has chosen the library as
one of the sites for their
Free Summer Lunch for
Youth program. Beginning June 2, meals will be
served to children ages 0 18, from noon until 1 pm,
Monday - Friday, until
July 25. They will be here
rain or shine. Please call

Returning Discs
When returning DVDs or
CDs in the book drop outside, please make sure
they are securely inside a
protective case. This will
help prevent broken or
scratched discs. If you are
returning a disc without a
case, please bring it inside.

Summer Reading Fun for All Ages
Children’s Summer Reading Program: Fizz, Boom, Read - The Children’s Summer Reading Program is
open to kids age 12 and under babies are included. Sign up starts
June 1, and will remain open
through the end of July. Children
age 4 and under will receive a trophy
after 8 hours of reading, and there
will be a separate prize drawing for
that age group.
There will be events every Thursday
at 2 pm until the end of the
program. See the Children’s Summer
Reading Program brochure for more
details.
Teen Summer Reading Challenge:
Spark a Reaction - The Teen Summer Reading Challenge is open to
anyone entering grades 7 through
12. Beginning June 1, complete any
of the 20 challenges listed in the
Teen Summer Reading Challenge
brochure, and your name will be entered in a prize drawing. Just fill out
a ticket at the Reference Desk when
you complete a challenge. Books,
ebooks, and audiobooks all count!
The grand prize is an iPod Nano.
The drawing will take place on
Thursday, July 31 @ 4 pm.
Adult Summer Reading Program:
Literary Elements - The Adult Summer Reading Program is open to
anyone ages 18-∞ (yes, if you are an
immortal being, you can participate,
too). Beginning June 1, you can
come to the Reference Desk to fill
out a ticket whenever you read a
book (anything over 500 pages or
from the ‘Staff Approved’ display is
worth two tickets!) or read to a child
(2 hours = 1 ticket). Books, ebooks,
and audiobooks all count. The prize
drawing will take place on July 31
@ 4 pm. The grand prize is a Nook
ereader.

What do you do at the Grand Forks
Public Library and how long have you
been working here?
-I work upstairs in the Children's Department and have worked here for just
over a year.
Where are some of your favorite travel
destinations?
-I really haven't been anywhere far, but
I do like Duluth a lot.
What brought you to the Library?
-I grew up in the area, so I came to the
library for years as a patron before ever
working here.
What are some of your favorite Library
titles?
-I like history, so I enjoy a lot of nonfiction and historical fiction. Lately
I've been trying to work my way
through more of the modern classics as
well. I just finished reading The Bell
Jar by Sylvia Plath and really liked
that.
