we had eight. The
fifth season has just
ended, and we had about
20 athletes in the club,
and I am satisfied with
the growth. I am expecting even more students
to sign up next year.
Small teams have to
work harder to compete
against the larger communities, and every
wrestler that we have
makes a difference. We
are very fortunate that
the community supports
us so well. ”
Esterhazy Warriors Wrestling Club consisting of:
Back Row (l-r): Ryan Gehl (Assistant Coach),
Aydon Brooks, Tyler Carriere, Perry Erhardt
James Lagler, Zach Gehl, Kaitlyn Nordal and
Kara Deshaies (Head Coach).
Middle Row: Rob Huckell, Dawson Jepson,

Front Row: Kayden Duchek, Sarah Thompson,
Sara Lajuenesse, Kiara Wiechert, Torie Patterson
and Jacie Lagler.

Wrestling Club fundraising
for new equipment
by Glorianne Kada
The
high
school
wrestling club is raising
money to buy a new
wrestling mat.
A meat raffle will be
held at the Esterhazy
Motor Bar on April 29 at 6
p.m. The fundraiser is
hosted by the booster parents club, a group of parents of wrestlers on the
Esterhazy High School
Wrestling Club.
Tyler Carriere wrestles
with the club. He is in
Grade 9 and has been in
wrestling since grade 6
when he moved to Esterhazy with his mom from
Flin Flon, Man. Tyler also
plays football and works
part time at a local grocery store.
Tyler’s mom, Corrine
Carriere-Chaisson, has
came up with the idea to
fundraise for the club
with a meat raffle draw
from Flin Flon.
“There are meat draws
all the time back home, for
people who are sick or
have experienced a house
fire, or for general
fundraisers for the school.
Most people from around
here haven’t heard of a
meat draw,” Corrine explains. There will be four
to five raffles for draws
such as chicken breasts
and a bag of potatoes,
pork chops and corn on
the cob, or a beef roast.
Big Way Foods has donated all of the meat and
produce
for
the
fundraiser. There will also
be a 50/50 draw. Tickets
for the raffle will be sold
at the event and people
will have to be present to
participate in the raffle.
Parents have been actively fundraising for the
wrestling club in order to
raise enough money to
buy a new wrestling mat.
The mat the club is cur-
rently using is quite old
and well used. The cost for
a new mat starts at approximately
$10,000.
Other fundraisers held
throughout this school
year include a hot lunch
and a bake sale.
“All the wrestling parents are like a family,”
says Corrine. They see
each other on a regular
basis when they pick up
their children from practice or they go to events
together. Everyone chips
in to help with fundraising.
“This is the first meat
fundraiser held for the
club. Hopefully it catches
on in Esterhazy,” says
Corrine.
As the wrestling season
is coming to an end in the
middle of April, the club
hopes to keep fundraising
going in the off season.

April 24 to 30, 2016
CROSSWORDS
The luckiest signs this week:
Aries, Taurus and Gemini.
ARIES
You might decide to go on a trip at the last minute. You need
this break in order to sort out your ideas and make a difficult
decision.
TAURUS
You may decide to make a few changes within your circle of
friends. Fortunately, some of them should finally be able to
pay back what they owe you.
GEMINI
You might have to check one of your bills in order to find a
mistake that has been made. You end up devoting a good part
of the week to ensuring that the matter is put right.
CANCER
You finally receive the right health treatment, or you start a
new diet that suits you and shows some quick results.
LEO
You’re suddenly quite popular with your friends. If you’re single, you’re surprised to find that your suitors are competing
with each other in imaginative ways to win you over.
VIRGO
Your family takes centre stage in your life this week, as your
loved ones are rather demanding. Some projects related to
moving will take shape in the not-too-distant future.
LIBRA
Comings and goings could get complicated, or communications
won’t always be very clear. Your outspokenness has a powerful impact on your entourage.
SCORPIO
Sometimes money is a source of concern. Don’t hesitate to take
the bull by the horns and negotiate with the people concerned
in order to solve your financial problems.
SAGITTARIUS
Everything needs to get done — by yesterday. You won’t even
know where to begin tackling things. Just slow down a bit; focus
your energies and take things one step at a time.
CAPRICORN
You might have to replace a colleague who is going to be absent for an indefinite period of time. This might be stressful, but
you’ll benefit from the situation eventually.

