Cross Beams NEWSLETTER OF THE HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, E.L.C.A. M A R C H 2 0 1 4 The purpose of Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church The Pastor’s Pulse I took my sailboat to the House of Boats a couple of weeks ago to have the bottom cleaned and painted. It was a tedious task just getting to the boat yard at Cove Harbor. It took me just short of two hours to get there - and that, with the engine wide open. is to know, and joyfully share, the love of God in Christ. Why it took so long became obvious when they lifted the boat from the water. The bottom was covered with barnacles and moss - most of those barnacles at least three inches long. ____ Rev. George Haynes Pastor For Pastoral Care call Coming back to Rockport took less than 45 minutes. What a difference it made, having all of those barnacles and that moss removed! 361-790-3838 The Epistle to the Hebrews talks about cleaning off all of the sin that clings to our lives, e-mail: hcrosslchurch@gmail.com and what a dramatic difference it makes in our relationship to God. _____ Located at 2872 Loop 1781 P.O. Box 301 Rockport, TX 78381 _____ C h u r c h O f fi c e 361-727-9140 _____ We do not have to carry that heavy load of sin. The suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is for the very purpose of our sins being forgiven and our relationship to God being put right once again. "If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us; if we confess our sin, God is faithful and just and will forgive our sin and cleanse us of all unrighteousness." What a gift and what an opportunity!
