Faribault Area
Chamber of Commerce and Tourism
The Faribault Chamber has over 100 years of experience helping area businesses reach their goals.
Whether you are a small business or a large corporation the Chamber has tools that can help you connect, advocate, educate and train
your workforce. Chambers are catalysts through which professional people, entrepreneurs, business leaders and employers can work
together for the common good. The entire community benefits from the work and programs supported by Chamber members because
the mission is to promote growth and prosperity of Faribault. Check the Chamber website at www.faribaultmn.org for a full review of the
chamber programs. Here are a few Chamber programs that manufacturer’s find most valuable.
Career and Workforce Development
The Faribault Chamber Career Development effort is dedicated to meeting the future workforce needs of our business community. By
working closely with employers and educators we help bridge the employment gap. This group assists with tours at local businesses,
job shadow experiences, along with work-study and internships that offer employers a pipeline to future employees with practical and
valuable experience. These opportunities offer students real world experiences that will help to shape their future. Tours, career Days,
21st Century Skill building, new teacher welcome and presentations for school staff all build the connection between student, educator
and business. Our Chamber board is working with South Central College representatives, school board members and other area
educators to improve the effectiveness and continuity of these Career Development Programs.
Business Advocacy
The Chamber is the Voice of Business! Chamber members band together to impact decisions made in our community. There is clout
in our unified voice whether representing the needs of one business, or working on behalf of all businesses collectively. The Business
Advocates group meets as needed and is open to all members. The group follows local and regional issues effecting business and
works with the MN Chamber Federation on State legislative issues.
Human Resource Peer Group
This group brings together HR people from small companies, who manage the HR functions by default, with Human Resource
professionals from larger firms with extensive training and experience. In a true peer group fashion, all participants learn from one
another and share best practices. The HR Peer Group meets monthly at the Chamber office. All members are welcome.
Faribault’s Future
Give your employees leadership skills and local knowledge to increase their effectiveness at work and build their community
connections. The practical and challenging leadership development is designed and presented by South Central College. The community
learning comes from program alums that volunteer to arrange tours, panels, and presentation for the class. Class starts annually in
September. Look into signing up for the next class.
GROW Faribault
Our business retention and expansion effort is part of the statewide GROW Minnesota program. Partnering with the Faribault EDA,
volunteers visit businesses throughout the community with three primary goals. First and foremost the purpose is to thank businesses
for employing people and contributing to the local economy. Secondly, to learn about their business goals and assist where we are able.
Third; to identify community and legislative issues affecting business growth in order to provide advocacy support for the business
community. Contact the Chamber to participate as a visitor or to request a visit.
Small Business Development
The Chamber houses the Rice County Small Business Development Center. With support from Rice County, The Faribault EDA and the
Faribault Industrial Corporation, the SBDC provides free confidential counseling to businesses on all business topics including SBA loan
financing. Through the SBDC and our association with SCORE, we can refer small businesses to private counseling or seminars that
match their business issues. Contact the Chamber office or check the Chamber website to
apply for services.