ANSWER TO LAST WEEK’S PUZZLE
HOW TO PLAY :
Fill in the grid so that every row,
every column, and every 3x3 box
contains the numbers 1 through 9
only once.
Each 3x3 box is outlined with a
darker line. You already have a
few numbers to get you started.
Remember: You must not repeat
the numbers 1 through 9 in the
same line, column, or 3x3 box.
AQUARIUS
You receive some applause after addressing a large crowd. On
the other hand, a few people will have the nerve to criticize
you. Just remember who you are despite what you hear.

SPORTS TALK
- by Bruce Penton
Brenda
Matchett
In our home growing up, the first card game we were all taught wasn’t Go Fish or Old
Maid. No . . . it was Cribbage.
Many a night our family would sit around the cribbage board for hours, my father
determined to prove that he was “The Champ” as he had self-proclaimed himself to be. The
laughter and the bonding is one of my many favorite memories of my parents. How I long
for one more night of cribbage with my father. I’d even let him double skunk me to see that
teasing smile cross his face when he’d say... “Well, you got double skunked kid! Another
game?”. Or when he would call muggins if I forgot a point (usually was the one for the jack)
and the famous deep chuckle he would give when you ended up with yet another 19 hand...
or in layman’s terms, zero. Not so funny though when he was the one who was sitting behind the skunk line holding a 19 hand and I was holding a mitt-full of fives.
According to Wikipedia, cribbage, is a card game created in the early 17th century, as a
derivation of the game ‘noddy’. While noddy has disappeared, crib has survived, virtually
unchanged, as one of the most popular games in the English-speaking world. The objective
of the game is to be the first player to score a target number of points, typically 61 or 121
scored on a cribbage board. Points are scored for card combinations that add up to fifteen,
and for pairs, triples, quadruples, runs and flushes.
Some may say the game is based entirely on the luck of the draw, however, my father
always scoffed at that idea, stating that he could have only two points in his hand, but could
still out peg every one of us that round. Fact is, most times, he was right. He’d play me into
runs, pairs, and as I started playing my cards, he was always good at reading my facial expression and determining what I was still holding in my hand. Cribbage was a cut-throat
game with ‘The Champ’ and the winner would receive bragging rights – at least until the
next game. :)
Congratulations to Jack, Leroy, Pat and Reg on another first place win.
Another win in cribbage
Esterhazy Royal Canadian Legion Branch #249 won first place in
the Provincial Open Team Cribbage Competition held on March 1820 in Humboldt, Sask. This same team accomplished the feat in Swift
Current in 2014. Congratulations! (L-R) Jack Martin, Leroy Anderson, Pat Matyas and Reg Knezacek.
We now know when to expect a provincial budget – June
1 or more than two months after it is normally presented
in the Saskatchewan legislature.
However, we don’t know “what” to expect in a tough
2016-17 budget in which the downturn in oil and the overall Saskatchewan economy appears to have caught up with
us.
Judging by some hints Premier Brad Wall has already
dropped, it may be that we really don’t want to know.
Something is about to give – something we are about to
find out two months later than we normally do and not
until after the provincial election.
To the credit of Premier Brad Wall and company, where
they have often demonstrated skills is the not-so-easy task
of keeping operational spending in line.
Admittedly, there are those who would argue this has
not necessarily always been the case.
The Saskatchewan Party government’s first budget was
chockfull of overspending – both in capital spending and
operational spending.
Most significant was the 36-per-cent-plus four-year settlement given to nurses, which set a precedent for all public sector spending and drove up the expense side of the
ledger as quickly as the revenue side of the ledger was increasing at the time.
The problem, however, was that revenues did not remain
high because what was once $140 US a barrel oil is now
$40 US a barrel.
By contrast, government spending – even when you take
into account the flexibility of supposed one-time capital investments – remain with us and is much harder to reduce.
But under former finance minister Ken Krawetz in particular, the government proved to be rather good at keep-

