Massachusetts Youth Pride, May 18
Massachusetts Youth Pride is a
one-day annual festival dedicated
to celebrating LGBT youth in the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The day ends with the BAGLY Prom.

Put a Spring in
Your Step
Massachusetts destinations will put a
spring in your step this season with
memorable vacations for the whole
family. Boston, the Berkshires and
beyond are easy to reach destinations
from Canada. Air Canada operates
17 flights daily into Boston from
Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax and
Montreal, and Porter Airlines whisks
travelers to Boston seven times per
day from Toronto’s downtown airport.
Massachusetts is easily accessible by
car; from Montreal just five hours
(496 km) and from Toronto
approximately eight hours (883 km).
Boston Pride Week, May 31 – June 9
Boston’s Pride Week is a ten-day event
centered around the Pride Parade and
Festival. The week includes a kickoff party, several night club events, a
human rights and education discussion
and a block party.

Cape Cod and the Islands
Carnival 2013 (Provincetown),
August 18 – 24
With the theme this year being
Viva Las Vegas, Carnival, one of
the most popular LGBT events in
Massachusetts, promises to be quite
the party. Costumes, boat cruises, pool
parties and a clambake, are just a few
of the activities in the works.

Busy Season
of Pride Events
Days are getting longer, spring is in
sight, and Massachusetts’ Pride groups
are gearing up for a busy season of
celebrations. From East to West and in
between, events, dances and parades,
are just a few of the opportunities for
the LGBT community to get together
in the coming months.

Music Festival
2013 Announces
Additional Popular
Artist Concerts
American folk singer Joan Baez and
folk rock duo the Indigo Girls have
been added to the 2013 Tanglewood
line-up, with a special concert in
the Shed on Sunday June 23, 2013,
at 2:30 p.m. Also performing this
year will be one of Canada’s favorite
bands Barenaked Ladies, Ben Folds
Five and Guster with support from
Boothby Graffoe. These concerts
are in addition to the previously
announced popular artist concerts,
which include Melissa Etheridge with
special guest Eric Hutchinson (21/6),
Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration
featuring Warren Haynes with the
Boston Pops under the direction of
Keith Lockhart (22/6), Jackson
Browne with special guest Sara
Watkins (4/7), Esperanza Spalding
(4/8), and the Steve Miller Band

This Boston-based couple gave up
conventional transportation when they
felt gas prices became unrealistic in
the 70s, and since then they have been
participating in and leading mountain
and road biking adventures, endurance
rides and even cross-country tours.
They are certified to teach “smart
cycling techniques” and to judge
referee races and they enjoy mapping
roads and trails in the Boston area.

Captain Alan Leibovitz, Atlantic
Charters
Captain Leibovitz built Atlantic
Charters from a single sailboat charter
to a full-service, family-fun sailing
center in Marblehead Harbor. This

self-taught jack-of-all-trades is not just
a captain and businessman, but also a
skilled sailing teacher and mechanic.
His love of the ocean and passion
for sailing have continued to grow
through his entire life.

Nicole Freedman—Director of the
Boston Bikes Program
When it comes to bikes, this former
Olympic cyclist means business.
As the director of the Boston Bikes
Program, Freedman is in charge
of things like bicycle safety and
education, and of infrastructure
improvements for the city. She’s
responsible for the change that has
come over Boston since the program’s
beginning in 2007, from one of the
worst ranked cycling cities in the
country to a nationally-known haven
