Expression and Healing through an Afro-Brazilian Art Form CAPOEIRA ANGOLA Project Bantu Capoeira Angola Elements of Capoeira Angola The Roda The Movements The Music The Players The History Project Bantu with STARTTS Weekly Classes Youth Seminars and Camps Annual Youth Event Annual Youth Event Evaluation 2011-2012 Commenced in July 2011 till November 2012 Quantitative – SDQ with teachers (32 students) Qualitative – focus groups with new students (32) and with long-term students (7). Findings – new students 1. Increased interpersonal skills and improved relationships 2. Increased confidence and self-esteem 3. Increased control of anger and associated behavior 4. Increased self-discipline and sense of responsibility Findings – old students The same as above but to a higher degree and Increased school attendance.