Weir limping to
golf career’s finish line
Mike Weir is not aging gracefully on the PGA Tour.
The most accomplished professional golfer in Canadian history – his major title at the
2003 Masters’ trumps any argument you might want to put forth – is limping to the finish line of his career as he tries to keep sharp in preparation for the 50-and-over Champions Tour.
Currently eligible on the regular Tour due to some major and minor medical exemptions, Weir had 2016 starts in eight tournaments guaranteed – and more if he won a certain amount of money.
That hasn’t come close to happening. Weir, who grew up in Sarnia, Ont., but now lives
in Utah and doesn’t contribute much to the growth of Canadian golf these days, is teeing it up Thursday and Fridays, but having no success.
In fact, in his last 21 PGA Tour starts, Weir has had four withdrawals and 17 missed
cuts. His money earnings: Zero.
He hardly needs the money. His heyday on the Tour brought in $28 million U.S. and
he still has enough cachet to cash in on a variety of endorsements.
To date, Weir has used up six of his eight tournament exemptions and needs to have a
couple of high finishes if he hopes to retain his eligibility for the rest of the 2016 season.
He could still play in some minor league web.com tournaments, and will work on his
game as much as possible until he becomes eligible for the no-cut Champions Tour in on
his 50th birthday, May 12, 2020.
Weir has every right to take advantage of the favourable exempt-status rules to enter
as many tournaments as allowed, but the 46-year-old veteran must find it a little embarrassing to miss cut after cut after cut while a young player looking to get his career
started is bumped from play when Weir takes up one of the spots in the field. At the RBC
Heritage the week after the Masters, Weir withdrew after an opening-round 78 and
South African Dawie van der Walt, who was second alternate, was not pleased, tweeting:
“Gota (sic) love a guy who gets an invite into a Tour event and then WD after the first
round,” using the hashtag, “#hangitupmike.”
By rough estimate, Weir has two more tournaments to play before his eligibility expires. Maybe lightning will strike and Weir will relive some golf course magic, but the
likelihood is that after two more weeks of futility, it will another four years before we hear
Weir’s name again.
Norman Chad of the Washington Post, mocking Major League Baseball for its obsession with pitch counts for young players: “Did Dostoyevsky have a word count? Did Rembrandt have a brushstroke count? Did Genghis Khan have a conquered-territory count?”
From Dwight Perry’s Sideline Chatter in the Seattle Times, quoting from USA Today:
“Give-and-take between Bubba Watson and a Masters fan, after Watson sliced a drive
into the trees and tried to address his ball: Watson: ‘Can you back up? You’re really not
supposed to be back here.’ Fan: ‘Neither is your ball.’ Watson: ‘I don’t know about you, but
I have two green jackets. Thanks for coming.’”
NBC late-night host Seth Meyers: “Tomorrow night will be Kobe Bryant’s last NBA
game. He says he's looking forward to retirement and his teammates are looking forward to finding out what the ball feels like.”
Comedy writer Alex Kaseberg: “It has been one day and Kobe Bryant is having problems adjusting to retirement. He was having dinner with his family, family-style, and he
couldn’t pass the peas.”
Brad Rock in the Deseret News: “Toymaker Mattel is out $3M after unwittingly wiring
funds to cyber-thieves in China. Which is not dissimilar to the Nets paying Joe Johnson
$25M for this season.”
Greg Cote of the Miami Herald, on Ernie Els’ putting woes at the Masters: “Ernie Els
six-putted the first green at The Masters. There’s a phrase for that in golf: ‘Greg Cote.’”
Comic Torben Rolfsen, on the cruelty of sports: “One hour Jordan Spieth is the new
Tiger Woods; the next he’s Jean van de Velde.”
RJ Currie of sportsdeke.com: “The Panthers got two delay-of-game penalties when fans
tossed dozens of plastic rats on the ice. In the old days teams drew penalties by throwing Ken Linseman on the ice.”
Another one from Kaseberg: “Johnny ‘Football’ Manziel’s agent has dumped him. It’s
bad, he is now officially Johnny ‘Starbucks Barista’ Manziel.”
Janice Hough, of leftcoastsportsbabe.com: “In the NFL, Oakland and San Francisco
may combine to honour Golden State (and their 73 wins): this year’s Raiders are likely
to win 7 games, while the 49ers are likely to win 3.”
Dwight Perry of the Seattle Times: “If corpulent Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval were a car, he’d be in the shop getting: a) heavier suspension springs; b) a gas-tank
reduction; c) a belt replaced.”

