Another Exciting NCMA Annual Christmas Party On December 6th, the NCMA Christmas Party was held at the Drydock Club. The Live Music was again presented by Dino Seretis with the “Yankee Swap” gift exchange. Bill Welch was awarded “NCMA Member of Year” for 2014. Bill lent his help to many volunteer events such as Craddock Little League, Southeastern Food Bank, and our various clean-up days. Congratulations and many thanks to Bill for his dedication and hard work! Also in attendance were Admiral Rick Berkey and wife Camille along with our SY Commander Scott Brown and his wife Missy. Our spouses and new members were also a big part of our annual party. 1 NCMA Announced Its Inaugural “NNSY Manager of the Year” Roy Gunzelman, Code 2330.4 Branch Head. Gunzelman was selected from a select group of managers who were previous winners of NCMA’s monthly “Manage-Mint” award during 2014. This award was established to recognize outstanding leadership at NNSY, as exemplified by the NCMA’s charter and core principles. This path is used by a lot of our fellow employees and active duty ‘customers’ who travel between the exterior parking lot towards Building 705 and on to the industrial area. This in-reach event involved picking up debris, pulling weeds, seeping out, composting and stashing trash. Volunteers also made some minor brick pathway repairs making it a bit safer for traversing in the evening. 4th Qrt. Scott M. Brown On the evening of October 25th, about 28 brave souls embarked on the ex-USS WISCONSON moored at the Nauticus Museum, downtown Norfolk, for a frightful excursion on board the 'Haunted Ship'. This was our Chapter's fall social event with several members from Tidewater Chapter joining in for the fun. Our tour required our 'search party' to navigate through the darkened passages on a 'rescue' mission complete with monsters banshees and other unsavory ghouls impeding our way. The fun evening was enjoyed by all and will likely become an annual tradition. Proceeds from the event were used to support the Museum. Our November monthly chapter meeting involved a 'Real Meal' (a quarterly initiative), which included a complete Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings supported by our local shipyard CoOperative. Our chapter officially welcomed our newly-installed Shipyard Commander CAPT Scott Brown, as our guest speaker. This event broke our attendance record reaching over 70 members and guests! CAPT Brown led a lively discussion on core values, (honor, commitment and courage), accountability and responsibility, as the foundational basis for our continued shipyard mission success. 4
