KEYNOTE SPEAKER Diane Gilman, Fashion Personality from Home Shopping Network D iane Gilman started her first fashion store as a freshman in college in Los Angles and soon became a popular destination among Hollywood Starlets. Diane designs her exclusive and wildly popular collections as a blend of modern fashion and classic comfort in life style dressing. In the mid 60's to mid 70's, she designed clothing for some of the top Rock and Roll stars-The Jefferson Airplane, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, and Cher. She moved to New York City, in the early 80's, and was "discovered" by Bloomingdales for her individualistic and original collections. At one point, in a one week period, Diane had every window of every major New York department store. She is also credited with being the first designer to introduce washable silk to North America, which brought her recognition and millions of fans. But nothing could compare to the broad recognition she has realized through being one of the foundational Pioneers for Tele-retailing Fashion!
