Ramblers both young and old are enchanted by
the bewitching landscapes of the Hochkönig hikers’
paradise. Wide valleys and flower-sprinkled Alpine

the waters of the Wörthersee, when the starting gun goes in the early hours of the morning
at Klagenfurt’s bathing beach for the hardest triathlon in the land – Ironman Austria.

dishes. You are invited to KäseHerbst, an autumn cheese festival from mid
September to mid October. Hostelries along the Cheese Road will be serving

Hands Free Hiking
Just fill a small rucksack – and you can head for the hills, because by
evening your suitcase will be waiting for you at the next hotel. One of the
most memorable hikes follows a three day route from Schwarzenberg to
Au. This tour is leisurely and broken up into sections of 3.5 to 5 hours’
walking a day on well marked trails. The terrain is pleasantly undemanding
and suitable for “Sunday ramblers” (3 nights including luggage transfers
from €383 per person).

he Montafon region has been considered a top centre by mountain
bikers for many years now. There are around 860 km of mountain bike
tour trails, from simple cycling paths to seriously challenging slopes, so
every biker can find their dream route. More than 600 signposts guide you
along the individual routes and guarantee total biking pleasure. The trail
network was developed with Mountainbike Club Montafon and the routes
are colour-coded as per the ski piste classification system which has been
in use for decades: blue routes for beginners, red for advanced and black
for challenging routes including sections where you have to carry the bike.
Every section is described in the guide, with gradient profile, terrain type
and distance in kilometres. All tours complete with GPS data, gradient

he Montafon region lies in the south of the Vorarlberg and stretches
as far as Piz Buin which, at 3,312 metres, is the province’s highest
