The Community Thanksgiving Service will be Tuesday, November 24th at 7 PM hosted by Waxhaw Presbyterian Church. Rev. Joe Rolison, from Rehobeth ARP Church, will be the guest speaker. All are invited and encouraged to attend. You are invited to a Patty Greene Christmas Benefit Concert on Sunday, November 29th beginning at 4 PM in the fellowship hall for the children of Guatemala. No admission charge/simply an opportunity to give to help offset the Christmas ministry for the children of Guatemala. The Presbyterian Women have pecans available again this year for holiday baking. They are from the Golden Kernel Pecan Company in Cameron, SC. The one pound bags of halves and small pieces are $10 each. The Women’s Leadership Team will not meet in November, but will have a year–end meeting and Christmas celebration in the Foundations/Jessie Plyler classroom. Please bring a snack to share. HANGING OF THE GREENS It’s that time again, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, to decorate our beautiful sanctuary and fellowship hall for Christmas!! SAVE THE DATE! Siler Ladies Spring Retreat, April 22-24, 2016 Ladies! Please save the date for our beach retreat coming up April 22-24, 2016. Back by popular demand will be Joyce Plyler, as our keynote speaker! Approximate cost will be $150 pp for two nights lodging and dinner Saturday evening. Details to follow. There is a class for every member of your family. Toddler & Nursery classrooms are in the Huneycutt Hall. The 3-thru 5-year-olds class is on the first floor of the Dodd Building. K—12th Grade Classes are on the second floor in the Dodd Building. Locations of the adult classes: Jessie Plyler Class — Meets in the fellowship hall (Foundations Classroom). The class, taught by Dona Haney, is studying the David C. Cook Bible-In-Life Curriculum. October-November the class will be studying “The Christian Community Comes Alive”. Studies are in Acts. Good News Class – Meets in the Good News classroom of the Fellowship Building. Studies in the Old Testament are being taught by Clay Bower. Foundations Class — Meets in the conference room of the office building. They are studying James.” Generations Class - Meets in the Generations classroom in the Fellowship Building. Co-Teachers Gary Sharpe and Dr. Tim Sieges are leading a study on the life of Jesus. Seekers Class - Meets in the Seekers classroom of the Fellowship Building. Class is led by Mike Waller studying the lives of the Apostles—where they went and what they did after Jesus left the earth. Lastly, the Family Focus Class—Meets on the first floor of the Dodd building in the children’s church room. The class is studying a six week video series, “Sacred Parenting” by Gary Thomas. Unfrozen Starting on Sunday, November 29th 5-6:30pm the children will have a chance to learn more about the Christmas story as told by 2 sisters. There will be songs, games, Bible reading and skits every night. The program will continue for 4 weeks and end on December 20th. Children 4 and up are welcome to attend. Passport to Christmas Satur day, December 5th 8:30-1. Children (and parents) are invited to travel with Mrs. Crystal to the JAARS center (Bible translation resource center) a little south of Waxhaw to experience other cultures and Christmas. This experience is specifically geared for K-5th. Children get to ‘travel’ to Vanuatu, China and Kenya with their own ‘passport’ and learn customs, dress, and how each culture can hear about Jesus. Registration is required. See Mrs. Crystal with questions. Dulce is the child the children support at the feeding center in Guatemala. Children are welcome to bring offering money from home in for her, but they can also earn “money” for her on Sundays by saying Bible verses, bringing Bibles, coming to Sunday School, bringing friends, doing their challenge, etc. They receive gold coins which turn in nickels when placed in the offering can for her.
