Ariella
Arida
A tall statuesque beauty, it was no surprise that
Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Ariella Arida
was able to continue the Philippines’ streak
of placing in the Top 5 in the Miss Universe
Pageant. A native of Alaminos, Laguna, this
certified sports lover certainly exemplified
beauty and brains, graduating with honors
from the University of the Philippines with a
degree in Chemistry.
Ariella admitted that she had never imagined
winning Binibining Pilipinas-Universe – being
able to attend events and photo shoots, meeting people that she has only read about and
watched on TV, is one aspect of the crown
that she enjoys. Yet what is most fulfilling
about the title is being able to give back and
help others.
Beauty with a Purpose
“What really inspired me are the relief operations that we were able to do, especially that
time that we went to Capiz to give school supplies to children affected by Typhoon Yolanda.
Winning gave me the chance to do this and it’s
truly a privilege for me,” shared Ariella.
“It’s all about being
confident with who you
are while being happy
with what you have.”
Aside from helping with relief efforts in
Capiz, Ariella has also become involved in
many other charity projects under the Binibing
Pilipinas organization.
“You realize your worth as a person. There’s
a sense of purpose, of why you’re here and
that’s what I really learned this year,” revealed
Ariella.
Ariella’s Summer
Adventure
Now that she has passed on the crown, Ariella
is looking forward to enjoying the outdoors
30
this summer, especially going to the beach.
“I’m a summer-type of girl. I’m not one of
those girls who’s afraid to get tan,” laughed
Ariella.
One of her favorite summer memories was
going island-hopping in Zambales. She enjoyed roughing it with friends as they basked
in the solitude of the virgin islands, exploring
a lighthouse they spotted at a deserted island,
and camping out on the beach. She’s also really
excited to take her first trip to Boracay!
When it comes to adventures in the city, she
likes to hang out at Eastwood Mall, Burgos
Circle at Forbes Town Center and Newport
Mall at Resorts World Manila. She loves to go
bowling at Eastwood City and hanging out at
the different establishments at Eastwood City
Walk. At Burgos Circle, she enjoys eating at
Rue Bourbon with her friends.
Ariella also likes catching late night movies
at Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila,
having coffee at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf,
eating at UCC Café, Mr. Kurosawa (she highly
recommends their salads, tempuras and soup)
and Café Republiq.
As for her plans after the crown, Ariella said
that she was open to whatever opportunities
will come her way. She also wants to use her
knowledge in Chemistry to someday create her
own perfume line.
For Ariella, Living the Good Life is all about
being confident with who you are while being
happy with what you have - a philosophy that
will certainly have her standing tall as she
moves on from the pageant stage and welcomes new adventures in her life.

BEA
RosE
Santiago
“If I can use my words to help others, why not?”
shared Bea during our interview.
It was definitely an apt statement coming from
the Masbate born beauty who studied Communications and majored in Public Relations, someone
whose win gave the country something to cheer
about in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda.
Bea described how three days before she left for
the 2013 Miss International pageant in Tokyo,
she went to Roxas City and there in the Municipal
City Hall, she was overwhelmed by the efforts of
volunteers around her.
“It was full of different organizations from different countries… from UNICEF, UN, Canadian
troops. I was shocked. People really are doing
something for us Filipinos. As much as I can, I
said thank you. And for me, I felt pressured,”
revealed Bea. “I thought what am I doing? I need
to do more.”
Bea’s Advocacies
Bea definitely took these words to heart as she put
time into her various advocacies. Aside from her
projects with the charities of Binibining Pilipinas,
she is a Gawad Kalinga ambassador and also
chose to celebrate her last birthday with kids from
an orphanage.
“I grew up with my grandparents so I feel the
urge to give back, especially since these kids are 8
months to 6 years old. These are the times when
they really need family. I grew up being super
independent so I knew that feeling of how it’s like
to not have that attention, craving for mom and
dad to be there,” admitted Bea.
Bea’s causes also include empowerment, where
she stresses the importance of family and a
support system, women empowerment, as well as
promoting Filipino culture.
“My grandmother’s a teacher and her advocacy is
32
to love Philippines and to love the culture and traditions. I know folk dances, the songs and poems.
I want the kids in this generation to still remember
what it’s like to really be a Filipino,” explained Bea.
Bitten by the Travel Bug
Aside from charity work, with summer approaching, Bea is looking forward to enjoying sweet summer escapes around the country. “I am a travel
junkie. I’m a backpacker,” Bea said enthusiastically,
sharing that she wanted to discover more of the
beautiful spots around the Philippines, exploring
areas like Bohol, Surigao, Cebu, Batanes, Vigan
and other areas of Palawan. She would also like
for more people to get to know her province in
Masbate.
“I want the kids in
this generation to
still remember what
it’s like to really be a
Filipino.”
In the metro, Bea loves hanging out at Eastwood City. “It’s a city within a city. It has its own
community and the mall, the theater and all that,”
commented Bea. She named MAC and Beauty
Bar as some of her favorite shops and Cyma
(she loves Greek food!) and Italiannis as fave
restaurants.
Bea also enjoys going to Burgos Circle at Forbes
Town Center, with the open atmosphere where
she can walk around with her dog (a Pomeranian)
as well as purchase pet items at Dogs in the City.
Café Juanita is another restaurant she loves, with
its quirky vibe and décor and its flavorful takes on
Filipino cuisine.
After she passes on the crown, Bea would like to
pursue her interest in hosting. She would also like
to go back to school to take up Marketing and
continue her modeling career.
For Bea, Living the Good Life is all about being
happy where you are and in what you do. “For me,
it’s about being content, happy and comfortable.
Right now, this is me Living the Good Life!”
And looking at her inspiring plans for the summer
and beyond, we certainly couldn’t agree more!