Saskatchewan
Legislature
Budget costs big
challenge
ing operational costs in line within the budget year. That
included health spending, that somehow always seemed to
explode within the budget year under old NDP government.
In fact, short of the unexpected costs like fire and flooding, the Sask. Party has been very good at meeting the
budget goals it set out.
What it hasn’t been very good at, however, is keeping the
budget at the same level year after year.
And keeping the 2016-17 budget close to last year’s
$14.3 billion – a budget that contained an admitted $427million deficit plus $700-million on capital borrowing the
government doesn’t much talk about – will be a tough job.
The Miner-Journal, Esterhazy, Sask.
The challenge for the Wall government begins with the
reality that it was elected on continuing to provide services
and not cut services that the public saw as a priority.
Included in that is specific promises to rural folk like an
extra $70 million to fix the roads.
Further complicating his situation is Wall’s recent commitment to increase spending to health ($5.6 billion) education ($3.6 billion) and social services ($1.2 billion).
That totals $10.4 billion plus the promised modest increases, leaving the government to find the savings in the
remaining $4 billion of spending.
Included in that $4 billion is highways spending (that
Sask. Party platform said it would increase) and municipal
government (where rural and urban communities have
been told they will still get their full share of the revenue
sharing pool).
Moreover, Wall also said recently his government won’t
raise taxes and plans to keep the deficit at less than last
year’s $427 million.
That leaves precious little wiggle room for his government that must look at other critical ministries as potential candidates for cuts.
Among those ministries most likely to feel the axe in the
June 1 budget are ones critical to rural Saskatchewan.
That would include agriculture, environment and natural
resources and economic development.
Also, while Wall might say there will be increases in
health education that doesn’t mean rural and smaller city
hospitals or rural school boards aren’t about the feel the
pinch.
Cost cuts will not come easy.

Immunize for a Healthy Future
Vaccinations have been
saving lives for more than
two centuries and are generally considered the most
successful public health
intervention ever devised.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates
that vaccines prevent
more than two million
deaths worldwide every
year. Immunization prevents many communicable diseases.
There have been a number of recent measles outbreaks in Canada. Many
of these outbreaks are
linked to a decrease in the
number of children receiving vaccinations. Measles
is a highly contagious
virus that is spread
through the air. The
measles virus is so contagious that if one person
has it, 90 percent of the
people near that person,
who are not immune, will
also become infected. One
in 10 people with measles
develops
pneumonia
and/or ear infections. One
in 10,000 people experiences an infection of the
brain called encephalitis.
One in 3,000 people who
contracts measles will die.
Available information
that is based in theory
and not evidence has led
to a significant amount of
unwarranted worry about
vaccine safety among parents. Theory-based information is not based on
facts or credible research
evidence. This type of information has led to
myths surrounding the
risk of immunizations. As
a result, some parents are
hesitant to immunize
their children, delay vaccinations, or refuse vaccinations.
The Saskatchewan Prevention Institute encourages parents to use
evidence-based information to learn about vaccine
safety and effectiveness.
Evidence-based information is supported by conclusive research data.
Health care professionals
make decisions and recommendations based on
valid evidence-based information that has been
repeatedly tested by researchers with expertise
in the field. Evidence does
not support any link between vaccines and diseases such as autism,
multiple sclerosis, and
sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Parents
can receive evidence-

