President’s Message—Ozzie Ausloos
Success is a lot of work
Last month’s President’s Message was
about how our club and Board of Directors have been busy getting new map
ads and raising money for our grooming
expenses. Well, because of our growth
some people behind the scenes have to
work extra hard to stay on top of this
success. As of the last Board meeting
our Membership Chair Margie Klingsporn reported that we have 100 new
families apply for membership. Wow
isn’t that awesome until you have to
enter them into our system and the

membership cards and stuff more envelopes with our raffle tickets etc.
Margie has been a trooper in keeping
up with the task, I suspect her husband
Milt has helped in some of this. I sure
hope they use self-seal envelopes.
Every year there are some changes to
our Brown Informational signs that you
see at the intersections of our trail system, but this year brought a whole lot
more than a few. Each pit stop advertiser has their name at several intersections which means new signs have

Brushing month is here and gone....oh, how time flies. Have you sent for your trail pass yet? Better not forget or put it
off. We are over half complete with our machine brushing and work is progressing on the "goat" trail along Hwy 70 past
Sportsmen’s Chalet and Fudd’s Big Dipper next to Elmer’s re-route.
The engineering work is complete and bonds are all submitted on the new Dog Creek Bridge which is along Hwy J. Seems
like everything is coming together. This new bridge will eliminate crossing over Hwy J.
We will be having driver meetings next month, always an exciting time for the crew. The club brushing day was another
great event attended by 30 members. A big "Thank You" to Joe & Debbie Reed at Spang’s for providing the pizza, Sheila
Pulec and Tara Pulec at Twilight Bar & Grill for providing a place to gather after brushing and for their donation to the club.
We would also like to thank the Weber family from
Camp’s Sentry Foods for their donation of donuts for
the brushing crew and Paul Bohnen of Paul’s Rent-All
for his donation of the use of his chipper to clean up
the approaches for the new Dog Creek Bridge. It is so
rewarding to work for businesses that really appreciates our efforts to provide the best trails in the
state.
Don't forget.....trail pass, trail pass, trail pass. It
will be riding time before you know it!

Treasurer Report—Ed Siergiej
As our Trail Boss Jim Wendt mentioned in the September
newsletter the replacement of one of our groomers, I would like
to inform our members of this expenditure over the summer.
Through our budget process the Board of Directors approved the
selling of one of our New Holland Tractors and the purchase of a
Track Tucker-Terra. As for the numbers, the sale of one of our
two New Holland 2010 Tractors brought us $101,000. The new
(slightly used) 2013 Tucker-Terra cost was $157,000. We were
able to pay the difference of $57,000 with $9,000 in the equipment allocated funds from last season with the remaining
$48,000 from our general fund. Of course this large expense
brought our club’s funds down under $10,000 to start the new
season. We again need to build up our funds for the season’s
operating expenses and get ready for our next equipment purchase in the near future.
It is of the utmost importance to keep updating our equipment to keep our trails the very best they can be. Having even
one piece break down and out of operation puts a great strain
on the other equipment and our trails. Not to mention that one
of our neighbor clubs having all three of their groomers out of
action last winter, which was a disaster. All the credit goes to
our Trail oBss and our groomer drivers who maintain our equipment throughout the season. Not only does it keep our equipment running but it also helps bring top dollars when we sell.

Secretary’s Report—Kay Schultz
Last week the color in the north woods hit its peak. The
weather was great, with the temperature on Sunday was
almost 80o. But now the tide has turned – the temperature
right now (Tuesday, 10/13 @ 10:00am) is 46o and the wind
is producing white caps on the lake and it is “raining”
leaves and pine needles. Not really ready for snow yet but
I’m guessing that it will be here soon.
I would like to say a big thank you to Laurel and Gary
Frank of Sportsmen’s Chalet for hosting our October membership dinner. As usual, the appetizers, dinner and dessert were great. We are wishing you a speedy recovery
Gary!
Please remember that we will once again be collecting
for the Vilas Food Pantry at our Christmas dinner at
Whitetail Inn.

As I predicted last month, Ed and I have been very busy with our membership applications. Despite both of us vacationing at different times
this month, we have managed to register 325 memberships. We are extremely happy that so many members have renewed this early.
Four years ago we had a total of 462 memberships for the entire year. As of today we have 559 registered memberships. It is mind boggling
to think of the growth of our club!!!