MUTYA
Datul
Winning the crown of Miss Supranational
represented a lot of firsts for Mutya Datul, the
simple but stunning 21-year old beauty from
Isabela. She is not only the first Filipina winner to take the crown, but also the first Asian.
And from a small town girl who used to spend
her summers playing outdoors and catching
beetles, now she is out seeing the world – and
enjoying every minute of it!
“So many things have changed for me since
I won Miss Supranational. Before, during the
summertime, I would be at the rice fields going out to catch frogs and insects that we can
eat –exotic food. Before, I didn’t even wear
make-up but now, I make sure that I always
look my best,” Mutya revealed.
“Going to Belarus for the pageant was actually
my first time to go out of the country. Last
year was the first time I got to watch a movie
at the cinema. So many first experiences!” she
added with a laugh.
Bigger Horizons
The road to her win actually began in her
Junior Year in High School, when a teacher
encouraged her to join Miss Intrams. She wore
her basketball uniform to the contest and easily won the admiration of her classmates.
“Enjoy everything.
You are still blessed
to be alive in this
world!”
Since then, as Miss Supranational, she has
been to Panama to meet the President of the
Miss Supranational Organization, to Gabon to
cheer on the girls who are in the Miss Gabon
pageant and to Poland. Even her horizons
have widened and she enjoys city life in Metro
Manila, where she talked about how much
she admired Newport Mall at Resorts World
Manila.
“The design and the ambiance are so beautiful. So classy, bright, and clean! The quality is
34
really at an international level. Even just looking around is fun,” she exclaimed. She also
frequents Eastwood Mall, where she shops
with her friends.
Mutya loves doing charity work for Binibining Pilipinas and Miss Supranational, whose
advocacy is women empowerment. She is also
thrilled to attend events with fellow Binibining
Pilipinas winners, who she affectionately calls
her “Queen Sisters.”
“We went to Bataan to help the new batch of
girls for the coronation night and it was so
calm and peaceful. The people were so friendly and I loved swimming in the pool. This was
when I realized that I should cherish every
moment!” she revealed.
A Sunny Outlook
Mutya is certainly someone who knows how
to Live the Good Life, as seen through her
personal motto: life is wonderful. “Enjoy everything. You are still blessed to be alive in this
world! Every day, when I wake up and I just
say, thank you Lord for this day!” she said.
And her outlook for the future is as sunny as
her personality. “I’m not in a hurry. I’m open
to the new blessings and opportunities that
come my way. I’m just trying to prepare for it
by staying healthy and making sure that I stay
‘me’.”
She is also interested to go into acting, especially comedy. She remembers being an angel
in a school Christmas program when she was
young. “Even though I didn’t have any dialog,
I was really into it!” she said grinning.
With a sense of humor as sparkling as her
beauty, we’re certain that Mutya will be as big a
hit on the silver screen as on the pageant stage!

In 1887, Edouard Heuer made history with

named the Carrera collection after the
CARRERA PANAMERICANA, a road
race of legend. He imagined an iconic
design with a wide-open, easy-toread dial and a shock-resistant and
waterproof case tough enough for
even the most intense road wear. A
mythical series was born. In 2010,
the oscillating pinion was used, in a
Carrera case, to create the CALIBRE
1887, the in-house calibre chronograph. A half-century after its dramatic
arrival in the watchmaking scene, the
timeless Carrera remains the standardbearer of TAG Heuer’s unrivalled watchmaking pedigree and motor racing
heritage. The brand proudly celebrates the

tribute to five decades of inspired design
and revolutionary technology.
The Calibre 1887 is an integrated

functions of the chronograph hand, functions like a gearbox. The oscillating pinion
works like a clutch.

For anyone who has always wanted to create
their own pizza, Project Pie is a dream come
true.
Now open at Eastwood City, Project Pie is a
design-your-own pizza establishment conceptualized by James Markham, who opened his
first Project Pie branch in Las Vegas. He pioneered the category of fast-casual artisanal
pizza, which is customized assembly-line style.
Ordering and creating the ideal pizza pie is
simple. Diners can get one of seven Pre-Set
pizzas – these include the Classic Cheese Pie at
58
P245, the No. 2 which is a meat lover’s
dream with Project Pie’s signature red
sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, garlic and crumbled meatballs and other combinations called White Pizzas
(which uses Olive Oil).
Or they can choose to build their own
pizza at P285, which is where the fun
begins. First, diners choose the sauce
to go with the dough – there’s White,
Red, and they can also choose to top
it all off with BBQ Sauce. Then guests
move to the cheese options, which include gorgonzola, ricotta, parmesan,
feta and mozzarella.
After that, diners select their toppings,
which include favourites like tomato,
pepperoni, and onions to more unusual choices like Canadian bacon, chicken, roasted red peppers, cilantro, fresh
chopped basil, and rosemary, among
others.
Once diners have made their choices,
the pizza is popped into the oven and
in just a few minutes, they can pick up
their personalized pizzas.
Aside from the ability to customize
their pizza and the wide variety of toppings, what makes Project Pie’s pizza
special is their dough, which comes

Aside from their savoury pizzas, Project Pie also has dessert pizzas on the
menu – options include the popular

Those who want more veggies can
also order a salad – the Classic Caesar or the Mixed Greens – or have