April 19-26 is National
Immunization
Week.
Canadian children are immunized against 13 preventable diseases. These
immunizations are safe
and free of charge. They
effectively protect children from common communicable diseases like
tetanus, whooping cough,
and measles. Before a
child is two years old, he
or she should have had
five immunization appointments. To check
Saskatchewan’s recommended
immunization
schedule,
go
to
www.health.gov.sk/immunization.schedule.
Before becoming pregnant, women should be up
to date on all vaccinations. A mother’s immunity is passed to her baby
during pregnancy to provide protection until the
baby can be vaccinated according
to
the
Saskatchewan vaccination schedule. Women
should be aware of guidelines on vaccinations
needed before, during, and
after pregnancy. The best
way to stay protected is to

Esterhazy Flyer’s 2015-2016 Awards Night
The Esterhazy Senior Flyer’s held an
Awards and Banquet Night on April 16
at the Esterhazy Legion.
Emcee, Don Halyk, started the evening
by introducing the players, and thanking
the workers and the fans and by saying
it was great to have senior hockey back
after a year without a Flyer team. Mayor
Pauline Chewka spoke some nice words
on behalf of the Town of Esterhazy. Dennis Blum talked a bit how things were
done to organize a Flyer team. Coach Jeff
Nordquist thanked the players for their
commitment to the team. He also talked
about some possible new players.
Nordquist is also looking for help with
the coaching duties and is looking to ice
a good competitive hockey team. A wonderful supper was served and was followed by an evening of socializing.
The Flyer’s are also going to have their
dressing room floor redone as there are
areas where cement is showing and this
is not good for your skates. The approximate cost of this upgrade is $2,500. The
Flyer’s are looking for any donations, big
or small, to get this project done this
summer.
If you have any questions or would like
to make a donation, call Don Halyk at
306-745-6935, Dennis Blum at 306-7458532 or Jeff Nordquist at 306-745-6758
or 306-740-8105 (cell).

Joyce Rowein
1940-2016
Joyce Forst was born
on the family farm north
of Esterhazy on Feb 18,
1940. In 1945, the family
farm was relocated to
the Hazelcliffe area. She
attended
school
in
Hazelcliffe until Grade 8
and graduated from high
school in Esterhazy in
1958. She attended business college in Regina
and was employed by
Beaver Lumber head of-
fice. In 1963, she returned to Esterhazy and
was employed at the
high school as secretary
and typing teacher.
In the winter of 1963,
she met Ed Rowein
when bowling on the
same team. On Aug. 1,
1964, Joyce and Ed were
married. After the birth
of her first child, Joyce
become a stay-at-home
mom. The marriage was
blessed with four children Terry, Scott, Valerie
and Glenda. Joyce took a
great interest in the activities of her family,
their schooling, sports
involvement, etc. and
was often seen driving
the old white station
wagon to and from
school and the many
sports activities her children were involved in.
She especially enjoyed
the involvement with
minor hockey, fastball
and volleyball and rarely
missed a game.
She did a lot of volun-
teer work, helping with
school, community and
church functions and
was a life-time member
of the Catholic Women’s
League. One of her great
pleasures was helping at
the local baby clinics.
Joyce also babysat numerous kids from home
and always had an open
kitchen which was appreciated by family and
their friends alike.
In 1995, Joyce was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease (HD). In
1997, Ed retired to become her full-time caregiver. From 1999 to
2007, Joyce and Ed spent
three months each winter in Arizona. Joyce
loved it there – the warm
weather,
the
many
friends and happy hours.
In 1998, a doctor told
her she would be in a
care home within two or
three years; she defied
those odds. She also beat
breast cancer during
that time, in 2002. In
May 2009, with the progression of HD, she was
admitted to the Esterhazy Care Home, where
she remained until the
time of her passing.
Joyce was pre-deceased by her parents
Jerry and Christina
Forst; brother, Allen; sister-in-law, Marie Forst
and sister-in-law, Shelley
Rowein.
She is survived by her
loving husband Ed; sons:
Terry (Karen) and Scott
(Brenda); daughters: Val
(Greg) Jessalyn and Seth
Shwaga,
Glenda;
brother, Benny (Betty);
Ed’s family: brothers: Joe
(Marcella), Harold (Margaret), Richard (Linda),
and Bill; sisters: Phyllis
(Tony) Sieben, Diane
(Barry) Neufeld, Betty
(Lloyd) Shapka and numerous
nieces
and
nephews.
Donations in her memory may be made to the
Huntington’s Society of
Canada.