Who are the Apple Dumplings? The Apple Dumpling Gang is a group of good
looking men (mostly retired, but a few are still working) who snowmobile together every Wednesday during the season. This is an informal group so there
are no dues or duties. On Wednesdays they leave from the groomer barn at 9
AM sharp. All you have to do is show up. Socializing is usually available there
starting at 8:15 AM. There is a contribution for each ride to cover the cost of
the drinks and lunch for that day. The group also has a Kick-off dinner in November, a 3-day Overnighter Trip, a Potato Pancake Breakfast in mid-winter,
and Brunch to end the season in March. Why not come ride with them?

Vilas and Oneida County Snowmobile Clubs have placed brown, 3
digit number signs throughout the County at key intersections. In the
event of an emergency, the 911 operator will ask for this number.
Their emergency response system can identify these numbers and
give important information to rescue personnel.
So pay attention to these intersection

ANYONE REMEMBER? Do you recognize this “Official BoBoen Pitstop? This photo was taken in the 70’s by the family
of Doug Leasure. His dad and uncles would come up every
winter to ride our trails and his 78 year old uncle continues
to come up yearly to ride. If you have any Bo-Boen photo’s

Annual Club Raffle
Again this season we will be running
our club cash raffle. There will be four raffle tickets sent with your membership renewal form. The tickets are $5 each with a maximum of
2,000 tickets sold. First prize is $2,500, second prize is
$1,500, third prize is $500 and fourth and fifth place
prize is $250 each. The drawing will take place at our
dinner meeting on March 8, 2016.
We would also like to THANK The New Twilight Bar &
Grill for paying for the print costs of the raffle tickets.
Help Wanted—Trail Assistance Chair
Kevin & Deb Harvey (Harv’s Vacation Rentals) recently went
to the Milwaukee Snow Show at the State Fair Park in Milwaukee to promote snowmobiling in St. Germain. There
were numerous compliments about our trails and the consensus was people couldn’t wait to come to St. Germain and
ride the best trails in the state!

Snowmobile Safety Education Class
December 29 & 30, 2015
Beginning January 1, 2001, any person born on or after
January 1, 1985 and who has reached the age of 12, must
have completed and received a snowmobile safety certificate
in order to operate a snowmobile in Wisconsin. The certificate must be carried while operating the snowmobile, and displayed to a law enforcement officer upon demand. Snowmobile Safety Education Classes are offered in the fall and early winter, and should start appearing on the DNR’s web
site within the next month or so.
All students are required to obtain a Wisconsin DNR Customer ID# as part of
the criteria to graduate from any Recreational Safety Class and provide that number to their instructor. Students can obtain a DNR Customer ID# from St. Germain
Sport Marine during business hours or by calling 1-888-936-7463 between 7 am to
10 pm. You can also visit a Wisconsin DNR Service Center during their regular
scheduled hours. For additional DNR Service Center hours and locations go to
www.dnr.wi.gov and click on the “Contact US” tab located at the top.
The Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club’s Snowmobile Safety Education Class will be
held on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 29 & 30, 2015. Anyone 11-1/2 years
of age or older is eligible to take the class and receive a safety education certificate; however, the certificate does not become valid until the child reaches 12
years of age. Pre-registration is required by calling Peggy Ausloos at (715) 5423548.
If you can donate a couple of hours of your time to help with registration, cookies or bars, grading of tests or helping outside with the machine test, please call
Peggy Ausloos at (715) 542-3548.
Again this year Judy & Chuck Berard will be making lunch for the kids and are
requesting helpers from 11:30 to 12:15. If you could lend them a hand please call

The Air, The Forest and The
Watch Print Raffle
Again this year, Don & Marie Bauman
donated another signed, numbered and
framed print to the club to be used for a
raffle. This years print is “The Air, The
Forest and The Watch” by Robert Bateman. It is 23” x 34.5” and tickets are
available anytime at St. Germain Sport
Marine or at Club Dinner Meetings. For
those of you out of the area, you may
also send money with your membership
renewal and make a note what the additional funds are for. Tickets are 3/
$5.00 or 7/$10.00.
