03.18.16 Golden Bear News Campus News The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center will hold their annual Easter on the Farm on Saturday, March 19, from 10 AM to 4 PM at the center's farm on Luckenbill Road on the campus of Kutztown University. Visitors will be witness to many historic activities, including blacksmithing, log hewing, pottery and hearth cooking. Egg hunts will be held for children ages 6 mos. to 10 yrs. at 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM. The event will offer wagon rides, a petting zoo and hands-on crafts. Keith Brintzenhoff takes the stage in the schoolhouse at 12 PM and 3 PM with "Songs and Stories for Kids of All Ages," and Mike Hertzog and The Blue Mountain Trio will perform traditional bluegrass and folk music at 1 PM. The event is sponsored in part by East Penn Manufacturing, R.M. Palmer Co. and JustBorn, Inc. For more information visit www.facebook.com/pgchc. #VOTEAVALANCHE 2016 Mascot Madness Championship VOTE HERE 3/23 Nani Agbeli, noted dancer and drummer from Ghana, will perform with the Kutztown University African and World Percussion Ensembles on Thursday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium. The program will also include student dancers and singers. Agbeli previously visited campus in February, 2014. Also on the program will be performances by World Percussion ensembles focusing on music from Brazil and the Caribbean that have roots in African-derived traditions. Dr. Frank Kumor, director of Percussion Studies, leads these groups, and has published and presented multiple clinics on world music traditions. KU HISTORY March 14, 2009: It’s a great day to be a Golden Bear! Wrestler Joe Kemmerer won the NCAA wrestling championship, his second national title. Softball player Steph Denlinger set a career Division II home run record. Men’s basketball won the program’s first-ever NCAA playoff game. Women’s swimmer Stephanie Jeppeson finished second at the NCAA Championships in the 200 yard breaststroke, setting her fourth school record of the championship meet. She played shortstop for KU in 2012 when the Golden Bears won a school-record 52 games and reached the NCAA Division II championship game. Monica Tubay ’15 is engaged to Christopher Trimble, both of Lancaster. A November 2016 wedding is planned.
