Looking at the life of Abraham makes me wonder, how is God calling Bethel UMC
forward? God’s call to his people has been consistent throughout scripture: be
faithful to me because I am faithful to you. Being faithful to God is following him,
continuing Jesus’ work in the world until he returns or calls us home.
When you follow someone you spend time getting to know them. You pick up their
mannerisms and habits. You don’t become them, but you become like them. That’s
why we’re careful who we choose as friends. That’s why we’re so protective who our children hang around
with. That’s why Jesus chose 12 men to follow him. He wanted them to pick up on what he was doing so it
would become part of them and they could do it in their own unique way.
So are you following Jesus; spending time with him? Picking up on his mannerisms of love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control? Picking up on his habits of praying for
harvesters, reaching out to people with the hope of the gospel, teaching the Word of God through your
words and actions, and helping those in need?
As a church, we’ve been effective in reaching families with the gospel through children’s ministry, MOPS,
parenting classes, financial classes, youth ministry, Bible studies, and more. But the harvest of souls for the
gospel is still abundant. Our goal isn’t to fill the church. Our goal is to see God transform lives, and we
haven’t reached our goal until every person in Mascoutah hears the truth of the good news.
When they hear the truth and see it lived out, people will want to know more, learn more, and join us in this
great and worthy cause. And we need to be prepared!
So where is God calling us? Forward. Into the dark of night to reflect and shine forth the light of Christ.
Into Mascoutah – the homes and lives of the spiritually dead who haven’t received new life in Jesus Christ.
So forward we go – Reaching People, Teaching the Word, Helping Those in Need. Join me! Let’s move
forward in Jesus’ name!
Pastor Andy

Through video teaching, class
discussions, and interactive small group activities, FPU
presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you
are now to where you've dreamed you could be. This plan
will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your
money, spend and save wisely, and much more!
Two free preview seminars will be held at the
church on Sunday, February 7, at 11 am and on
Tuesday, February 9, at 6:30 pm. Classes will start on

Bethel 4YG is going amazing even through
this transitional time of my arrival. I am so beyond blessed to be
here with these amazing students. Winter Jam was a huge
success, and everyone is getting pumped for toilet paper
dodgeball. I am excited to be going through the series called "In
the Beginning..." where we discuss the beauty of God's creation
and what it means to be created in the image of God. I will keep
putting out information on Facebook as well as sending out flyers
for any future events. Here is what Y4G is has coming up in the
next month!
February 7- Parent/Student Meeting for Fuge, 11 am in Youth

the information table in the fellowship hall. Please
