From the New Yorker
The vision of YCAC is to
enhance and enrich life in
Yates County through education and the advancement of
the arts.
To this end, we plan, promote,
and develop art programs and
projects; coordinate, schedule,
and publicize events; develop
and maintain physical facilities.
Programs of YCAC are supported by an annual grant from
the Yates County Legislature,
from commissions collected
on Gallery sales, and by memYCAC programs are supported in part with public
funds from the New York
State Council on the Arts
- Decentralization Program, which is administered locally
by Finger
Lakes Arts
Grants &
Services.

TANGY MEATBALLS, a Popular Dish at the PYAG Picnic...from Elaine Stefanik
1 38-oz. pkg. frozen meatballs (I used Rosina's Homestyle Meatballs, 76 in the pkg.)
2 1-lb. cans sauerkraut
1 1-lb. can whole berry cranberry sauce
1 12-oz. bottle Heinz Chili Sauce (for best flavor, don't substitute another brand)
2 to 3 Tbsp. yellow mustard
1/4 to 1/3 cup light brown sugar
Water
Into a large mixing bowl, put cranberry sauce, mustard, brown sugar, and Heinz Chili Sauce; blend well. Fill empty
chili sauce bottle with water to measure, and add water to mixture. Add the sauerkraut and juice and mix well. Add
the frozen meatballs and stir to coat. Pour into a 3 1/2-quart crock pot. (It will be full.) Set on high heat and bring to a
bubbling boil, then reduce heat to low and continue to heat for another 20 to 30 minutes to be sure that meatballs are
heated through and flavors are well blended.
October’s Featured Artists: Dustin Boutwell and Sam Castner
Dustin Boutwell will be new to The Gallery when he is our featured two-dimensional artist in
October. From Bath, he is known in the Southern Tier for his innovative oil paintings. He
chooses real subjects, whether portraits, florals, close up objects, and paints them in a realistic manner. His uniqueness is derived from his compositional designs, the unusual, even fantastic, ways he assembles and arranges his subjects.
Sam Castner is a member of the YCAC Board, and a partner in Earthworks Gallery in Penn
Yan and Geneva. His large scale welded metal sculptures grace the grounds of Lyons Bank
in Penn Yan, Belhurst in Geneva, and many other collections.