Health officials remind residents to
take precautions against hantavirus
Saskatchewan
residents are reminded to
take precautions against
hantavirus,
as
the
weather continues to
warm up and they resume seasonal activities.
People are most often
exposed to hantavirus by
breathing in contaminated airborne particles
from the droppings,
urine and saliva of infected deer mice. Hantavirus infection is rare
but potentially fatal.
Symptoms include fever,
muscle aches, cough,
headaches, nausea and
vomiting.
“Initial symptoms can
quickly develop into a
very severe and often
fatal lung disease called
hantavirus pulmonary
s y n d r o m e , ”
Saskatchewan’s Chief
Medical Health Officer
Dr. Saqib Shahab said.
“Seek urgent medical attention if you develop a
fever, coughing and
shortness of breath
within one to six weeks
of exposure to potentially infested areas.”
People can come in
contact with hantavirus
when cleaning out enclosed or poorly ventilated buildings (such as
grain bins, sheds, barns,
garages, trailers, cottages and homes) that
have had mouse infestations. Exposure can also
occur when cleaning
farm equipment such as
combines or vehicles
that have been in storage.
“It is important to take
adequate precautions to
avoid the risk of becoming infected with hantavirus,” Shahab said.
When cleaning rodentinfested areas, people
should:
• Ventilate the building by opening doors and
windows for at least 30
minutes before cleaning;
• Use wet mopping
methods and wear rubber or plastic gloves;
• Wear goggles and a
well-fitting N-95 type filter mask when cleaning
areas contaminated by
droppings in a confined
space;
• Dampen areas contaminated with rodent
droppings with bleach
disinfectant and remove
droppings with a damp
mop or cloth;
• Avoid using dry
cleaning methods such
as dusting, sweeping,
vacuuming or air-hosing;
• Steam clean, shampoo or spray upholstered
furniture with a detergent, disinfectant or a
mixture of bleach and
water; and
• Wash clothes and
bedding with detergent
in hot water.
You can also reduce exposure to hantavirus by:
• Blocking openings
that might allow rodents
to enter a building;
• Storing human and
animal food, water and
garbage in containers
with tightly-fitted lids;
and
• Moving woodpiles or
other potential hiding
places for mice away
from your home.
There have been 30
cases of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome reported in Saskatchewan
from 1994 to 2015, 10 of
which resulted in death.

CARDS OF
THANKS
I just recently spent some
time as a patient in St. Anthony’s Hospital in Esterhazy. I would like to thank
the doctors, nurses, aids
and all hospital staff for the
excellent care I received.
Your kind and caring ways
made my stay more pleasant. Also, thank you to
Keith at Sapara’s Drug Mart
for your help at this time.

The family of Joyce
Rowein would like to sincerely thank the many
people who assisted us in
so many ways. To family
and friends for all the
foods, cards, phone calls,
flowers and the generous
donations to the Huntington’s Society and the memorial fund. A special
thanks to all who were involved with the prayer
service and the funeral
mass – the readers, alter
servers, choir and the
parish caterers for the
lunch. A special thanks to
Father Rene for leading
the service. Thanks to
Peter Carscadden Funeral
Service Ltd. for their guidance. And last but not
least, The Centennial Special Care Home staff for
their care of Joyce for the
last seven years. Everyone’s effort and kindness
made this difficult time
easier to bear. Thanks and
God bless you all.
